I am looking for Acid Free or Archival mat board I can use to mount photos and water colours. This is fairly common in the West but I am not having any luck here in Thailand. Has anyone purchased or seen this here in Thailand. I am looking for full sheets of 40 X 60 inch.

I have been been getting my health insurance from a Thai company AXA for years now with a total coverage considerably higher than the 100,000 USD required to enter Thailand . I am currently on a Non-B visa. I plan to travel home and return back to Thailand in 2 months. My concern is proving that I have a health insurance policy that covers Covid. My policy does not state that it specifically covers Covid. When I talked to the company on the phone say that it does. They refuse to provide me with a letter to state that my current policy will cover me for Covid.
Has anyone been up against this issue when returning to Thailand and cannot prove they have the required minimum of $100,000 health insurance that will cover Covid? If so how did you deal with it. My concern is having the airline refuse me to board as this is one of the requirements. As well having an issue at Thai immigration when I arrive. How can I prove that my policy covers me for Covid if the insurance company refuses to give me a letter that states that.

Years ago I saw a villa being built in Phuket and when they were doing the ceiling they used sheets of paneling that was made from real teak veneer in 120 cm X 240 cm sheets. It is exactly what we need for the ceiling on a conversion we are doing. I am aware that all the big home centers have teak veneer plywood in various thicknesses but it is not the same as paneling because it has no divider lines. The advantage of the paneling is it looks just like tongue and grove and is very light and yes much cheaper than using real teak tongue and grove for a ceiling. We have a weight limitation so I cannot use real tongue and grove.
Has anyone seen this style of real teak veneer paneling anywhere recently?

2. Have a xenophobic Health Minister
3. Charge exorberent fees to test for the virus
Yesterday after having all of the symptoms of Covid 19, I went to Bumrungrad Emergency and they did not want to do a Covid 19 test. I was shocked. I explained that I arrived from the North of Thailand 3 days previous with no symptoms and by the following day had all the symptoms and then found out that 5 members of my staff had the same symptoms, my child, his mother and 7 students of his 20 student class also had the same symptoms. Only after insisting that they do the test did they agree to it. I asked the doctor if he was told by the government to not test and he did the Thai thing where they laugh and smile. He then said the cost of the test was expensive. Amazing! I was told they would call me 10 hours later with the results but when there was no call I called them to be informed that the test was negative. Big relief for everyone.
The test is painful as they stick a swab into your nasal cavity and it hurts. I have gold insurance with a Thai company and they refused to pay but did pay for the influenza A and B test. Here is what was on the bill for the test: Non Cover Novel Coronavirus = 4,400.00 Baht , Face Shield = 207.00 Baht , Mask N95 = 275.40 Baht , PPE Set 3 = 1,134.00 Baht

I am somewhat confused by the so called International commercial flight ban as I landed at BKK airport on Tuesday at 11 am and there was a KLM, Air France and Qatar jet on the move and clearly working unlike the graveyard of Thai airplanes parked permanently on the runway. 2 weeks ago I was in Chiang Rai airport and there was a flight going to China and full of Chinese tourists. Lines and lines of them dressed up like spacemen in white suits with masks. and they were definitely tourist, not returning expats. So if no International flights are arriving what is really going on? How did the plane in Chiang Rai with the tourists arrive? Again we are not getting the full story. BKK airport was like a ghost town!

I would like to know if anyone has changed a non-immigrant B (working in Thailand) visa (extension of stay) to a non-immigrant OX visa when they are finished working. Please only respond if you have actually done this and have experience with this. I am not interested in the reasons why I should or should not want an OX visa.

Under no circumstances ship anything by a courier, especially DHL - they are the worst. I have horror stories I can share for days about this company in Thailand. Ship everything by post only!

My friend has asked me an important question that I cannot answer. He received a multiple entry Non-Immigrant B visa in the UK. He then entered LOS. He then received his work permit from the company that hired him. Now the company says he needs to change his visa for a different kind of work visa? I find this confusing because he has the Non-Immigrant B visa. Is this not all he needs?
Also the visa will expire 1 month before the work permit because he received it before the work permit. Is this an issue because normally my understanding is the work permit is renewed prior to the visa.

