  1. Over many years I have read complaints about all of the above mentioned "couriers"...phones not answered, emails not replied too...stuff not arriving inbound to Thailand..+ outbound etc etc

Just a thought/question....are these couriers not "licenced/franchised" to operate alongside worldwide service standards, imposed by the by their respective "Head Offices"...??

I mean for one...DHL in New Zealand are constantly on the TV marketing and selling their services as a worldwide country having the same service standards throughout the world...in fact one of their TV advertisements...gives an example of a package leaving NZ for Africa and gives brief glimpses of it travelling throughout their distribution system to the end receiver.

What I am saying is if the Thailand "standard" of these outfits is so bad...there must be a definite recourse for us folk in Thailand through to the "franchise head office" in whatever overseas country it is situated in...to complain...!!!!

    Just a thought

  2. My advice...

1.Sit out the remaining days of this month....(i am assuming you will receive a portion of a months (October) salary seeing as you have only been at the school 3 days)

    2. Keep your mouth shut...do not tell the school you are leaving

    3. Check that the portion of salary has gone into your bank...when it has...empty your bank a/c out...barring 500b

    4. WALK AWAY

Don't get involved with discussions with Thai school directors, Thai teachers whatever....don't start quoting or referring to your "contract"...it is a worthless document anyway....Thai schools will always circumvent anything written in it

Move on...plenty of other teaching jobs available

  3. From the original news article "...He (Gen Prayuth) said he did not think the police would dare do such a thing in a high-profile case like this...". (refers to using scapegoats in the KT murders)

Further meaning?....(a) in low profile cases we (the RTP) do fit people up for crimes committed...???....and/or......the KT murders started off low profile..so we got ourselves two Burmese lads as scapegoats...but now that it has turned high profile.....we are stuck with the two scapegoats and don't know quite how to extract ourselves out of the shit

  4. ..." delays caused by track switching".....??

I use Saphan Taksin station twice a day.......the track switching "delay" is.........a horrendous unbelievable tortuous delay (joke)....of a simple small 2 or 3 minutes....<deleted>......... sounds like some snouts are itching to get into the trough by pushing for some new construction that is not needed

So a 2 or 3 minute track "switching delay" is the big issue here...really?...........

.....How about spending the money on fixing the shambles that exists at the Victory Monument BTS station.....unbelievable congestion.......ticket machines constantly not working.......1 window open at peak times for change/tickets....exiting passengers "crossing" into the flow of "incoming" passengers (due to the design and current layout)...I could go on.....but won't

    rant over

  5. .....the suspects had bruising and bleeding on them after we had extracted their confession....

(Fixed and perfect)....The suspects were treated humanely given a meal and a comfortable bed for the night in the cell following their arrest....

....these two boys are from Myanmar...following their arrest we beat the shit out of them......we beat the shit of anybody and everybody from Myanmar...we don't want them in Thailand

(Fixed and perfect)....we treat all people from Myanmar with respect....Myanmar is part of the ASEAN community.......they are our friends and neighbours

....we are not going to look into the KT headmans son's story or whereabouts on the night of the murder as his father graciously handed us 1m baht.... which has now been dispersed to all the officers who performed an excellent job in tracking down these Myanmar murderers.......

(Fixed and perfect).......we refused the offer of the KT headmans 1m baht as this would have appeared as corruption or a bribe and spoilt the RTP's reputation.....

  6. I know I've gotten lazier around the house since I've been here. I can't even finish a beer before she's got another one for me. She's actually gotten mad(sorta) when I washed my own dishes while she was out.

Had same problem with my first Thai girlfriend. She would get mad if she saw me doing any housework. It was one of the biggest reasons why I left.

Almost all the Thai wifes married to farangs I know work hard from morning to night. Mine seems to never stop. I have to keep an eye on her to see if she needs help with something as. she will never ask.

...and the same situation with my first Thai GF as well.....me coming from a Western household of 5 kids and Mum and Dad we always chipped in with any of the work that needed doing...mowing lawns, stacking firewood, housework, cooking, cleaning etc etc (learnt my life skills from my dear mum)

Whislt single and living alone when I first arrived here...I carried on with those life skills.

Time moved on...met and began living with a thai lass...... I was simply NOT ALLOWED to do anything around the house...she would nut right off at me if I even lifted the broom to sweep the floor.

I actually felt useless and guilty over this...and tried to explain to her that in Western "culture" (if that's what I can call it)......men played an active part in household duties......My explanation did not make an ounce of difference.....I was forbidden to do anything around the house relating to housework etc.

Having now been here a few years....I would totally agree with the OP.......Thai women are the backbone of this country abolutely 100%.....Thai blokes..the hardworking ones....like hens teeth....are more content to sit around on their <deleted> and do absolutely nothing.....often within 1 metre of their wives...while wifey is flat out doing stuff

  7. Why oh why do you even require a "re-entry permit"....it is simply a money making crock of BS

If you have a retirement visa (extension of stay) valid until such and such a date..and you leave Thailand for a short or extended holiday.and return BEFORE the expiry date of said visa...that should be the end of the matter.

The mere fact that you have for all to see an "out" stamp from airport immi...an "in" and an "out" stamp from where the country you visited....and (once these are shown to Thai Immi at the airport on the way back "in")..you should then simply receive the "in" stamp....and be on your way...... all of the information is there to read in your PP...expiry date of current visa...in and out stamps...so why another piece of paper and payment?

    A permit to re-enter....total BS

So..say a tourist visits Thailand in March for the month.....has a delightful holiday...intends returning later in the same year....does said tourist then need a permit to re-enter Thailand.....?.....(emphasis on re-enter)...said tourist is in fact "re-entering" Thailand.

Okay so I am splitting hairs....different conditions relate to the visa types...but this "re-entry" thing is hogwash

  8. The drop in tourist arrivals ??

Okay, there might be a small drop due to less tourists turning up in Thailand. But surely, the change in the visa rules (as in restrictions on going to Laos/Cambodia/Burma and coming back into Thailand straight-away with a new stamp) did cause a drop in 'tourist' arrivals ?

...The new Visa rules have definitely contributed to a drop in "tourists"...as tonbridgebrit rightly points out...of course TAT count these visa runs as "tourists" ( I mean you have to hang onto your job at TAT somehow don't you ?)

I personally do not believe the 10.28% reduction as quoted...it is more likely 20 - 25%+

Anyway...I am aware of several "Visa run" companies in Bangkok that have actually closed shop or seriously curtailed their van/bus visa runs...one in particular that used to run 3 or 4 vans from Onnut each day...has closed shop and now redirects inquiries to another similar company who now only do the visa run on a Wednesday and a Friday..(previously it was everyday except Sunday)...and only have enough "v/runners" to run 2 vans...

This is two very very small companies feeling the pinch.

The Thai authorities should take note before the pinch turns into a slap....if that hasn't happened already
