Head north on Naklua road, go past soi 27 (which is on your right) walk for a minute or two, and you will see a pharmacy clinic. He sells 20 tramadol for 100 baht. Many other places will charge much more.

Incidentally, even at 20 for 100, he is making 50-60 baht.

Avoid the clinic on the right hand side - they will charge 300baht for 20, not including a 100b doctor fee.

    Hi

Useful post, I used to live on soi 27, aware of the clinic.

So is the pharmacy you mention on the same side of naklua road, just further up from the clinic or on the opposite side of the road ?

Now living soi bukhao, I will try here first but if that fails will take a ride over to naklua.

Is tramadol more effective than ibufrofen?

    Thanks

  2. Hi

    I have a question please.

I have more or less decided on the chair I want, similar to Swiss' choice, same brand "Ray"

Something I am wondering about, with a solid back is it likely to make you feel hot ?

I currently use a wooden chair, old fashioned hotel type and with a fan aimed at my back, does not make me feel hot.

Someone suggested a cloth chair with mesh back, available here.

I have air con and do in fact use it a lot for my own personal comfort so maybe not a major issue.

    Any thoughts please.

    Thanks

  3. Hi

I guess you are talking about already being on it from within naklua as it approaches the roundabout ?

In which case it does carry on to Beach Road, yes.

I moved from naklua a while back but am fairly confident that has not changed.

It could head up pattaya nua for a short distance before doing a U turn to head back.To Beach Road

    Vietnamese pizza?

    Who knew?

    Not me.

Apparently its a thing and now its a thing you can try in Pattaya.  No, I haven't yet.

    What is it?

It has a rice paper crust!

    https://www.cooking-therapy.com/vietnamese-pizza/

    Where is it?

In the soi next to Big C on Klang and on Food panda. Very cheap! They also do so called Sichuan mala BBQ even cheaper but I'm guessing its the Thai style mala flavor which is not the same at all as Sichuan.

    Pizza Vietnam by Mai Nong

    Thanks

    News to me.

When I get the time, I would be tempted to try the Vietnam pizza and quite possibly the Sichuan mala BBQ.

I had to google it  as it goes.

I also found your post on the Sichuan restaurant interesting for 1 item that you mentioned.

Chinese pork hamburger in home pastry.

Are any of those likely to be spicy do you know?

    I cannot tolerate spicy food.

    Cheers

Real fries or frozen? One of my favourite places in Bangkok, just off the Khaosan road, is the best for that kind of thing. I would be happy if I could get something resembling their offer.

I love the woman who runs it. Working hard all day. She deserves her success.

I imagine that the places in Pattaya take shortcuts. Frozen chips not anywhere close to freshly cut potatoes.

    Frozen.

I agree fresh cut and " home made" better.

Are we talking about looking at an empty plate where the previous day it had various items of food on it or something else?

The view in Cheap Charlies may not be to your liking but the 89 baht breakfast is worth taking a look at

I eat at Cheap Charlies on a semi regular basis, for that breakfast. It is OK for me, have a small appetite and that fills me OK.

Yesterday evening went to Chill Inn soi bukhao after having not been there for a while.

I had the chicken shnitzel  with fries. Everyday special at 89 baht, Good enough for me.

    Glass of wine 120bt, water 30 bt ( I think )

    Food consistent there.

Other times I will spend a fair bit more, usually if I want Italian or French food, which are my favourites.

Had an excellent Indian meal at the Curry Home last night, located on Soi Buakhao, near Lengkee junction.

My favorite place in and around Pattaya right now for Indian food.

Also, see India By Nature, the outstanding Indian restaurant near the Airport bus station in Jomtien, are doing 20% off dine in and 30% off for takeaways for this month.

Thanks .Near me. I will take a look at the menu.

On the subject of Indian restaurants I noticed a couple of positive reviews here on Masala Twist Jomtien a while back.

    I have never been.

Has anyone here been there or had food from there in the last couple of months or so?

I like their menu offering and their prices are fine for me.

    Thinking of taking a visit.

    Thanks

In the area this morning so tried Cheap Charlies for the first time, small English brekky for 89 Baht. 2 rashers rather fatty middle bacon, 2 nice poached eggs, 2 OK small sausages, half a lovely grilled ripe tomato and good baked beans. Also included was a thick slice of toast with good quality butter, OJ and a mug of tea or coffee. Service was pleasant and brisk. VFM.

    Hi

I have been a few times since moving to soi bukhao .About the same experience. The bacon is somewhat fatty, didn't used to be on my first 2 or 3 visits. I have fried eggs rather than poached, they are good as well.

The service must be about the fastest in the area. Friendly also.

    As you say VFM.

     Cheers

I realize I'm kind of asking for it with this post, but I'm sincerely curious.

