I am trying to update the operating system on my android TV box. The instructions are to download the zip file and save it to the root directory of a memory stick. They say if you don't save it in the root directory it won't update the system. So how do I make sure it's in the root directory of the memory stick. Normally I would just save to drive x or whatever USB port the memory stick was plugged into.

It's funny that Americans prattle on about freedom and liberty but the actual reality is that they are all born into servitude. No matter where they go or what they do they have to pay the American government 32% odd of what they earn for their entire life. If they don't pay they go to jail and when they get out they still owe the money. The only way they can break the bonds of this modern day slavery is to essentialy buy their way out. They have to first acquire another passport then they must renounce their citizenship and pay their exit taxes. The cost of a new citizenship from say Nevis and St. kitts is roughly 300k and on top of that is your exit taxes. It's not cheap to buy yourself out of slavery..
Oh and by the way you cannot use ' not wanting to pay taxes" as a reason to renounce your citizenship. It is not allowed. You can't use something like " I disagree with the U.S. foreign policy" as you will be labeled a terrorist and placed on a no fly list so you limited to "personal reasons" or "I got tired of being an American and want to try something new."

One of the reasons why everything is so "cheap "here is because you are subject to a far greater probability of encountering misadventure in your home and every time you step outside your front door than you are in the west.
The cheapest thing in Thailand is someone else's life.
BTW my electricity bill averages 13,000 per month.

Also there is no confusion about what is allowed and what isn't allowed. The vested interests failed in all their efforts to circumvent the new laws implemented by the army so they are trying to create anarchy on the beaches by using the tourists as a tool to try to force the authorities to bend to their will.
It's dusgusting, anyone with half a brain can see through it but it's getting played out anyway.

The solution is to make the beaches a single zone. A commerce free zone. Pepole can bring there own private umbrellas, mats chairs etc and set them up anywhere. Anyone that wants to rent mats, umbrellas, chairs etc can set up a legal business in a shop font on the esplanade founding the beach.
No jet skis, no banana boats or paraglider boats - no commerce on the beach period.
What's so hard about that.

I have installed Kodi on my Galaxy S5 and have been able to get it to work but I have quite a few questions. Finding Live TV Channels seems to be very easy and Finding Live Sport yesterday was super easy. Today I thought I would catch up with The Walking Dead but it was pretty difficult to find a working link. Am I doing something wrong, as it appears to be a lot easier to download torrents and watch them than search and click on dead links?

You can also download another addon called Genesis it has more streams. Also best to stick with SD 480 streams rather than HD 720 streams as less buffering.
Finally sometimes thevideome and best streams don't work initially so play a few minutes from another stream then stop the payback and try them again clicking resume from xx.
I use true as my ISP and I'm sure they throttle back some of the better known streams. When I sign on my VPN via Singapore many of the streams that don't work on True work fine.

I have just hung my 84 inch LG UHD TV on the wall and am waiting for my audio system to be installed. Very exciting. In the past I've had projector TV's andi found them to be a hassle, with the biggest issue being watching tv in the daytime. I did buy a glass bead screen to deal with that but it still wasn't as good as TV. Also the motor in the screen burned out, connecting other devices was a hassle and the lamp woukd always have to warm up and cool down. Technology has probably improved since I owned one but I still feel for all around ease of use a big TV is a better option.

I have just checked Uplayhd addon, and it says internet connection error! or server down. Everything is up to date and the cache cleared, and I'm using True 30mb connection. I'm in Pattaya(darkside)
Ok I see what I'm probably doing differently. I Set this up for my wife to watch and when I did I added a bunch of channels to the Uplayhd "my favorites" . When I checked to see if the system was working today I just opened the addon, clicked on my favorites and then the first station which is channel 3 thai TV. It worked.
Right now the wife is watching American idol in star workd hd on Uplayhd it's working fine FROM the my favorites menu.
However when I try to access just TV or anything else on the main menu I get the server down message.
Anything that I've added in the my favorites I can watch but if I try to watch the same station through the normal tv option on the main menu I get server down.

