We are writing to convey our sincere apologies for all inconvenience. We are trying the best to combine with the international carriers to recover the international internet leased line. We will provide the latest update information about progress of repairing this accident to customers.

  2. I think the X8-h is. It's a higher spec and minix's flagship android box with their latest tech. Support will be focused on it and even though the older models are still sold, this is the one they want you to buy so if bugs appear or software needs to be updated the x8 will get priority.

Aside from the higher spec I think there are more functions like 4k video support and Audio passthrough capabilities.etc. I understand the x7 is still an outstanding box but he x8 just has a few more bells and whistles. In my opinion the technology and programming are changing every day and what you buy today will most likely be obsolete in a couple of years so you'll have to upgrade anyway, so may as well get the highest spec you can if it's just a few hundred baht more.

  3. I bought mine at pantip 4th floor in the alley that leads to the front elevator. The price was 5000 with a free air remote. There us a thread from a few days ago discussing the minix and a guy just bought one at fortune town for 4700. Here is that thread.

As far as recommending it yes I would. It is a top line unit with a great user support forum. My X8-h worked perfect out of the box but if you encounter a problem setting it up then just post on the forum and either the minix engineers or another user will respond fairly quickly. One problem I had with XbMC on the minix is that the standard " confluence" skin wouldn't give me the tv episode plot synopsis so I downloaded the "hybrid" skin and it fixed the problem. See pic attached

Be careful playing with these tv boxes and XBMC is addictive. I still use my minix box which is less that 2 months old but I have already started to build my own home theatre PC ( htpc) box which to be honest at my level of computer literacy doesn't really perform any better than my minix x8 but it's a lot of fun fooling around with .

  4. @jimbeam

You can use a hotmail account to sign up at xbmchub ( now tv addons ) the registration confirmation email just gets picked up by your hotmail junk filter so you'll find it there. That's what happened to me.

Xbmc is Kodi they are just changing the name. I don't think the first Kodi version is out yet so you will still be downloading xbmc version Gotham 13.1 or 2. When the Kodi version is released you can just update it over your Gotham version without deleting and reinstalling as all versions are built to facilitate this.

When you do install xbmc you will need to download the fusion zip ( the instructions are simple) after doing this would I recommend you use the xbmchub HUB wizard auto setup located in the fusion package to set up your machine as it puts in all the standard channels and movie streams . One you get comfortable using them you can start playing around finding different addons that suit your viewing style.

It may sound a but complex but I am the most computer illiterate person I know and it's not that hard to figure out .

  5. Hi I had a similar problem with my HD2S box when I was initially setting it up. Tried for hours and could not get it to play then on the off chance I decided to plug in an old d-link modem I had hanging around rather than the modem supplied by true and what do you know it worked perfectly.

Hasn't missed a beat since switching to the d-link modem.

  6. I have ilikehd integrated in to an android tv box and it works seamlessly. My problem is that I also want to install it on a windows 8.1 based htpc and ilikehd does not have a windows app launcher. The ilikehd help desk told me although they have several android launchers they haven't developed a windows launcher so my only option is to view it through the website. It does work perfectly on my lg 65in uhdtv through the websites but I hate having to muck around with a keyboard logging into the site when I could just be sitting in the sofa clicking a remote.

I am not tech savvy and I use XBMC as my tv and movie platform and I was wondering if anyone knew a way that I could setup XBMC to launch ilketv just like you can do on an android based box with xbmc.

  7. They also sell the minix x8-h at pantip 4th floor in a small shop in the alley that you walk to the elevator. The price is the same as Thaimkv shown in the link.

I have an x8-h and one of the best things about it is that they have a great forum and help site on minix.hk. I would also recommend installing XBMC from tv addons formerly xbmchub.com which is an amazing 100% free movie and tv platform. Through xbmc you can even stream thai tv so you don't have to worry about ever switching out of the minix box back to the tv.

  8. Does anyone know how long the xbmc site down is going to be down for?

    jb1

It's only xbmchub that's down xbmc.org is up and ok. If you want to do something like down load fusion from xbmchub it still works. You can also access individual pages by googling something like xbmchub fusion download etc.

  9. Had the minix X7 for a while now & high key recommend it, one tip is to buy a better remote control, I bought the A2 & am pleased with it (except it chews through batteries) though there's quite a few negative reviews.