We have the A5 sized WP5, have taken it to Immigration and they say they cannot process the extention for the visa unless they have the renewed WP with the applicaiton. The WP5 is not enough. Here we must have the work permit renewed before we can apply for the visa extension. Clearly things are different in other locations like Chiang Mai and BKK.
So I go back to my original question - does anyone have a suggestion relating to my situation as I do not wish to get an overstay in my passport and also would prefer to not have to travel outside Thailand and apply for new Non-Immigrant B.

The HR director went to renew the WP at the local labour office. We call it the Ministry of Labour here. It is the same place she has renewed it for 5 years in a row. We are in a border province. She later called the Bankok Labour office and they confirmed that border provinces now have new rules.

My HR Director returned today from the Ministry to renew my work permit (5th renewal) and informed me that they now require 10 working days to approve a renewal. Apparently it is a new rule for provinces next to borders. In all past years the work permit is renewed on the same day.
My Non-Immigrant B visa expires in 4 days. I have no idea what to do as I cannot apply for the visa extension without the renewed work permit.
Does anyone have any ideas for what I can do other than leaving the country and applying for a brand new Non-Immigrant B visa. I do not want an overstay.

Thank you for the rapid response. He will leave in a few days to go back to the UK so there is not going to be enough time to apply for the extension. So my question is when he returns to Thailand in 2 weeks will he receive an additional 90 day stamp upon entry as it is a multiple entry visa.

An employee of ours recently recieved a multiple entry non immigrang B visa from the Thai embassy in London. When they arrived in Bangkok last week they were given a 90 day stamp. Is this normal?
When they leave Bankok next week to return to the UK and then back to Thailand the following week will they just receive another 90 day stamp?
When it is close to the expiration date does it make more sense to apply for the visa extention in Thailand or get another 1 year multiple entry visa in London again as this employee is required to travel a lot for the company?

This is just a wonderful thread! So many issues coming up from so many sides, everyone weighing in with their own wisdom - so here goes mine - I agree with the OP in principal and in some ways sympathize with him having recently been burned big time in the Philippines. Having met the perfect girl in a remote village on a remote island both myself and my friend agreed that this girl was the 'one'. Unable to stick around as we had to move on with our trip she and I continued our relationship online and by phone. I sent some funds for her university. A year later I finally was able to return to see her. She expressed a of great deal of excitement in emails and phone calls prior to my arrival but someone flailed to mention the fact that she was 5 months pregnant in any of our correspondence!!!
This was not a bar girl, I met the family, went to the home and was sure she was the 'one'. The staff at the resort near her town informed me that she never even went to university so she even faked the photos she sent me.
So if the OP feels a need to check up on his girl prior to marriage or a long term commitment in whatever clandestine way he sees fit, I feel that he may have some justification in doing so. However as posted already just because you are bringing a girl from the Philippines to Thailand does not in any way guarantee that as soon as the jet returns to Manila she is not in the arms of her cousin Pedro. The Filipinos just have different scams and they are very good at them…

Just returned from snorkeling on the West coast of Phuket, off a small island near Bang Tao beach. About 80% of the coral is bleached. It is shocking. I have been snorkeling this spot all winter and this is the first time I have seen bleaching. As this is the main snorkeling area for this area of Phuket it could be a disaster if the coral does not survive.

This change of extension must be done at the same time that you end your work.
My passport has a multiple entry stamp in it now. When I retire and change the extension can I keep the multiple entry stamp or do I have to get a new one?

I have searched through all previous posts looking for this but unable to locate a similar situation. Most situations deal with marriage, I am single.
I am currently working in Thailand on a Non-Immigrant B visa, recently renewed for one year. I have a valid work permit. I will be turning 50 soon and plan to quit work and retire and would like to change my visa to a Non-Immigrant O. I have had the 800K in the bank for over 4 months.
Do I have to leave the country to do this? Or can it be done in the local immigration office?

Changing from a Retirement Non-O Visa to a Non-B Work Visa

Yesterday in the Chiang Rai Immigration office we were told that it is not possible to change a current Non-O Retirement Visa to a Non-B Work Visa. We were told that the person would have to leave the country and apply at a Thai embassy or consular office. Has anyone ever done this in Thailand at an immigration office? I know of people who have done the reverse getting a Non-O when they retire from their existing Non-B. If it can be done in country someone please send direct me to the documentation that states this so it can be shown the officials here in Chiang Rai.
