Frozen pension policy turns British expat's dream into a nightmare
mrwebb8825 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
interesting: Most British Commonwealth countries are included in the frozen list;[8] these include countries, such as Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Thailand and India, as well as British overseas territories such as the Falkland Islands.[9] Wonder if Thailand knows the Brits claim it. from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frozen_state_pension -
Does anyone know if SCB or Kasikorn allows you to convert the USD that's in your Thai bank FCD account to your THB acct online, without having to go into the bank, or without having to phone them? I was with Citibank, and I could always convert online, but my accounts were transferred to UOB last week, and they said I would have to come into the bank each time, or do it by phone. UOB doesn't allow online currency conversions. Thanks.

List of docs for extension by marriage
DrJack54 replied to Chetzee's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No. I was correcting another post. You can apply for a non O in Thailand from visa exempt or tourist visa. For that process you require 15+ days remaining on permit. Some offices eg CM require 21. You are not applying for a non O. You are asking about applying for extension. That can be done any time prior to expiry of your permission of stay -

Thai mobile phone provider wants too much money
NONG CHOK replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I was a wake up to their games years ago. Since then I've used DTAC around 1,800 baht per year for unlimited WIFI and 100 baht of free phone calls every month. The prices some companies show online are only a bluff, when you put it to them the price comes down. Most short term farangs just pay and don't queery the price because it's still much cheaper than the countries they came from. If anyone decides to follow my advice buy your SIM card online from Lazada etc don't buy it from the provider. You will save 400 baht plus. -

UN Report Warns Of Asia's Increasing Climate Crisis

Which has to do "what" with rising sea levels and beach front properties? FYI - I lived in CA for 8 years and fires up and down the state were a problem as far back as I can remember. For me that was close to 40 years ago - back when Fairfield was becoming a bedroom community for the Bay Area. About 20 years later that was Sacramento. Now its Lake Tahoe. Let's not even talk about So. Cal đ and San Diego. There are millions of new homes, a total lack of new PGE infrastructure (the old stuff keeps creating fires it seems), and then an eco-warrior mindset that seems to think that if enough "wild-fires" are set (another name for arson in the name of global warming) then the state will revert to neo-feudalism and force all the pleb into 15 minute cities where they can eat bugs and "be happy." Insurance companies are happy to oblige. I can remember back when there was a major "hill-fire" in Oakland. All the houses on the hill-side were toasted -except one which was built by an engineer who engineered it - not to burn. It can be done - but there's not will to do it. For anyone mad enough to live in CA these day. Sucks to be you. I loved my time there but I'd never go back. -
Here is a photo of beach road pedestrian walkway in the afternoon. It's like a scorching hot desert, not fit for anyone to enjoy.

Mass arrests made as US campus protests over Gaza spread
BigBruv replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It's impossible not to agree with your statement but, you've got no hope of an honest dialogue on here. This is an IDF stronghold - same few guys patrol the few threads on this subject 24/7. Same thing as happened during the so-called 'pandemic'. I'm not sure if they are of the small hats or just boomer brains who've succumbed to constant indoctrination over many years from a certain group who occupy most of the positions of power in media and hollyweird. Problem is the younger generations ARE noticing. But boomer brain is real. sufferer's heads are just filled with complete nonsense yet theyâre the most arrogant people that have ever lived - Theyâre like giant babies. If you question any of their RETARDED beliefs they just scream and rant and say youâre evil or mentally ill. Donât let friends get boomer brain. Oh and when you have boomer brain even if itâs obvious youâre wrong that means you are still right. Even more right actually. Because...... they're literally retarded. I guess we have to go through the motions until a few years pass and the exact same people claim "I was against the Gaza genocide from day one" and "I saw through the covid narrative". Forgive them for they know not what they do. -

A video circulating on social media showing a foreign couple neglecting a motorcyclist they hit with their luxurious car in Phuket, Thailand, has led to public outrage. The incident occurred on April 25, when the couple, driving a white Mercedes Benz, made a right turn without signaling, causing a collision with an oncoming motorcyclist. The impact threw the motorcyclist across the car, and he later fell on the road. Thankfully, he was wearing a helmet, which likely saved him from a serious head injury. Instead of checking on him, the foreign couple focused on inspecting their car's damage, seemingly disregarding the injured individual. The vicinity of the accident is believed to be around a Vivi Hotel in the Rawai district of Phuket, according to a Thai social media user. The couple are suspected to have been hotel guests there. The video generated significant responses from Thai social media users after being posted by the Phuket Times, which resulted in over 3,900 reactions and 500 comments. Many users expressed their resentment towards the couple's behavior. The news coverage does not provide further updates about whether the couple helped the injured motorcycle rider or if they are facing charges for their actions.
