  1. It might be possible to get a passport in one day if it was an emergency. It would have to done at the main passport office at Chaeng Wattana.

Normal procedure is to apply for the passport and they send the new one by EMS within a few days.

List of passport offices is here in Thai. http://www.consular.go.th/main/th/organize/21037-%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%99%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%B7%E0%B8%AD%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%97%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%87.html

    Thanks everyone for your answers

  2. Thai nationals can enter Thailand on expired passports.

    Thanks for quick response.

Then is it possible for my son to leave Thailand on the UK passport (if they cannot get the Thai passport because of time issues ) . Would this cause any problems? The UK passport won't have any immigration stamps

( we can then get a new Thai passport later, in the UK )

If they enter on their expired Thai passports they would have to get new ones before leaving the country. It takes less than a week to get a Thai passport. There are passport offices located in all areas of the country.

Thanks for your reply. Is it possible to get a new Thai passport within 1 day in BKK do you know please?

  4. Hi

We live in the UK. My Thai wife has to take our son (both dual nationality Thai / Brit ) to Thailand for at least 2 months. My wife will come home within a week, but leave our son in Thailand. This is at short notice. So they will leave the UK within 1 - 2 weeks. Their Thai passport have just expired (3rd July 2016). They have Thai ID cards. They can go to BKK passport office and get new Thai passports issued when there.

So they will have to leave the UK on their British passports and what about entering Thailand. Immigration can extend a tourist visa by 30 days i think if requested, so that will be 2 months. But what happens if my son has to stay 2 1/2 months? If he leaves Thailand on his UK passport will he get in trouble? It is a bit complicated. I guess he cannot leave on his (hopefully ) newly issued Thai passport as that may cause a problem with the UK passport.

So is 2 months holiday visa the best option here ?

    Thanks in advance

  5. not sure if i am allowed to post this website. but is it is http://ukcitizenshipsupport.com/

you have to pay for this

my wife's memory and reading skills are not good. sorry to say, but with the help of this website, and i mean this 100%, she worked through 3/4 of the practise questions, and there were 100's of them, and she passed her life in uk test 2 weeks ago.

without the help of this website she would not have had the confidence to do the test

    well done my wife :)

  7. Looking at the list below, and thinking of who we can ask, would a fireman (list says fire service official ) or a health visitor ( someone who visits house bound people in their homes to give them their medication and do injections ) ????? be acceptable

ive now answered my own question so no point in replying. thank you anyway, my fireman friend can act as referee

  8. i have done a search for this on the forum, but have no luck

    ie http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/659376-referees-and-identity-for-british-citizenship/

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/589418-uk-naturalisationcitizenship-referees/

but when i click the link given in the reply in the thread, i cannot see the list. maybe they are now out of date

can someone please give me an up to date list of acceptable referees.???

would someone who owns their own small chain of estate agents be included on the list? i guess a headteacher would be on the list?

    thanks for any help

  9. Hi, I live in the UK, I am a British passport holder, and live with my thai wife and 2 thai step children here. They have indefinite leave to remain.

I would like to take my family on a holiday on a cruise ship around the Mediterranean. Would be for about 10 nights

Fly to Italy, board the ship. The ship will call at italy, Greece, spain and France then return to Italy, where we fly home.

I know little about obtaining these visas.

Would i need a visa for each country? Will be a bit of a headache if i do.

would i need to provide receipts for the booking and air flights before i apply?

what other Information would i need to give

bit of a nightmare if they said no, after i had paid for the holiday.

If too complicated would be a lot easier to sail out of Singapore. Though i would love to show them the sights of the med.

    Any help welcome

  10. Hi. I am married to my wife ( but of course ) and I have 2 step children. we live in the UK. I and they, would like to have my surname. last summer we went to surin's ampur to enquire about this but was told we would have to go through the process of adoption in bangkok first, before we could change their surnames.

can someone please provide a link or provide information on where we need to go, what details i need to provide, and can we change the surname in BKK or do we have to go back to surin to do this?. and how long does the process take? i am thinking maybe we can go to thailand this coming summer for 1 - 2 weeks and get this all done.

    any guidance is most welcome

    thanks

  11. i am thinking of going to dubai or new york, for a short break. i particuarly like shopping in a good shopping mall ( for example central world in BKK ) - which has good restaurants, cinema, and shops

do these cities have excellent shopping malls, do you know what they are called?

can you suggest any other cities which have excellent shopping malls ( do you know the names of the malls? ) - except asia and australia

    thanks

  12. My Thai wife has nearly been in the UK 3 years ( 2 years on sett visa and nearly 1 year indef leave to remain ). - 1 november 2014. in those 3 years we had 2 x 3 week holiday.

lets presume my wife has life in uk test , and has an entry level 3 ESOL english language spoken certificate.

