  4. Bangkok launches ambulances certification campaign BANGKOK (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has launched a check-up campaign affecting ambulances and emergency medical vehicles, branding certified vehicles with six-pointed stars, ensuring preparedness for 24-hour emergency medical services. Staff of the Erawan Emergency Medical Center Bangkok have inspected ambulances and emergency medical vehicles as part of the certification campaign this year. Vehicles passing the inspection will have a six-pointed star sticker placed on them, with the text Bangkok EMS and the year of inspection. The inspection covers checks for the readiness of onboard equipment and vouches that the vehicle’s condition is in keeping with approved standards, ensuring its capacity to serve the general public in cases of medical emergency. The Governor of Bangkok Pol Gen Aswin Kwanmuang said today the Medical Service Department this year had checked and certified all high-level emergency medical vehicles in 9 zones since July, with 150 vehicles inspected. The department will be completing its inspection of some 1,000 standard ambulances and emergency vehicles by the end of September, raising the confidence of the general public. The general public can make a request for emergency medical assistance at any time by calling the Erawan Center 1669. -- © Copyright NNT 2019-08-19 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info
  5. Wow. I stand corrected - 80k. I did look at the threads but they were often tangled with posts about other visas. I'm also on a standard O and admittedly not all that interested.
  6. I would imagine such a visa might require some cash before the "I"s are dotted and the "T"s are crossed.

In the first Defence Assembly session, the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha urged leaders of the armed forces and related departments to work in unison to support the government’s policies, especially on cooperation with the Ministry of a Digital Economy and Society, the National Security Council, and other agencies, on the enactment of cybersecurity related bills. He called on them to come up with suitable responses to cybersecurity threats in the future. The PM directed the armed forces to respond to natural disasters, particularly drought, and set up drought mitigation centers in affected provinces to work with related agencies. The Prime Minister then urged the defence agencies to implement measures to ensure tourists’ safety in compliance with the government’s policy promoting tourism as a means of distributing income to people in local provinces. He urged the Internal Security Operations Command, working with local government agencies and private firms, to create safety measures suitable for each area, especially in popular tourist provinces. -- © Copyright NNT 2019-08-19 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info
  11. Fair enough, I withdraw the sweeping generalisation about business operators, and when I posted I very nearly used the phrase "anyone running a bar business". But please take into account the context of the suggestion I was replying to - it's quite clear that there's more than a few grubby mitts in the pot benefitting from the collateral damage of immigration enforcement.
  12. TBWG So it's Facebook's translation software? I couldn't see the word cuddle กอด in Thai there, so can only assume it's some glitch at their end where maybe it's misparsing something to be กอด. Or maybe there's a cuddle กอด emoticon used in the Facebook post and it's translating the text associated with that emoticon.

  18. Calls for stricter control or a ban on use of single-use plastic bags The death of baby dugong Mariam, which is being blamed on plastic found blocking her digestive system, has renewed calls for stricter control, or a complete ban on the use of single-use plastic bags. Well known marine scientist, and vice dean of the Faculty of Fisheries of Kasetsart University, Dr. Thon Thamrongnawasawat, told Thai PBS on Saturday that the recent campaign to reduce the use of plastic bags, which has cut their use by 100 million out of a total of 45 billion, was not enough. He suggested that single-use plastic bags should be banned, beginning next year, as was done in New Zealand, or a fee should be imposed for their use. He also said that the plan to reduce the use of plastic straws, due to begin in the next three years, should be brought forward to next year. Money gone

Go and have a word with yourself. Believe me, I'm aware of the irony, but the situation remains as I described it. The ladyboy will be back on the streets in a matter of hours. The upstanding foreigner will have their name on the net associated with a ladyboy and a red light district for all eternity. So the question for the tourist is this - what will be the repercussions of me doing the right thing and attempting to get my stuff back and the ladyboy prosecuted? Will it have effects on my marriage, family, friends and job back at home? If the police here could be expected to serve justice it might be a different matter, but we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto.

  23. Sometimes I wonder why many people post a comment or question that has been asked and/or answered so many times. it is as if the poster cannot or will not take a few minutes to look through previous postings and comments. I know a few, like this poster are located in another country but if they can make an inquiry then surely they can review previous material and find the answers without asking others for help when they do not really need it. 'nuf sed.
