  1. Past hour
  2. Thanks, somehow I miss this page, so must be on Non-immigrant visa to get Japan visa.
  3. Private insurance is not a viable option option because it does not cover pre-existing conditions at a reasonable price, and it is not available to older residents when they need it the most. If they were concerned about our health, and considered as "Residents" why not allow to buy into the 30 baht program? And I say "buy" into the system, because I understand that unlike Thai citizens we have not paid in the system. I dont think this has anything to do with concern about as, but profits for private insurance companies, and good luck getting them to pay for anything. If this remains, it is a game changer for me at my age, and Thailand is no longer a long term option for me. I will simply spend a few months there and fly back home every year, spend time with friends and family, do some shopping, medical follow up tests. and get a new visa to come back, until I get tired of this and of Thailand and never see my Thai home again.
  4. As a fellow tall person, EVA Air used to be very good about the seating issue, in that you could advise them when making a reservation that you are tall and want to request an emergency exit row seat in economy. And over many years of flying with them, they'd put in a request to the ground staff in advance and it was almost always honored with no grief or problem when checking in. Then in the past year or two, they changed that policy to where no more complimentary exit row assignments, and they started assigning those seats ONLY if you paid a surcharge for them PER flight segment. I wanna say it was like $80 extra per segment. So for a two-segment roundtrip between the U.S. and Thailand, keeping the exit row seat all the way would add $320 or so in total costs. Under the new policy, a couple of times, when checking in I'd ask if the exit row seats had already been purchased or were still available. And just before takeoff, they were still available. And even at that point, the only way the EVA Air ground staff would allocate those seats was with the payment of the extra fee.
  5. It is a lot worse here than is commonly known. Very high rate amongst gays and LB. Reasonably easy for a woman to contract form a man if unprotected. Reasonably difficult for a man to contract from a woman. I have found nearly everyone here including sex workers very willing to have unprotected sex. Normal women in Thailand I think only ever been asked if I had a condom on a few occasions. Usually they're not even on contraception, just doesn't cross their minds. It's not a nice feeling seeing your pregnant Thai GF coming out of an uncomfortably long consultation at the local clinic, after three month mandatory HIV check ...in tears.
  6. Another Brit dived off a high floor at the Pattaya Central Festival shopping centre last week.Thats the 3rd at the same centre. Its now known as joining the Pattaya Flying Club. While some might find that description amusing it saddens me that so many lives are being lost for reasons we rarely find the reason for and can do nothing to help these troubled souls
  7. strange though, there are places you can rent by the hour.
  8. Thanks. There are a lot of apps and options for smart phones. I need something like a mobile calling card with a call back number. Looking into the global option mentioned here, something like mytello, then all the other threads (time consuming.)
  9. You do know that up until he declared his intention to run as a politician Thanathorn was head of the Thai Summit group, a company that his family owns and had revenues of 80 billion baht in 2017? Are you seriously questioning where he could have come up with 3.5 million USD?
  10. Interestingly yesterday on BBC they talked about the 20 most corruput countries Cambodia was number 20 Thailand did not get a mention
  11. LOL rij we have a nucleus of young players with likely two or three joining this summer. Its far from the end.
  12. No one treat Thailand like Russia, of course you will be comparing your home country to Thailand, it is normal I think. But it was 6th page of this topic and no answer what actually Thai Law says about it
  13. I had a quick squint at airbnb ads for my condo, and didn't find any, although I think there is one that is being used for that purpose. But I do recognise some of the other condos, but cleverly the advertisers position their property incorrectly on Google map, (presumably to avoid detection). One in Piya Sathorn, on Suan Phlu, is positioned on Google map next to the Sukhothai Hotel.
  14. I expect you're married to a hiso Chinese lady, speak Thai fluently, & very wealthy.
  15. Kidnapping is kindnapping so it has to do with Thai law. Beleive Thailand is even party to the parental kidnapping treaty. But even if Thai immigration does nothing, Europe is more than 10 hours away. Enough time to prepare the arrest at arrival. Thai imigration does sometimes check if permisison is given before a child is allowedd to enter. Besides, a phone call to the airline might also result in the child beeing denied boarding.
  16. Your sure got your moneys worth from that old sprocket Papa 555 and a very reasonable cost of replacement.
  17. another Brexit ! sorry, i do not like jokes about accidents or deaths. couldn't resist (nobody's perfect)
  18. Thank you for all your replies guys. That is why I asked the question, because it still does not seem to be clear how to sell a motorbike, even though it has been discussed to many times. When the time comes, I will do it on my last non-imm visa to be on the safe side.