Can i ask please at what date can she send in her citizenship application form? is it from the 1st November onwards?

Will she need to send in any other papers or will i have to provide any other papers ?

i understand it can take anything from 6 - 9 months from sending in the application to getting the apssport interview. is this still the case?

  13. i have flown 1st class many times with Thai, as well as business.

i dont know the names of the aircraft, but recently flew from heathrow to bkk, on a newer plane and 1st class was very good, with nice seating and good privacy from other passengers. on the return trip the plane was older, and the seat was not as good, and privacy poor. service is always good. but if the plane is an older type then business would be preferable.

from BKK to LDN you get the first class lounge which is always nice.

  14. have spent a week at centara hua hin with my wife and 2 kids. we checked out this morning leaving the room at 6.15 am. when we left I saw a member of the reception staff waiting discretly down the stairs. I assumed to check the mini bar in our room. don't know why, but I thought hmmmm. I had left 1000 baht in 100's plus a few 20's plus coins on the side.

we had breakfast and I asked my 2 children to go and check if the money was still there. they returned and said nothing was there. no coins and no notes. ( I didn't know this till later ) but when my 2 kids left the room and were going downstairs the man saw them. he was in another bedroom. my kids saw him there.

we went to reception, and I said said we had left 1000 baht in the room, as a tip for the cleaner. my kids had gone to the room and told me the money had gone. they called the man over, who had checked the room, and he told the reception staff the money was there. at this point it was obvious he had been caught out. as I was checking out still, I asked my kids to go back to the room with the man.

the first thing my kids saw was the coins under a tissue. hidden by the tissue, which is not how I left them. the man said to my kids the notes are under a large bunch of grapes. he said he put them under there to stop them falling off the table. now, when my kids went up to check the first time, there were no notes there and no coins under a tissue. my kids are thai, and said when he spoke to them he was very nervous, and was spluttering his words. when he saw my kids leaving the room, after they had looked for the money, he must have gone back there and '''hid''' the money.

they all came back to reception and my kids told me what they saw. I knew he was on the steal. I made it very clear to reception that the money was for the cleaner, and cleaner only.

I will email the general manager and voice my concerns.

the thing is, this must happen a lot I am sure. it is not fair. the cleaners get paid very little.

if you are giving a tip ever to the cleaners, give it to them directly.!!

  15. thanks for replies

I will be coming from surin. I am in a hire car. I will need to drop the car off at the airport then go back to the hotel ( looked at the sunee grande so might try ).

looked on the map again and cant see the ring road 231.

I will get google maps - good idea.

my thai wife will be with me so hopefully everything will go ok. I know I will go over a river, the road will widen. then on the right I will pass TMB bank and then SK shopping park, then it is the right turn there.

  16. coming up route 24 south to north, I know you take a right to the airport, according to my map. the road is called uppalisan rd.

on route 24 is it well sign posted for the airport

    thanks

  17. If you are moving to Australia because of family ties I believe it can take a long time to get a visa.

Last I looked about 18 months ago the queue time was about 10 years!

This was when we were living in Australia and looking to bring in the brother of my Thai wife (my wife is an Australian permanent resident). He also has no special skills so could not be sponsored by a business on a 457 visa. You may be able to get sponsored but would need to look into this and the "required skills" list.

My information is a little dated so you would be advised to look into the Dept of Immigration and Border Protection website as previously advised https://www.immi.gov.au/immigration/

yes I looked on that website and filled in the visa form to see what visa I could apply for, but it came up with no results. I will try and phone them today

    You're welcome,

That's unusual Kunash as every time I have used the visa questionaire it returns a result? I would check carefully and give it another go.

The call centre phone queue times are quite long. I have hung up after about 40 mins wait on a number of occassions previously. The best time I found to call is first thing AM opening hours (AESST).

You could also try the Australian embassy in the UK but I expect that they too, will direct you to the website.

Another alternative, and the best I think would be if you could make an appointment with the Embassy to go over your situation and request.

On another note, after rereading your post and hazarding an educated guess, it would probably make the paperwork easier if your wife has the UK citizenship you are planning rather than having to sort out Thai and possibly UK paperwork for AU Immigration.

Have you visited Australia with your wife yet? Probably good to show intent if you can arrange at least one holiday downunder at the appropriate time so you could tell AU Immigration you have "checked it out" for a possible move later. They like that sort of stuff.

thanks. we will definitely travel to Aus for a holiday, so my wife can meet up with her sister. she hasn't seen her for years now. I have been to Brisbane and Sydney - both great cities. apparently my wife was told by her sister the Aus government have now made it even harder to go down the family route for a visa. so that may be a no no.

just tried the helpline (Europe service centre) and it is open 1-4pm, so will try later

seems the only viable routes now would be my income ( I will have to ask about this ), or invest money in by brother in law's business, or job offer possibly.

    cheers