The guy on the 4th floor at pantip threw in a free minix a2 remote when I bought the minix X8. I also found out that my harmony remote has minix support so I use that now. I also tried the m-tek keyboard remote but after a while it started duplicating keys like aaaaaaaa so I went back to the harmony remote

  10. The M8 box can download XBMC and you can add ilikehd if you like. Digilife 3rd floor pantip plaza sells the box for somewhere around 4k. The x7 minix box is a lower spec so it won't play 4k video. Minix has a very good online forum and good support. I have a minix x8-h which I bought at pantip on the 4th floor ( a little shop on the way to the front elevator) for around 5000 baht. It's a great box.

I have just bought an intel nuc i5 based mini box that runs on windows 8.1 and I'm setting up XBMC this weekend on it. It's overkill for just running XBMC but eventually I'll set it up as a full HTPC . I'm tearing my hair out trying it get my sky F1 tv stream to work but eventually I will get it done as the XBMC forums have allot of support.

XBMC is at truly amazing entertainment system. It can be a little finicky to get it set up and personalize but once you have done it you'll be amazed at what programming you have access to.

The only MAJOR issue with XBMC is your internet connection but that is the limiter on every internet based streaming system.

  11. Sorry I know the OP was asking for local artists but when I was looking at houses and Condos every place seemed to have the same artwork on the walls and I wanted something different. The local artwork that was original that I liked was priced between 50k and 200k and I didn't want to spend that much. The 2 prints on canvass in the photos above were less than 15k each.

  12. I ended up ordering prints on canvass ( 3 panel triptych style ) from a site in the states called greatbigcanvass.com , The prints on canvass are outstanding quality and the site regularly has discount coupons on the home page. They delivered to phuket and it came direct to the door no tax was charged. I ordered 3 times and it was the same every time.post-105221-0-55035000-1409800733_thumb.post-105221-0-16758200-1409800746_thumb.

  13. @jj sure the company is called assassin htpc and their address is http://www.assassinhtpc.com/performance.php

The one I was looking at was the Prestige model and you can see all the options by pressing the customize and buy button. It's an excellent resource as the customization page has drop down menus that explain the advantages of adding or dropping components.

The problem is that these things get old fast as the technology improves both on the htpc side and the Tv side and I would hate to spend $3-4k or even $5k on my ultimate gadget and then have to replace it after a couple of years. Right now I'm just playing around with $100 android boxes running xbmc and over the course of a few months I've seen major changes in both the hardware and software sides.

Please let me know if you end up building one as I may venture down that route myself .

  14. I have 2 things. The first is finding a contractor to convert my plunge pool in phuket into a jacuzzi. Even though i am prepared to pay whatever it takes nobody seems interested. The second is to get my hands on a kick ass HTPC. Although you can get something for $300-700 here in Bangkok it still requires major programming and upgrades and I'm to stupid to do that. I saw this site in the US that builds custom ones where a fully loaded one can cost around $5k . I'm not gonna pay that much but reading through the options available makes me green with envy.

  15. I suggest you download xbmc on your computer and give it a try first (follow one the many instruction videos on the internet to setup). You'll understand exactly what you'll get with the TV box and test if your internet connection is any good for streaming videos.

Excellent advice. You can install xbmc on an android box ( cost 2-4000 bah at pantip) and it will provide the riichest tv viewing experience you can imagine and it's free. The free Live sports add ons can be a bit challenging if your internet connection isn't that great but if you subscribe to ilikehd for 500 baht a month you have everything.

  16. I was told that the strip of land west of the road running from Nikki beach to just after the turn into the Laguna complex is private land. There is a beachfront plot with chanote for sale right at the t junction when you come out from Laguna and turn right to go to Nikki or left to go up to where lotus was. If what I was told is correct then the entire strip is private so if they are knocking down buildings there it's because they violate the high tide mark or the height restrictions.

  17. The is a. Report on another phuket news site within an article saying they will cut the power to the remaining surin beach clubs saying that Lotus restaurant and the palm beach club were torn down yesterday. On the lotus web site there is an "urgent message " banner saying the restaurant that's been closed by order of the army.

Anyone know if this is correct?
  18. I don't think any bank will give a 9 year loan on a car. In any event thousands of Bangkok taxi drivers manage to finance their cars without special treatment so why why should Phuket be any different.

Green plate drivers can automatically covert their current vehicles so long as they are not over 6 years old and black plate drivers can do the same for around 10,000 baht, everyone should be happy.
