  1. Without a referendum just where is the proof that any new constitution has mass acceptance?

It quite clearly states "the CDC members will be visiting people in each part of the country to gather public opinions and will also listen to opinions from different sectors including the cabinet and the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)

This is going to be as honest and transparent as the recent polls showing the PM is the best, the most popular, the fairest that Thailand has ever had. His popularity is not equalled in any country outside North Korea.

    So don´t worry....... be happy!

  2. Lawyer Aung Myo Thant said the pair, Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Htun, both 21, from the Arakanese town of Kyaukphyu, told a Burmese embassy legal team they had murdered English tourists

Speaking to DVB on Monday, Kyaw Thaung, a representative of the Myanmar Association in Thailand, who attended the interview with the defendants, said, “We went to the prison [on Koh Samui] and were allowed to meet with the two freely. They confessed to committing the crime under the influence of alcohol.

I am going to keep an open mind for the moment

Two migrant workers from Myanmar reportedly recanted their confessions today, telling a lawyer from the Burmese embassy they did not kill David Miller and Hannah Witheridge last month on Koh Tao.

Attorney Aung Myo Thant from the Burmese Embassy made his comments after meeting with the two men, Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Htun, who Thai police said had confessed to the crime.

In Burmese media reports, the lawyer said the two men told him they only confessed because they were forced to under torture.

"They told me that they were on the beach that night drinking and singing songs,” he said. “They said they didn't do it, that the Thai police (along with their Burmese-Thai translator) beat them until they confessed to something they didn't do. They're pleading with the Burmese government to look into the case and find out the truth. They were a really pitiful sight. Their bodies had all sorts of bruises. I have already reported all that I have seen today to my government."

Aung Myo Thant characterized it as a “set up” that wasn’t based on evidence.

He added that he was denied access to a third suspect originally detained, Maung Maung, because police said he is “a crucial witness” they do not want interference with.

Meanwhile Thai police authorities today said they’d met with Myanmar representatives who were “satisfied” with the results of their investigation.

  3. Got nothing to do with martial law, but people are getting fed up with the fake smiles, double-pricing, dangerous roads, a policeforce corrupt beyond belief and a in general quite violent society!!

Get your house in order, and people will come back!coffee1.gif

Got nothing to do with martial law

    What are you on about?

"Before travelling to Thailand check with your insurance provider that they will continue to cover for claims arising from the current situation. Some travel insurance policies exclude cover following a military coup or the imposition of martial law, and your insurance may be invalid" -uk.gov warning-

There have also been stories in European press of curfews, censorship of press, lack of human rights, torture, killings, dangers of wearing a bikini, military personnel been made Judges without the competence, intelligence, training and certainly not the qualifications to be one. Wrist bands and electronic devices tourist might have to wear under this regime is a large reason people like myself are trying somewhere new and not returning to Thailand this year

  4. In picking his cabinet, I guess the good general could not have been expected to get it right every time. Dearie me. But this idea won't be heard of again.

I think his choice was spot on.

This is a great idea I particularly like the idea of being paired with a buddy who could show them what to see and hear. also explain why the Junta had to overthrow a democratically elected government , also teach Thai style democracy to ignorant tourists. They could also let the ladies know if they were unattractive enough to wear a bikini.

This like many other great ideas this one is not new.I am sure this is based on a policy Russia used in the 50´s and 60´s which was very successfully run by the KGB.

These new policies are going to be an apollo 1 boost to the Thai tourist industry.

I am hoping the PM is going to include these electronic devices into one of his soaps which I am eagerly awaiting.

  5. "I'm sorry that it hurt people," Prayut said at a hastily convened press conference in Bangkok.

"I didn't intend to insult or criticise anyone. I just warned that sometimes people have to be careful... today Thailand is safe except there are some bad guys -- like anywhere in the world."

He never said he was sorry or regretted his bikini remarks.

The cause for increase of earthquakes Promiscuous women are responsible for earthquakes, a senior Iranian cleric has said. Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi told worshippers in Tehran last Friday that they had to stick to strict codes of modesty to protect themselves. "Many women who do not dress modestly lead young men astray and spread adultery in society which increases earthquakes," he said.

