Same, I usually pay around £25 per trip. Just checked and it's around £30 including Covid insurance.

BANGKOK, 15 September 2020: A consortium of 16 insurance companies in Thailand are now offering foreigners, who are eligible to travel to Thailand, the mandatory insurance cover valued at USD100,000.

The Insurance company as to be on the list of companies accepted by the Thai government at the moment.

not sure if that was directed at me, but you seem to have totally misconstrued my intent, but perhaps are one of those that just <deleted> on everything as your life is too sad.

However, if you actually read what i said, it was not all about entitlement--it is about finding recommended doctors so others might benefit from those doctors' talents.  If you choose to throw your medical concerns, and many expats here in cm have some serious ailments beyond an ingrown toenail, it is not something, medically, one wants to throw to chance to just any doctor, when it is clear that some doctors, expensive or not, can make matters worse--the internet and here in Thailand, is full of members dissatisfied with a hospital or doctor.

but good luck to you at your 50 baht place--im sure they'll do right by you for your upcoming heart attack--and think, all for only 50 baht, none of those entitled places where doctors might actually know what they are doing before they cut you open.

You might be quite surprised how good one of the Hospitals mentioned is , San Sai is a good government Hospital in my opinion i have no complaints from any treatments that i have had at this Hospital.

Um, this type of 'game' (trick question?) isn't supposed to be played on the regular forums and is generally restricted to the "In Your Face" section. The board MODs will generally interpret it as trolling, or self-advertising.

...Maybe you meant to type "acknowledged the poster's answers"?

Does it really matter, we know now.

It depends on the local DLT but most of the time the ID you present when you get your license, is the ongoing ID you present to renew a license.

Usually, if your license has your passport number on it, that is the ID they want to see, if your license has yellow book/Thai ID number on it then that is the ID required.

Yellow book contains your address so no further documents are required, Passport doesn't have an address so a further Res Cert is required.

The yellow but negates getting a residency certificate, you will still have to present your Passport if you are a foreigner, your id number i.e. Passport number will go on the driving license,

Thanks for the laugh, I often do the same, post before having a coffee.

You can use yellow book for license, if its the original document you used to get your license. Remember, yellow book has your name in Thai, not  english, so cant usually be used for ID or address where your name is in English (from passport). If you get your original license using yellow book then your Thai ID number is on your license (not PP number) yellow book is the primary and accepted ID

I have a bank account opened with yellow book, the account name is in Thai as per the yellow book, yellow book is the only document I can use to operate that account. The same applies for accounts I have opened with Passport, the account name is in English and passport is the only document I can use to operate that account.

If you started life in Thailand with a yellow book, you could use it as your only document. Unfortunately we all start life in Thailand with a PP, then get a yellow book. And its in a different language to our original license, bank accounts etc.

A yellow book can be used for a License renewal , They accept it instead of the residency certificate no matter when you got it.

Hi, over the years, I've made friends with a young Thai optician, Khun Chaiyo, whose shop, Chaiyo Optics, is in the food-court area of the sub-floor of the eastern end of Airport Plaza ... i.e., beneath Robinsons.

He's been giving me prices 25% or more off what shops like Tokyo Optics quoted me, and he's done several repairs for free, and lens replacement at low cost.

He got all the latest automated gear, and makes the lenses himself, free eye exams, etc.

If you visit him, let me know, maybe I can buy you a coffee if you have time. My guess is that wheelchair access could only happen by parking in the lowest parking level o the southern end of thee building.

I'll PM you his contact info so this response, hopefully, does not abuse forum rules.

    cheers, ~o:37;

Thanks for the information ,i will also try him when i next go to Airport Plaza

call for some kind of union / farang power with law firm has been laughed away sadly by the hard core BOOMERS on this site

my child quickly translated the paper ... not for non-o

only for some SPECIAL kind of dirty farangs, not all of them

who call other people ALIENS instead of foreigners, says enough

Alien is a standard Immigration word world wide

adjective. residing under a government or in a country other than that of one's birth without having or obtaining the status of citizenship there. belonging or relating to aliens:

Just an update for those who apply for a DL.  5 years ago I used my work permit to apply without an issue however this time I am told they are insisting on a proof of residence certificate from immigration. I attended CM Imm' today - For proof of residence you need (2x copies) Passport picture page, Passport visa page, Passport TM6, Passport TM30 - all countersigned. You also need a copy of your condo contract or yellow book etc countersigned. You need two photographs (they dont take them there (1"). You go direct to the second floor and you will see an intern sat outside at a large table. Tell her what you want and she will check the paperwork and issue you a chit. It takes 20 working days to get, so apply early! The chit tells you the date to return to collect it (4pm at counter 4). Took me about 5 minutes and no fee was applied at all. The downside is the ridiculously long waiting period for collection.

If you have a yellow book you do not need a residence certificate.

My Thai wife did not need it and it was handed back to her. The sign at the top of the stairs still had it listed as a requirement for a five year to five year renewal. This was a couple of months ago.

I also did not need a medical certificate for 5 year renewal 2 months ago

What happens if you go to renew it say a couple of weeks after it expires? Processed as a new one or can still be renewed with some kind of fine?

Mine is due to renewal at the end of next week and I see last reports mentioned there is no next day service in immigration for the Residency Certificate anymore.

renewed with the extra days over the five years, I renewed mine 2 days after expiry and received 5 years 363 days on the new license.

One solution, Send money from your bank to PP then link your Paypal to Transferwise and send the cash from Paypal to TW... I sent money from PP it arrives in about 30 minutes..sometimes sooner

My bank is UK and doesn't have any problems sending to TW

Max Levchin Paypal co-founder is a Major shareholder in TransferWise as is Richard Branson

  15. NancyL All the personal information was i presume given out in messages on here of your own free will.

If anyone reads your posts then remembers information that you have given does not in my opinion in any way get near to on line stalking.

In response to one poster you replied " For your sake i hope i remain safe" that seems to be the only threat that i have read on this thread .

I would suggest that you do need to take a look at yourself here and not get paranoid about peoples comments to information that you have given out freely about yourself and your Husband.
