Yes, doctors move around But do you really think that top doctors, many who trained internationally, would move from a quality private hospital to a lower Gov't. hospital.

Diazepam, or similar, can be bought at some pharmacies. You would need to ask around, possible asking some of the younger people, about the diazepam. No pharmacies' will sell you codeine but there some clinics that have it. My Thai lady was given a smaller amount of codeine pills when she did her breast implants. Another option for the codeine is to buy some poppy seeds at Friendship market in Pattaya. Easy to make the tea and Google can show you how. You need to VERY careful as you sip the tea as it contains both codeine and morphine. Highly addictive as you might imagine. You will have all the usual side effects of codeine and morphine. Poppy seeds are expensive.

Years ago, I read that ulcers are best treated with a certain antibiotic. Google would know more. Just a suggestion.

I agree that for holiday visitors taking both of these would be a good idea if they plan to bareback. I know that acyclovir is used to limit herpes infections and can also used used full time, at lower dosages, to limit or prevent outbreaks. I'm purely speculating that if you took a full dose of acyclovir for 1-2 weeks while on holiday that it 'might' prevent you from getting herpes. The drug stops the herpes virus from replicating But I don't know if it would actually stop a person from getting the infection initially. I'm old so I remember back in the 70's, where there was no HIV and not much talk about herpes. We screwed like crazy and the worst thing I ever got was the 'drip', Gonorrhea that was easy cleared up by a shot of penicillin or taking some pills for a few days. Those were the days of Sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. Sex was carefree, fun, and usually free. Times have changed.

I believe that I read that the Doxy PEP can be taken for up to 4 months continuously. It does seem like a lot of pills to take just to 'maybe' have relatively safe condom free sex. Some might conclude that is more trouble than it is worth. It's a personal decision for each to make.

A quick Google search using "Doxycycline for STI Prevention:" will show many different results . Some show 50% protection, some show 70-80% protection, depending on many factors. A lot of different results seem to depend on if you run into drug resistant gonorrhea. Pattaya has a lot of resistant gonorrhea due to the high number of sex workers. All the results are Far from the 99% that PeEP offers. Your right that you could just treat infections if or when you get them. I'm guessing that there are men who will take the PrEP along with the Doxy PEP so they have potentially avoid most of the sexually transmitted diseases. I believe that I read that the Doxy PEP is only 65% effective in preventing gonorrhea and syphilis. Then you still might get the genital warts and herpes. The good old fashioned condom, with no side effects, has a lot to offer. Taking all these pills just so you can come inside a sex worker does seem like a lot of effort and risk to your body, liver and kidneys, and your still not 100% protected from gonorrhea, syphilis, warts, and herpes. Agree 100%. In the case of someone who has had 3 colonoscopy's already and never had any polyps, now age 70, it seemed like it might be good. I did read about false negatives and false positives but the regular colonoscopy doesn't even check for cancer/blood and relies on visual inspection only. I could be wrong or misunderstanding the info. I never heard about this test and thought it was a new thing but I think I read it came out 10 years ago. Can it be bought in Thailand ?? Poppy seed tea is also very effective for pain. It contains morphine and codeine and other chemicals. Easy to make, just Google it for instructions. Don't eat the seeds but just wash off the chemicals found on the outside of the seeds and drink the liquid. As it does contain morphine/codeine be careful and start out Very slowly. It can be addicting and will get you high. No surprise there. Seed prices have recently gone up a lot. In Pattaya, the only place I have seen poppy seeds sold is at Friendship markets for 1,075 baht a kilo. You should only drink a small amount and wait one hour to see how you feel. You can always drink more But you don't want to do too much. One thing to keep in mind with poppy seeds or Kratom is that being a natural product chemicals found inside will vary greatly between batches, due to growing conditions and various strains. WARNING: do NOT take poppy seeds when you travel outside Thailand as in some countries they are illegal and you can be jailed. All other parts of the poppy plant are illegal most everywhere. Be careful and be safe. You can get all the usually side effects that normally come from morphine.

Yes, he said he did ask the doctor about a "wait and see" approach? I'm sure the doctor gave him reasons why he was against this but I'm not so sure if my son completely understood them. There seems to be no one clear certain way to handle this. Two doctors have said he should be on the meds. so it will have to be his final choice. Thanks very much for your help and time.

Hello Sheryl, My son went to the Bumrungard Hospital today and saw Dr. Sikawat Thanaviratananich. He looked at the MRI that my son had done at Pattaya Bangkok hospital, which didn't show anything special. He said that he could/should do a 'spinal tap' to further rule out things. He advised that he continue on the KEPPRA 500 mg, for at least 2 years and then decide whether or not to continue this medication. He also suggested that he start the 'Keto' diet next month . My son has felt fine for the past week, no further seizures. I am surprised and disappointed that he doesn't seem to want and take the wait-and-see approach. I do not like what I have read about this KEPPRA 500 mg side effects, considering that many people never get another seizure and are taking this medication for nothing. I am certainly in no position to question or challenge this doctors recommendations but from what little I have read I would think that a wait-and-see approach would be best. . I wasn't there with him during the doctors visit so I don't know exactly what was said. I definitely replayed your points about asking for a second opinion and Not wanting to start medication unless he thought it was absolutely necessary. Your thoughts please. Thank you very much.

I would be interested in getting some better interest than the crazy low rates Thai banks are paying. I have a USA passport. Can I still open bank accounts in Cambodia? I know many/most countries do not want to bother with USA customers due to the reporting requirements of the USA govt. I opened several Thai banks about 12 years ago and back then the Thai banks didn't care so much about USA reporting laws. How could I move the money to Cambodia ? I have money in Thai banks and some on the internet in crypto. Crypto coin transfers would be good if any of the banks would accept them. Would hand carrying $25K in cash be a problem ?
