I have always taken my Thai wife with me to the immigration office , when applying for a 1 year retirement extension , I feel that if there was a problem when applying for the extension ,I think that having the Thai wife sat beside me to translate and put my point of view / explanation to the IO in Thai seems a better option than attending alone.
When applying for the 1 year retirement extension I always take a brief case full of every thing I can think of that may be requested including my Thai wife’s Blue house book and her Thai ID card. On this particular day when applying for my 1 year retirement extension the IO specifically asked for the wife’s Blue house book and her Thai ID card . I included my Yellow House book and its details were taken by the IO , but it was not originally requested at that time by the IO.
I was not asked to produce any photographic evidence of where I live / photographs showing my self and Thai wife at home or provide a map showing directions to our house.
As we all know by now the immigration rules / requirements may be interpreted in different ways depending at which immigration office your are attending and if the IO dealing with your application paperwork is in a good mood ????As a side comment , I always seem to get on better with a female IO officers than a male one ????

Just did my 1 year retirement extension this was what I had to do / show / happened
My Thai bank book - Krungsri - Bank of Ayudhya - Mee Tae Dai Savings Account had to show it had at least 800,000 Baht that had been deposited in that account for at least 3 months prior to the application date .
I went to my branch of Krungsri Bank and asked for a confirmation letter to show the balance in my Mee Tae Dai Savings Account . The charge for that confirmation letter was 100 Baht and took about an hour to process. The confirmation letter had to be correctly addressed to the immigration office where the application is to be made.
That same day I went to Korat immigration along with my Thai wife and submitted the following items
One completed TM7 form + photograph
Original copy of the Krungsri Bank confirmation letter + 1 photocopy
My original Krungsri Bank book + 1 photocopy
My passport + 1 photocopy of all pages.
My Thai wife's Blue house book + 1 photocopy.
My Thai wife's ID card + 1 photocopy.
My Yellow house book ( Tor Lor Sip Sam ) + 1 photocopy
Application fee – 1,900 Baht
As you enter the main immigration office building door on the left hand side is a long table that was staffed with 5/6 young lady’s , here you hand over your completed form and paperwork which will then be checked.
I was told that the entries in my Krungsri Bank book would not be accepted , the reason being that the last financial movement in the account was not made on the same day as my application .
This Krungsri Mee Tae Dai Savings Account is only used for the yearly retirement extension application and not for day to day living expenses , In the past I had withdrawn several amounts
of money a week before the application date , just to show some sort of money movement , which in all the past years applications was accepted without question. So a week before this new retirement extension application I had done the same and moved some money about in bank account to show movement .
So this time I was told that a movement of money in the bank account used for the application has to be shown on the same day as the application . So I asked the young lady what in her view would now be the best course of action . She said go to the nearest Krungsri bank and deposit 100 Baht in the account . Then come back to the immigration office with the now updated Krungsri bank book.
I then said well if I go and do that now then the Krungsri Bank confirmation letter that I had already been and got to day will show a different amount , now that I have just been and deposited an extra 100 Baht in the account.
Off the young lady went to see her boss.
The answer came back that if I went today and deposited 100 Baht in the bank account , and came back to the immigration office before it closed , then the Krungsri Bank confirmation letter
would be accepted even thought the updated + 100 Baht balance now did not match the Krungsri Bank confirmation letter. So off we went to a nearby Krungsri Bank , and deposited 100 Baht in the bank account and made sure the the bank book now showed the updated amount including the extra 100 Baht deposit.
Arrived back at the immigration office and had the paperwork checked by the same young lady who had suggested depositing the 100 Baht in the bank account.
The Krungsri Bank book was checked to see the 100 Baht update was there , and all the other papers were approved including the now incorrect Krungsri Bank confirmation letter . I was then asked to fill out a extra new form ( two page STM.2 - สตม.2) .
When my queue number was called we went and sat in front of a lady IO , and every thing was approved.
The Lady IO did say that on my ( first ) next 90 Day report I should go to my Krungsri Bank and get the same account bank book that I used for my extension application made up and that for a duration of 90 days after my retirement extension application I was not to withdraw any money from that Krungsri Bank account. I was to show the 90 Day report IO my made up bank book at the same time I did my 90 Day report.
I asked the IO lady what about after the first 90 day report ( second ) , could I withdraw money from the same bank account , the IO said yes as long as you leave 400,000 baht in the account until the next 1 year retirement application date and then you will again have to show a minimum of 8000,000 Baht at that application time. I asked if I needed to again show my updated bank account book when doing my second 90 day report ( 180 days ) . The lady IO said she was not sure as things may be changing again.
So this time when applying for my 1 year retirement application based on having 8000,000 Baht in a Thai bank , The the Krungsri Bank confirmation letter has to be obtained on the same day as the application , and there has to be financial movement shown in the account on the same day of the retirement extension application . I was also told that a Bank confirmation letter would only be valid on the day it was issued .
I did notice that all the IO staff were ladies , and although hearing that a movement of money in the bank account used for the application has to be shown on the same day as the application and the Bank confirmation letter would only be valid for one day , which all came as a big surprise , over all the experience at Korat immigration office was pleasant .
As with all Immigration offices , the rules / requirements could be different , the above is what happened to me at Korat immigration.