Sadly it seems Prayut and cleric Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi think alike.

  6. Forget John Doe's battery pack...after watching this documentary last week, I will not be flying the B787 when a scientist from MIT says Boeing's fix for their lithium-ion battery fires isn't enough. If you don't have an hour to spend watching..just the first 10 minutes is enough to see what a 787's lithium-ion battery is capable of.

    http://www.aljazeera.com/investigations/boeing787/

    Thanks for the link. Wow!

This is worth seeing if your about to book a flight.

If you have already booked a flight on a 787 it would be best not to watch until the flight is over.

  8. No, if you get someone to help you read the article they will tell you that nowhere does it say she was a red shirt. She was a nurse.

Exactly it was never told, as in covered up for the public eyes, to make Abhisit look more bad.

You're not gonna tell me that it is a coincidence that her brother is now at once a red shirt LEADER.

Please, Abhisit doesn't need anyone's help to look bad, he manages this very well with some help from his masters.

Her brothers views are his alone.

  9. "The General is the key to allow the farmers to break free. Like a child that needs discipline to mould their knowledge of right from wrong the red shirts need the army and will thank them one day for freeing them from a regime they are inadvertently feeding the fire of."

I think you might have something here but witch system do you think is best ?

1 Reform through labour "LAOGAI" The Chinese tried this on 50 million Chinese with some reported positive results.+ free labour.

2 Work them to death "GULAG" 4-5 million 6-7 million deported Out of 10-12000 poles sent to Gulags only had a little trouble from the 583 survivers,no more trouble from the others. another plus free labour

    3. Concentration camps. Although this might be 1st choice for Suthep, Miss universe Thailand and a Singha heiress it´s had some very negative feed back in the past.

4 Have a democratic election, treat everyone equally I know this is going to sound horrible : but one person one vote as in democracy. And let the Thai people decide there future. The only problem is the Democratic Party will not want to partake in an election that they are going to lose once again.

  10. Do you really want to leave the future of Thailand in the hands of the below.

The PTP conducted the actual coup 3 years earlier when it manipulated the democratic process and imposed a dictatorship. The Thai military and much of the populace recognized this and this is reversing the coup.

This dictatorship is recognized. A democracy has a wide potential base of support but offers weak incentives to the voters. Dictatorship provides stronger incentives which was a 40% above market value on rice to a narrower supporter base which are the rice farmers that make up 7% of the population of Thailand. And the cherry on the cake is it was sold to the below uneducated buffalo by 2 accused terrorists and a communist leader who fled the country to avoid prosecution years ago.

So rest assured when you read about this coup. You are reading about the reversal of the coup by the brutal UDD and the govt it supporters which is run buy an unelected criminal fugitive.

So when the OP suggests how long will this military or DRT (democracy restoration team) rule last in this scenario I say this. As long as it takes for people to understand that an unelectable, accused terrorist, accused mass murderer, criminal fugitive being backed up by 2 other accused terrorists and a communist is not acceptable.

Key reform is education. It is a tool to enrich people and allow them to manipulate the future through democratic means for the betterment of the majority. Not for thaksin. Not for 7%.

Educate the below. Apart from the terrorist element amongst them they are hard working, honest yet simple uneducated and gullible folk. They need our pity and funding for education to break this cycle of dictatorial abuse of power under a guise of democracy. The buffalo deserve to break the cycle of perpetual poverty through unsustainable hand outs the PTP have made them accustomed too.

The General is the key to allow the farmers to break free. Like a child that needs discipline to mould their knowledge of right from wrong the red shirts need the army and will thank them one day for freeing them from a regime they are inadvertently feeding the fire of.

  11. jointly select an interim non-partisan deputy PM

Suthep will never agree to this as it has to be 100% his way and only people who support him will be considered.

You seem to have a lot of your personal bubbles being popped these days

Suthep is noting more than a figurehead for the Thai people who protest with him

So what Suthep wants is only in his mind

My thai wife and friends where part of the protest

Ant they think this idea is great

If Suthep tried to stop it they would protest against Suthep

If you knock over one of his cones you risk a serious beating, being shot or a knife to the liver

Your wife and her friends might well think again before protesting against Suthep and his guards
