They also broke the windows and some M79 grenades were fired at the building. The fire was put out before it engulfed the building. webfact Posted May 19, 2010 Author Share Posted May 19, 2010 Summary of operations to gain control of Rajprasong Army spokesman Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnerd on Wednesday summed up the security operations leading to the surrender of the red-shirt leaders. 5.45 am the security forces start the operation to take control of Lumpini Park at Saladaeng and surrounding areas. 7.15 am the security forces assume control of Lumpini Park and advance toward the Rajpraong rally site. Before noon, the security forces began to advance and take control of areas approaching the rally site, reaching the final red defence line. By 1.15 pm, the security forces could take control of the entire areas surrounding the rally site. The red-shirt leaders announce their surrender. By 2.00 pm, the security forces ceased applying pressure on the rally site. He called the red-shirt leaders, 'terrorist leaders,' and said they will have to enter the judicial process. The fire was spreading to nearby buildings while local residents tried but failed to control it. The SET is located in the Klong Toey area, right next to the Queen Sirikit National Convention center. The black smoke and stench filled the air. At 3.30 pm, out of control men dressed in black and one half naked man started pullinq a metal barrier across the Charoen Muang Road not far from the Thai Military Bank. All businesses have closed up on that section of the road. I did not walk any closer to those deranged animals. At 3.45 pm and I returned to my home in Chiang Mai. At 4: 10 pm there are helicopters overhead in the area of Prince Royal School.. Now we can only pray for peace to return to our beautiful Thailand. webfact Posted May 19, 2010 Author Share Posted May 19, 2010 The Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES) has announced curfew in Bangkok and nearby cities and provinces in the North and Northeast earlier placed under emergency law. People in areas under curfew are not allowed to leave their homes from 8pm to 6am, with immediate effect. State authorities are allowed to perform their duties in the restricted areas to restore peace and order. The firefighting department has been able to put the fire under control at some areas but others remain unreachable and unsafe for firemen to entire. These areas include; 1. Siam Square and Paragon: firefighters are unable to enter the area, red-shirt protesters are armed and are shooting at will 2. Centara Grand: fire has been put out 3. Stock Exchange of Thailand office: firemen unable to enter the area 4. Mahachon Plaza (entrance of Wireless Rd-Ploenchit Rd): firemen also unable to approach the area 5. They broke into the Central World's building and set fire inside the buildings. They also broke the windows and some M79 grenades were fired at the building. At first fire fighters and fire engine trucks could not go inside the area to put out the fire as the area is not safe and they face with red shirts' blockage. Finally the fire fighters could distinguish the blaze. Smoke was also seen rising from the Platinum shopping mall. Protesters burned tyres on the inbound Lard Prao Road at 2 pm. The fire sent thick smoke billowing over the road. By 2.15 pm, half an hour after the surrender of the red-shirt leaders on Wednesday, a number of red shirts have continued to riot. The reds camping out at Klong Toei remain sceptical that their leaders really turned themselves to police. They vowed to continue protesting. The reds at Samyan continue to wreak havocs by burning tyres and blocking traffic near the Pheu Thai Party on Rama IV Road.
