  1. Past hour
  2. Before I came to Thailand, i never used a wallet. My paper money was rolled like a sausage and kept wit a rubber. It was always used in "Last in, first out" order I bought my first wallet in Thailand and learned to store the monkey properly. Like most Thai people that days.
  3. Not recent experience but in their reply to me, Savannakhet stated that If I didn't have 400,000 in a Thai bank account, I could apply for a single entry.
  4. Yes indeed. View Talay 2A has had CAT (now NT) fiber available for several years now. You can get 1 GB up and down for under 1,000 baht/month!
  5. I have, I have sat with Revenue staff as well as with specialist tax consultancy staff to discuss these things. What you posted previously was incorrect and remains so.
  6. In particular, two key events occured at the beginning of the 70s: the definitive end of the Bretton-Wood system, and the oil shock. Additionally, UK was the sick man of Europe at that time. Looking at the chart I posted, it could be considered that joining the EC/EU has allowed UK to re-establish the basis of a competitive economy, until it left.
  7. How is MENO confusing? And it is often used here. It very much is my business, I can no longer get a 12 month visa. Meno's are not only for those married to a Thai. Nice to see that you've joined the group that can't get their point across without reverting to personal slurs.
  8. I am not as limber as I used to be, so reverse cowgirl and doggy style work well for transactions.
  9. I forgot to insert 500K 'per year'. Sorry about that.
  10. The headline is extremely misleading. There are 2.4million UK citizens with passports that are more than 10 years old. How many have already applied for a new one? How many have less than 6 months vadility so can travel anyway? How many are actually considering travelling to an EU country? How many have kept up with the rules and actually know they can't travel to an EU country until they get a new passport. There is no chaos.
  11. Kinnock yours is exactly the support I need to read at the moment, thank you mate. It is painful yes, I'll keep your post on hand when I need a bit of extra support. She says she wants a divorce, but she has no grounds for a contested divorce when it's only her that wants it, I've been a good and decent husband. Should I just walk away as many are suggesting?
  12. I never said it did. I was simply using those who work offshore abroad as an example - although there aren't many other reasons why a man would live possibly 10,000km from his wife. So, I'll rephrase it just for you......a MENO is intended for those who for whatever reason, do not live with their spouse in Thailand but visit regularly. Does that fit with your definitions? As for your comments on conversion to an extension. That is not always possible - I for example, was never in the country long enough to go through the procedure required.
  13. I have no intention of causing an argument. But, instead of quoting from handouts and info gained from other sources, try visiting a TRD office and asking for their take on this highly contentious subject. When I visited earlier this month I was greeted with complete surprise and asked why I wanted a TIN number. This from the head lady of the office. She said I was the first person in the province to request this, and having looked at the papers of my income I offered, insisted there was no need. Was I about to argue? It was a case of khorp Khun Khap, a quick wai and I hightailed it out of there.
  14. That's what will need to happen EK, I know. I can get my own visa
  15. Nah. All Biden sold was influence. And access to classified documents for the $8 million he was paid for his memoirs. Then he shared classified information with the ghostwriter. $8 million... https://apnews.com/article/4e07a4374953496194a7086d880d29a2 I'll refer you to the Hur report for details of sharing classified info with the ghostwriter.
  16. The British gave up on Afghanistan long ago, as did the Russians, the Americans, and the UN, not necessarily once or in that order. A complete reboot is necessary, but will never happen. Too much money to be made supplying weapons.
  17. There are many wonderful, devoted, caring and faithful wives in Thailand ...... but sorry to say, yours is not one of those. Press reset and start again. It will be painful at first, but the rewards if you find a good one are worth the effort. And on the other hand .... being single in Thailand is pretty good too!
  18. America is far more dangerous than Thailand. Walking the streets of most parts of Thailand at 3am is perfectly safe (though I'd stay away from areas where lots of shifty/strange foreigners stay, such as Bangla street in Phuket, Nana Soi 3 and surrounds in Bangkok and Soi 6 in Pattaya), though even these places are generally safer than downtown LA/Chicago's west side/Washington DC during the day.
  19. Thai tourist ministers should make a study tour in famous tourists spots in Spain. That will be educational
  20. I absolutely hate hearing this BS. As if Thai families are somehow special. In the news a few weeks ago, a couple of brothers sold their 12 year old sister to a 60 year old one-eyed drunk for a day's use of his fishing net. And don't get me started on the millions of women selling the bodies to send money back to the village only to have their dad piss it away and their mother gamble it away. And their parents know what they are doing for the money. 🤢 The amount of abuse, neglect, and abandonment I have witnessed in families here is shocking. It's just so common. But, to add insult to injury, they've got to take care of their so-called "parents" when they are old. And they brag about family being everything here, lol. It's just about money. They have monetized the beautiful thing that is family. I reckon if they knew how the average Western family treats each other, they'd be confused and likely in denial at the genuine love and respect, rather than their manipulation and exploitation.
  21. Problem is I don't think you actually understood the covert ironic meaning of my post. I was extrapolating from the dumb logic underlying the article's statement "earth rotation governs time".
  22. There are quite a few "leaders" in this world who should receive an injection of high-velocity lead, into the skull. Followed swiftly by their acolytes.
  23. From the press release: As has been repeatedly affirmed, Israel is committed to international law, Israel is committed to meeting its legal obligations, including with respect to humanitarian assistance, Yet, the ICJ made the order yesterday, full text here: https://www.icj-cij.org/sites/default/files/case-related/192/192-20240328-ord-01-00-en.pdf
  24. Maybe. But not certain. In any case there's no going back now to the old monarchy.
