  1.

Problem is -when- you get into an accident, your insurance is void, and paying that off won't be a 200 baht fine.

And yes, getting one is almost equivalent to going to 7-11, only different store.

Are you talking about travel insurance?

NO; we're talking about Car-Insurance: if you're silly enough to NOT have a driver's license and you DO have an accident, then your are NOT covered by any insurance ! !  -  Don't think lightly about this, because this could run in the millions of Baht which you may have to fork-out ! ! !

  2. General Prayuth O-cha knows his people.

    Go get 'em Tiger O-cha!

Yeah; I like this General Prayut: he calls a 'spade-a-spade' and leaves little room for error ! ! !  Where has this man been, all this time ? ? ? - Just imagine where Thailand could/would have been, if this sterling chap had been the Leader say 5 years ago ? ? ? ?

    Full kudos General Prayuth ! ! !

Long Live the King ! !

  3. Well done - Millwall_fan you have hit it right on the head with you comments. Now wait for some trolling from the FAR RIGHT.

The reason why the PDRC has no need to join the so-called National Reform Council is me thinks that that have already put their recommendations in - long ago - one gets that weird feeling that this whole Coup thing had been scripted ages ago - round about when Yingluck won the election with that significant majority.

I'm heading off to Nigeria for a couple of months so will miss being able to witness first-hand this unfolding according to Plan - but I do have an advantage - that Nigeria, for all its faults, decided years ago that Military Governments were finally a thing of the past and now the country is committed to staggering along with their Democracy. The Army has learnt to stay in their barracks and avoid politics (or trying to run a country). The armed forces now do what armies do "best" - fight a war against an Islamic insurgency (Boko Harem) - badly at the moment - but someone has to do it. Hopefully there will be enough soldiers exempt from being on the NLA or part of the Enlightenment Units touring the country to "educate" the population on the Next Phase of the Plan - to fight Thailand's little war in the South - someone has to.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag.

  4. I'm surprised the jet ski scam hasn't come under the scrutiny of the junta...

The "Junta" will certainly get to this huge problem in Pattaya, - and also; don't be surprised to see the clearing of the beach along the entire stretch of the Walking Street, where people have been illegally constructing buildings - and where astonishing amounts of rent etc. have been pocketed by 'influential' people for many decades !  -  This is going to be quiet an eye-opener: stay tuned . . . . . .

  5. Waiting for the day the world gives up on religion. Probably the day that the aliens land.  Would love to see the expression on the pope when he is told aliens have landed.   I'll probably die first.

When I was 9 years old and returned from school (3rd Grade) I asked my Dad about what's up with this guy who came to our school to tell us some X-Mas story . . . . . . the man was a Priest and wore a habit. - My Dad listened to me; understood my question and his answer was simply this: "Never Trust a Man in a Dress, son !"

  6. It just isn't realistic or practical for many of us.  I've been working here for 21 years and if I had been keeping it with me all this time it would bound to have either been lost, stolen or damaged at some point.  Plus stress of that happening or forgetting it.

I thought there was a policy of presenting it when asked in a reasonable amount of time such as 24 hours.  Guess not.

I have also lived/worked here for a long time (22+ years) and in ALL that time, I have never ever been asked to produce any kind of ID or Passport. The only exception is on the highways & by-ways of this Kingdom, where a Thai D/L was always asked for and produced.

  7. I wish you well with your Project; which has obviously been done before. Great looking little car that ! The only 'contribution' I could make is this: I once owned one of these (standard) Caribbeans and even though I liked it, at the time, I was not so impressed with its "driving-quality". With that, I mean that it felt a bit "tinny", "light" and "vulnerable", if you know what I mean. Anyway; I eventually sold this vehicle to a mate of mine. He then took it to Bangkok and a place called "Old Man Emu", which I had never heard of before. [if you Google "Old-Man-Emu" you'll get the whole, impressive, story !] and then he came back with this car and tossed me the keys. I had to take it for a little drive . . . . . . . Well; I could have sworn it was a totally different car, because, not only "no longer tinny"; this car now felt like a small version of a Range Rover ! ! ! Apparently, they changed the suspension and a few other bits & pieces and completely transformed this car. If I remember correctly, the total cost was something like Tbt. 75K - It now had the "wauw" factor, and - now (12 years later !!!!!) my mate still drives this car and is still super-duper happy with it. Just thought I'd share that with you.

  8. There is also the matter of setting a precedent for prosecuting corruption at the policy level. New ground will likely be trod in terms of politicians' accountability.

Thailand needs this so badly. Politicians from all sides need to see they aint untouchable.

Meanwhile Yingluck has wondered aloud why the usually slow-moving commission is moving so quickly on her case, suggesting that her political opponents are influencing it,

Get over yourself girl, the NCPO are pushing this with huge support from a lot of the country one would guess. You and big bruv were too greedy and guess what? It backfired badly, that's why your in the <deleted>.

For the sake of the country, this trial needs to go ahead.

Meanwhile Yingluck has wondered aloud why the usually slow-moving commission is moving so quickly on her case, suggesting that her political opponents are influencing it ? ? ? ?

The problem for Yingluck is, that this case (Rice Pledging Scheme) is, basically, a very simplistic scheme - and therefore, any fraud committed within that scheme is very easily made evident.

