  1. Someone like you who is totally incapable of respecting the culture of the country you are visiting should not be allowed to leave home. Your remark about an 8 month pregnant woman should stay at home is not worthy of comment.
  2. You had to have the Proof-of-address to get your Thai driver's license. It may be stapled on a back page in your passport.
  3. When you see that the meter is running have someone turn off all the power in your apartment and see if the meter is still running.

  6. I used a visa agent one time during covid. If I was even able to leave Thailand I knew that I could not return, and they always waited unitil the last minute to announce whether covid extensions would be available. I decided to use an agent since I never knew when I might find myself on overstay. I changed from a non-O Retirement to a 12 month marriage extension. That worked fine until I went to the IO in Phuket 10 months later to renew my visa. The Immigration Officer saw the stamp from upcountry and asked me about that. He told me I would be deported if ever did that again. I had to leave Thailand, return on a tourist visa, applly for a 60 day visa and so on.
  7. I like to make Indian curry at home, too. You can often find a couple varieties of Indian curry sauce and paneer in the frozen section at Makro.
  8. I can tell if they are Russian if I say "Hello" or "Good morning" when walking by the beach early in the morning and they totally ignore me. It's peaceful and uncrowded in the early morning and most people give a friendly reply when you speak to them. That's not the way of most Russians. I have been to Russia a few time and have prior experience with Russian people.
  9. I got a 60 day extension to visit my Thai wife last year when my 12 month marriage extension was denied. The process was pretty easy.
  10. My wife has dual U.S-Thai citizenship, She was ticketed to fly to the U.S. yesterday and realized the day before before that her Thai passport had expired. I told her that she should be able to leave to travel to the U.S. since she is a citizen and she could apply for a new passport once she got to the U.S.. Wrong..... She checked-in with the airline with no problem, but Thai Immigration would not let her leave. Can someone tell me how long it normally takes to get a Thai passport. Do the have an Express Service (for a fee)? Would the process be much faster if she flies to Bangkok to apply instead of going to the Passport Office in Phuket? Thanks!
  11. The extension stamp does not mention RT anywhere. There is a separate very small stamp that says "Thai wife" in Thai. I had the 400k in the bank for the requisite amount of time. Fortunately it was held in a separate account in my name only. I overlooked the requirement that it cannot be in a joint account. The visa agent was expensive, but I agreed to use him with the understanding that going forward I would be able to complete the renewal process on my own without going thru an agent.
  12. I'm sure the agent got around it by paying someone. The extension was also, issued by the Immigration Office in a different province. Not that that should make any difference.
  13. I received a non-OA retirement visa from the Thai embassy in the U.S. in 2019 before health insurance was required. Then in 2020 when that was expiring I applied at Phuket Immigration for a 12 month marriage based extension. We were interviewed. The application and supporting documents were reviewed. Everything went fine. I was given provisional acceptance and told to return in 30 days to pick up my visa. The next day the immigration officer called my wife and said "Sorry. The rules changed. We cannot give you the marriage visa extension". Instead, they gave me 30 days and told me to apply for a Covid extension after that. I didn't have 800k in the bank for a retirement visa, so I went to a visa agent, and he got a marriage based extension for me. It's time for me to renew again. I plan to apply without using an agent, but I'm not sure which rules apply in my case regarding the health insurance requirement. Do the non-OA health insurance requirements apply since my original visa is non-OA, or since I currently have a marriage based extension am I exempt from the health insurance requirement?