Weird. I just checked it before I wrote the earlier post and channel 3 worked fine. I am in lower Sukhumvit and I am using true 30mb connection

He can, that's why he mentioned it.
You are onto it .. but as I also mentioned his internet issues need to be sorted out before he even thinks about his home theatre / streaming tv etc .. as if his internet is rubbish then no matter what you do for a home theatre streaming it will be rubbish too.
Jonc do we have a crossed wire here? You said tanoy could always pay someone to fix it for him. I said to you I would happily pay to fine tune my xbmc box and asked if you knew someone that provided the service. Tanoy answered "he can" meaning you Jonc provide these service and you replied to him "you are into it " and said something about fixing his internet first.
So if you indeed can provide a service to set up and fine tuning my xbmc box., Then I am interested. I have no major internet issues that need to be solved so I'm ready to go. Could you pm me details. I Have a couple of boxes I would like to do. One android and one Windows. I can bring my boxes to you as I believe from one of your old posts on TVaddons you only are located only a few stops on the BTS from me.
I just want a kick ass system that provides me the ultimate TV viewing experience. My only additional special request is I want multiple options to access the Formula 1 live feed just in case one drops out.
If I'm mistaken due to a crossed wire in this thread then my apologies, but if you do know someone who can provide the service please let me know.

My live tv channels were being lost all the time in xbmc. Ones that remained were hopelessly buffering. The only channel i could get clear was al jazeera, which i can get just by plugging in my tv without any android bix. I could watch sitcoms on Genesis but always frustrating trying to get a working stream then putting up with the buffering.
Updated to kodi, so now my live tv screen simply goes black, the tv guide section crashes and can't get anything to play on Genesis.
Its too complicated and i don't have hours and hours of spare time to constantly fight with this thing. Its really disappointing.
The sports net canada links hadn't worked since last fall.
well you can always pay someone to fix it for you .. as all those links do work so I assume your internet is rubbish too, so you should be getting that fixed before you even consider any IPTV device ..
jonc I would happily pay someone to professionaly set up XBMC on my box. I have a pretty standard xbmc setup but it could be so much better. Apart from the tweaks and programming options I'm probably missing I'm going to be installing a full home theatre in a few weeks and I apprhensive about getting all the sound passthrough etc set up when it all arrives.
I am running XBMC on windows 8.1 on an Intel NUC i5 mini htpc. If you know anyone that can do a professional set up could you please let me know. I live in the lower sukhumvit area but I can throw the box in a backpack and bring it to someone for programming if needed.

Instant noodles and a freezer that you can store different topping like beef balls, pork balls, shrimp balls, octopus balls, frozen shrimp,frozen thinly sliced pork or beef or fish etc. Keep a little bok choy and green chives in your fridge.
I think there is actually a restaurant somewhere in phuket town that specializes in mama noodles with addons. If you can't find it then just spend a week going to noodle shops trying everything you can to get ideas. Or if you're lazy the just google instant noodle recipes and you'll have enough to keep you going for 3 lifetimes.

At least a pinned topic would give us some forum to discuss issues. I'm sure TV woukd promote it to a sub forum if the traffic was large enough. TV has been pushing tech recently so this woukd be a good addition.

Do others on this forum think it woukd be helpful to have a pinned topic under the audio visual or computers section dedicated to XBMC/KODI.
There are a lot if TV members who use XBMC/Kodi for all or part of their Television viewing in Thailand and there are even sponsors who sell boxes with XBMC/Kodi fully loaded.
XBMC/Kodi is always changing and there are set up issues, new addons and always tweaks that can be made. I know there are dedicated forums available but it would be nice to have a place on thai visa to discuss getting the best XBMC viewing experience in Thailand. ( for example what are the best stream options as ISP's sometimes throttle some themes or where to get thai subtitles etc)
I'm not sure how to get a dedicated topic but maybe if enough users support it the moderators will create one

The girls don't want to be recognized by their family and friends back home in Esan, because the family was told they were working in hotels.
The families will believe they were only giving massages as they still want the money. Their foreign sponsor will cut off the money.

I've been watching Mad Dogs about a group of friends from the UK that go and visit their mate in Mallorca. They get tangled up in drugs, illicit cash, corrupt police and murder.

Him, I live in Bangkok so the DLT center is a huge bureaucracy servicing 1000's every day. It's move from line a to line b and there is little chance to "explain" it's just next number, next number etc.

Thanks, Gerry the 20k per year doesn't bother me, and I guess in 20 years there will be some other program around.
The Thai 5 year DL does bother me but I asked at the DL issuing center and there isn't a conspiracy or any thing like that, it's just when the DL issuing act was written these program didn't exist and the visa type wasn't included in the regulations. It's a case of because it isn't specified as being eligible then they can't issue a 5 year license against it.