Let's not forget that the amount of money which 'disappeared' amount to + Tbt. 780 Billion ! ! ! This is an amount of money hardly anybody can get his head around, but just give this a try:

    Tbt. 780,000,000,000.-

is equal to: 780,000 brand-new, top of the line Ford Rangers,

    or is equal to: 350,000 brand-new, basic Mercedes-Benz C-Class

or is equal to: : 7,647,059 Years of an average Thai's yearly income (if taking an average Thai' Workers annual income @ Tbt. 8,500.-/month) - that is more than 7 1/2 million Thai' peoples yearly earnings ! ! !

The big question here is: WHERE DID THIS MONEY GO ? ? ? ?

Once their in-depth investigations are completed, we will know the answer to this and THAT will make extremely interesting reading, I reckon ! ! !

I also believe that, once this evidence (of who were the REAL beneficiaries of this Mega-Fraud) becomes public, a lot of so-called Red-Shirts may just change their allegiance . . . . . . . . .

I, for one, salute this current "Military Junta", because what Thailand has been in dire need of, over the past 20 years, was a benevolent Leader; well, now Thailand HAS this benevolent-leader and - as they say in the States: "The Proof Is In The EATING . . . . . ." - Voila !

  9. Then I suppose the next question must be....

Is it legit to use these with the tailgate down? How do the BIB deal with this? Any issues or good to go?

Apparently; it is illegal to operate a pick-up truck with the tailgate 'down' on the Kingdom's Highways. You better check with the Transport Department before spending any money, is my advice.

  10. I have been to a Starbucks a few times, a coupe of years ago. I am NOT a stingy person at all; however - once I realized how ridiculously over-priced they were and the very mediocre quality of their coffees - I have stayed away from Starbucks out of sheer principle ! ! !

If I want to waste money; I'd rather it went to a worthy charity: NOT to Starbucks ! !

  11. -snip-

I remember an exam given to a group of high school students here who had been studying European history (in English) starting with WW I and going through WW II and up to the early days of the EU. A great deal of time was spent on WW II. The most common answer (on multiple choice) for Hitler was "The capital city of Spain". The most common answer for what was the Holocaust was "A movie".

    Unreal.

And herein lies the problem; the "Post baby-Boom Generation" has less than a vague understanding of what actually took place between 1939 to 1945. Because the atrocities committed by the Nazis were so indescribable & unspeakable; this younger generation simply cannot get their heads around this and hence they lose interest.

This part of our history should be compulsory reading all across the world - Lest We Forget ! ! ! !

  12. Bung Moktar Radin is a Muslim; perhaps the fact that the Nazis, under the leadership of A.H. managed to kill 9,000,000 Jews may have something to do with his "joke" ? ? ?

Shame on this Moron Bung Moktar Radin and may karma catch-up with him sooner, rather than later.

    Shalom to him too ! ! !

  13. Pathetic to know that a small elite of total Morons is so capable of brainwashing & brutally suppressing an entire population. Surely, the free men of this world must eventually take some serious action against this very dangerous elite ? ! ? !

I feel so bad for all those poor paupers who can barely feed themselves, being "governed" by these absolute evil criminals who languish in luxury themselves ! ! ! ! ! !

Who's going to take that important first step ?

"For Evil to be Successful, all Good Men have to Do, is Nothing . . . . . . ."

  14. Utter nonsense to 'ban alcohol' on these trains ! ! In fact, I don't drink, but I fail to see the connection between paxes "drinking" and an employee raping/killing a pax.

There's only one (1) factor important here, and that the screening-process (or the lack thereof) by the SRT.

The one thing I don;t understand is this: How did this "animal" gain such unhindered access to this poor 13 year old kid, who was traveling with THREE (3) companions, one of which was her older sister ? ? ? ? ? What I specifically mean is: WHERE WERE THESE 3 PEOPLE WHEN THIS LITTLE GIRL WAS RAPED & KILLED ? ? ? ? ?

    I find this truly amazing.

  15. Look up "Luk-Dod Shop"; this is a very large shop, located in Soi Yumai about 800 meters before you get to North Pattaya Rd. They have a huge selection and they will also take care of shipping the items to anywhere in the world for you. BTW; this is the same place where most of the Beach Rd. type vendors actually purchase their stock.

A couple of important things you should know about Buddha Statues/Images (if you don't mind):

    1. Always handle with respect & reverence

    2. When placing in the home, make sure these statues/images face to the direction where the sun first rises.

    3. Always ensure that these statues (when hung to a wall, or placed on a shelf) are ALWAYS higher than your own head, when in a standing position.

    4. Before 'moving' or 'cleaning' such statues/Images, show your respect before touching them, by 'asking their permission' to do so.

Also; when you're back home - and make gifts of these items, make sure the recipient is also aware of these 'rules' and whenever encountering Buddha statues/images in your friends' homes.

There was a huge outrage, recently, when it became apparent that many "owners" of these types of statues overseas, had placed Buddha-Heads on floors etc. This is extremely insulting to Buddhists and only shows total ignorance by the offending individuals.

Last but not least; Buddhist do not believe that anyone can actually "own", or "buy" a Buddha statue or image; they believe than one can only just "rent' such a Statue or Image for an unspecified time, after which it will revert to someone else, for a while.

    Hope this helps,