It doesn’t make any difference. Regardless of when you apply your next extension will start on March 26th
After March 1st you’ll need to comply with the new application requirements, which are no different for you.
As your next extension starts after March 1st you are going to have to comply with the new rules for the next year to qualify for an extension next year. As you don’t touch the 800K that’s not an issue for you.
But if you do want to withdraw funds after March 1st you’re going to have to comply with the new minimum balances regardless of when you apply now.
Thanks for the advice , So really then there’s no point in going early to apply for my extension .

I have always done my extension of stay 1 month before it expires as the IMO told me many years ago that you can renew the visa 1 month in advance I only got turned a way once as they were to busy on the day I went . It would be interesting to know how you got on maybe you can do another post as a follow up to your experience .
I will post back on how every thing goes ????

A big thanks to every one for your comments and help Its appreciated ????
Well it looks like I have the following options / possible problems
1. I go on the appointed date of the 26 of March and have to comply
with the new regulations relating to keeping 800K for 3 months after
the application and also comply with the new regulation relating to
keeping a remaining bank balance of 400K for the rest of the year after
the application
2. Contact the immigration office where I will be applying for my
next 1 years retirement extension based on a bank balance of 800K
and ask the IO, if I go early before the 1 st of march will the new regulations
still apply to my early application .
3. If I am told NO the new regulations will not apply to my early application then I go and apply on the 25 of February .
4. I arrive early for my application on the 25 of February
only to be told by a different IO that although its not yet
March the 1 st , my early application still comes under the
new 1 st of March regulation.
May be as I don’t intend to withdraw any money from my Thai bank account that I use for the 800K requirement after the retirement extension application has been submitted , it could be less hassle just to go on the appointed date , even though it may mean that ( yet unknown ) I may have to produce extra paperwork / bank statements at some future time during the granted 1 year period - I’m still not sure .????

My 1 year extension of stay ( based on retirement ) is due on the 26 of March 2019 - My next 90 day report is due on the 8 of March .
I have 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank that’s been deposited for many years and it never goes below 800,000 Baht . I have used a bank statement in all of my past 1 year extension renewal applications without any problems.
I am wondering if its now better to apply for my coming 1 year extension of stay early , say on the the 25 of February , which would be 28 days in advance.
If I leave my application until the 26 of march the new retirement policy rules will be in effect , and I’m not sure what that means in the way of me providing any new paperwork / bank statements on any subsequent 90 day report that complies with the keeping of 800K in my Thai bank 3 month after the application
The other area I'm not sure about is this part - You can then withdraw up to 400K, but must leave a remaining balance of 400K throughout the year ( does that mean I have to show a bank statement every 90 days when reporting ? )
So it sounds if I can do my new 1 year extension of stay ( based on retirement ) before the first of March , it will be less hassle for one year .
Have I got this right or am I missing some thing
Thanks .

Just arrived and setting up my condo with a few new things including a new television
and ive been looking around the stores and finally decided on a Samsung
plasma , one thing i noticed when walking around looking for a television
was none of them were showing any thai normal television programs only
some thing playing from a DVD , i asked one of my condo neighbors about
this and they said that buying a decent large television is a waste of time
un less you are going to use it primarily for watching some thing from DVD's
as any normal thai television from an antenna or that UCB satellite thing
will all ways look bad . i do have cable television in my condo and planned
to pay for that , but the thought of paying a lot for a large new television
and not being able to watch normal television programs on it makes me wonder
if its worth it , or just buy a less expensive model .
Any one doing the OMAD diet ( One Meal a Day )

A friend in the uk keeps telling me how he’s made great progress in his weight loss quest by following some thing called the OMAD diet . I have done some google searching about this type of diet and over all the comments generally seem positive.
The One Meal A Day (OMAD) diet is a form of intermittent fasting where you fast for 23 hours and eat for the same 1-hour window each day.
Just wondering if any one here is currently doing / has in the past been on this OMAD routine and can comment on how things worked out .
