I love Koh Chang but I must admit I have not been caught up in ferry queues once. Thinking of going there soon. Anybody know what covid paperwork is required - I have one unvaccinated person in my party. Were there any checks?
Yes, they checked my vaccination certificate before I boarded the ferry. I went last month and had a great time.

I’m on Koh Chang now, weather is beautiful and prices still low. I was asked to show my vaccination certificate before boarding the ferry, I haven’t been tested this year. Hua Hin is boring, I only go for the jazz festival.

I'm on my fourth visit to Koh Chiang this year. This time three army guys asked to see my vaccine certificate before boarding the ferry. I've had two Astra Zeneca jabs.

I think they’ll be back eventually. There’s too much chrome pole talent out there to waste. ????

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency last month and used the outdoor pool. I had to reserve an hour slot in advance, same with the exercise room. I also stayed at the Sheraton Grande where the pool was closed but you could hang out in the garden.

I don’t live in a dark red zone and I’ve had one AZ vaccination. My resort told me I didn’t need a covid test. I showed proof of vaccination when I checked-in.

The State Department and its embassies, no matter where they are--Bangkok, Kabul, Yangon--tend to be centers of mediocrity. They mess things up. The Pfizer donation illustrates this. Going back to the OP, US citizens are in tenth place, behind British, French, and Filipinos, for receiving a Covid vaccine in Thailand. This, despite the fact that the US donation of Pfizer was the largest gift to Thailand to date. Why is that the case? Because the US made no provision for prioritizing its own citizens, as China, France, and now Belgium have done. In fact, as revealed in Robblok's earlier post, the US donation has been allocated to entities such as the Singapore Chamber of Commerce, which then promptly did prioritize its citizens. Meanwhile, one scandal after another unfolds with favoritism, corruption, cronyism, and waste being exposed with the distribution of the US Pfizer vaccines. This was a program, I assume, to better the US's image, strengthen their influence, and give them leverage. I don't believe it has done so. I think the reverse has happened. And the indicator of it all is the fact that US citizens, again, as the OP shows, are behind so many other countries in getting their share of the Covid vaccine. And, btw, I should not need to show gratitude for a Covid vaccine that my tax dollars have already paid for, but which I haven't received, while citizens from other countries have.
As an American, I think we need to take some initiative instead of expecting our embassy take care of us.

I’ve made three visits to Koh Chang this year, stayed in 5-star resorts for 3-star prices with few tourists. I’ll be back as soon as they lift the travel restrictions.

There’s no gatekeeper at the ferry. I visit Koh Chang frequently, in the places that didn’t know me I was asked to sign an affidavit declaring where I was arriving from, so if I lied and caused an outbreak I expect I could be held for crimInal liability. It’s inaccurate to claim there are no covid controls.

I even received notices from agoda about what the restrictions were.

Well I can only say what happened to myself and my partner not questioned at all and the resort we stayed at is a large and well known but only 3 star, perhaps we cheap Charlie's don't come from Hi so Bangkok or Chonburi ????????
They must be desperate for business. Occupancy quadrupled this afternoon at the KC Grande, most likely they'll be clearing out on Sunday morning.

I've stayed at five different 4-star resorts this month and they all asked where I traveled from.

Would you just as soon get Omicron (and get it over with)?

I haven’t gotten a booster, not yet 90 days from my 2nd jab, but I came down with the omicron yesterday and it’s been very mild, just fever and a headache. Today, I feel better already, a cold is much worse. I’ll spend the remainder of the week isolated in my room catching up on Netflix.