I've noticed recently that when I post about some more obscure "gourmet" type restaurants that offer for example Sichuan food, Georgian food, Spanish tapas, etc. that the response here to those is either minimal or non-existent. An exception may be Indian food which I'm going to assume is because many U.K. people are interested in that. But when the subject is some kind of "Cheap Charly" basic U.K. roadside cafe level of food, the interest here is much higher.

Am I (or others) wasting my time even bothering to post about such non-mass market food types as above?

No You are not wasting your time.In the case of the 3 food types you mentioned I am not interested in the 1st 1, sorry not in to Chinese food with the possible exception of Brit Chinese food,

Georgian food had never thought about, only just glanced at the menu for mains, yes some of that would appeal .Usual problem I cannot find prices ( that'll be me, not the first time.)

    Spanish tapas, yes mildly interested.

I think it is fairly natural that the most popular posts will be on food that people have familiarity with.

Place got a panning recently so glad to see a positive review.

    Hi

Interesting.  A friend of mine who has lived here some time used to go in, now does not.

My last visit went from previously good to merely OK ( if that )

I will try somewhere else when I next fancy a beef burger.

    Looking for some feedback here.

I know I'm not the only one that's doing a lot of delivery food these days that ALSO likes discounts.

Do you think current discount information such as promotional codes for delivery apps should be posted here or perhaps there should be a separate thread only for that kind of specialized information. What do you think?

I have not yet used a delivery app but am fully aware of their importance and the time will come.

    Post it all here.

I still prefer to go to a restaurant, have several near me on soi bukhao that also do deliveries.

The rise of the number of 'Hungry Now " bikes  is quite something.

    Grab busy as well.

I've lived in Patts for 15 years and never seen 80 baht massages...the cheapest I've seen is 100-125 but those are the "jack shacks" who just want to entice people in the door and "up sell" them additional services.

Yes, similar length of time here  and also not seen 80bht massages until recently.

    Both you and scuba correct.

Enjoy your photos, even though they are a sign of very hard times.

    Thanks

  13. Hi

Is this Big C branch still  open ?

If so, anyone know if they still do free delivery on Purchase above 1 K.?

I have moved and it is fairly near me .2 bahtbus  away.

I realise things can change quickly, their website shows as still being open for shopping.

    Any recent experience ?

    Thank You

  14. Brief reviews of places on soi bukhao I have been to.

Chill Inn, next to Chuba Hut, several meals eaten there. Food always consistent.

They are trying hard with " specials."

Fish and Chips now one everyday reduced price, 89 baht.Tatses Ok to me.

Schnitzel with side 89 baht everyday. As above tastes Ok to me.

Full size pizzas on special Saturdays only.120 to 169 baht.

Only recently back from there, had pepperoni pizza @ 169 baht.Thin crust generous with topping.

    Wine 120 a glass, water 25 baht. Beers 65/70 I think

Harry bakery, near Pattaya Tai end of bukhao.

Very limited choice, no full meals.

I have been for "Lite bite" lunches.

Filled baguettes, fresh everyday 55 baht. Pastrys 20/25 baht each. These are delicious and seem very cheap.

    Nice service and consistent.

    Cheap Charlies

Well I just had to try it.

Roast chicken dinner at a mere 99 baht.

Not surprised but you do of course sometimes get what you pay for.

    Chicken was dry.

Veg sides good and I am not much of a veg eater.Roast potatoes OK.

Drinks prices modest..Service was above average.

Next time I want a roast I will pay more, Cafe Pittini for example, that was good on last visit.

  15. Hi Thaiflyer

Thank you so much for the clear answers and photos.

I agree with you on the poor value of the paid for seating.

Table and chairs fine by me.

My decision made, I will go, maybe next week end.

I will actually arrange to see if a lady will meet me there.

Overall cost high but I generally live quite modestly so not an issue to pay more for something I consider "special".

    Cheers

I ventured  out 5pm yesterday.............went to 3 Mermaids Cafe on Pratamak Hill...........about 100 people there , 90 % were thai...........looking round masks worn but under the chin.....i kept mine fully on

Next stop was Jomtien bar (no names) had maybe 20 customers at 7pm....no masks worn

Last stop Beer Hub Soi Boukhao 8-10pm.............quiet ,maybe 10 customers.....all had masks

I know i should be holed up in the house...........and will be for the next week...........just needed to get out for a few hours.

Nice view from 3 Mermaids by the way.......

    Hi Thaiflyer

Interesting thanks, up until about a month ago I had not even heard of 3 Mermaids. I only became aware due to a Thai lady sending me links to photos as she had just visited. Added to your own I think the place looks lovely.

A question please, I have not yet been but fancy a visit.

Going by photos the place seems more than big enough to handle 100 customers.

If I went would I still be able to find a decent spot to sit with a view?

Am I right in thinking I would be able to have a beer or wine there? I am prepared to try a meal there also.

    Thank You
