If have a single or multiple entry non-o visa you can apply for a extension of stay based upon marriage if you have 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months on the day you apply.

With a multiple entry visa you could apply for the extension during the last 30 days of any of the 90 days from the visa.

Thankyou ubonjoe, I have been in Thailand since 2005, married a Thai woman in 2010. I didn't bother with the marriage visa, just kept renewing my OA visa every year. I think this year I might apply for the marriage visa, and I have the 400,000 in the bank. Do I have to leave the country to change the visa? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

did mine online...got an email from CM immigration on Sunday telling me it was due the next day.  So I did it on Monday and

received the success immediately and then on Tuesday the new printed date for 90 days in the future.  Can't beat it as it is

a lot easier and quicker than before.  Haven't had any problems since they went to this new system.  Just remember, to use

the on line you must first register and get a immigration generated password.  Is simple too.

Went through the drive through, already had the form completed and tucked into the proper passport page. No cars ahead of me, out in about 3 minutes, very convenient.

    why?  too much competition?

Not long before the blue (scheduled) buses shut down, the main ridership seemed to consist, mainly, of students. Excellent for them i would have thought

I have a Account and ATM card, with Bangkok Bank, at  KSK

where my Australian old age pension  are transferred into, with KSK closing, will this service continue as normal.

    Mny thks in advance

The fellow at the currency exchange desk told me yesterday that Central Festival branch would be a good option for me, and that I won't have to transfer money or close accounts, just bank as normal using my existing bank books etc. Hope it's true, although I'm not enthralled with Central Festival.

  5. There is a guy with a shop at Kad Suan Kaew just across from the nearest entrance to Tops. I've used him many times, my wife has had shoes and purses repaired, he also makes keys and managed to get me into my car once, after I locked myself out. Very handy guy.

maybe a massage shop will revive the place....

Couldn't hurt. I live near there and used immigration, Dukes, RimPing and PEA. My wife loved Mr DIY. For a re-entry permit last Friday I waited 4 hours at the airport location instead of 15 minutes at Prom. I'm going to miss the place.

  7. I stopped at the highway police station not far from Promenada. According to the officer, 90 km is the speed limit on Every highway in Thailand. That is obviously incorrect, but I went to the government bank and paid the 500 baht because it may really be 90kmh on the section where I was photographed, near Central Festival.

I am totally aware of it. My bet. I made the mistake by driving too fast on an empty road for a short moment and was caught. I'm aware that I don't respect all the rules, but then at least when I'm caught, I'm ok with paying the fine and not asking others wether I should pay or not.

II did not suggest that anyone not pay a fine, I get very few tickets, and pay them all. My wife said that the ticket was not right and called the authorities, who agreed with her. I was simply telling people that was the case. If people want to pay a ticket that was issued in error, they should do so, or donate the money to an orphanage.

It’s official – the maximum speed limit on 4-lane highways in Thailand has been increased to 120 kilometres per hour, with the new regulation published in the Royal Gazette yesterday. Previously 90 kilometres per hour, Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob says the increase in the maximum speed limit is aimed at improving the flow of traffic in line with conditions, while keeping road users safe.

The new limit applies only to highways with 4 lanes or more (at least 2 lanes travelling in each direction, divided by barriers). In the case of roads with traffic signs that indicate minimum and maximum speeds, drivers must adhere to those limits when traffic conditions and other circumstances allow. The increased maximum limit will not apply to any roads that have intersections or U-turns. Nation Thailand has summarised the speed limit regulations based on vehicle type and taking the new speed limit into account:

    • Vehicles with fewer than 7 seats: maximum 120 kilometres per hour
    • Vehicles in the rightmost lane: minimum 100 kilometres per hour
    • Passenger vehicles of over 7 seats but fewer than 15 seats: maximum 100 kilometres per hour
    • Vehicles with more than 15 seats or weighing over 2,200 kilograms: maximum 90 kilometres per hour
    • Tricycles and tow trucks: maximum 65 kilometres per hour
    • Motorcycles: maximum 80 kilometres per hour
    • Motorcycles with engines of 400cc or more: maximum 100 kilometres per hour
    • School buses: maximum 80 kilometres per hour

Thank you for that Digger, I must say that I would not drive faster than 100 kmph between Huay Kaew road and Don Chan intersection. There are to many cars entering and exiting, but South of Don Chan it's like a race track for some.

Been back in UK for 2 years now, roundabouts work so well.  No U-turns, can actually turn right without going 2kms in the wrong direction to make a U-turn etc.  Thailand needs to bite the bullet, build them and force people to use them until they actually understand how they work.

I know it's a pipe dream but it would cut accidents by 50% or more.

Last time I was in Canada I visited the city I lived in for 35 years, there were many roundabouts, two were consecutive. I was driving, my brother in law asked me where I was going, damned if I know I said. I'm sure they work, I'm equally sure I want nothing to do with them lol.

lol.    Great news!!! Just texted my friend, and it will save him a stressful trip outside of Thailand for an employment visa.  It will make his weekend.

I'm not on a covid extension, but if I meet a falang I will tell them, "I've been on COVID extensions for 33-years and it's great!!!"

The last two years here have seemed longer than the previous fifteen. I wish I were joking.

You can get the yellow booklet at the Health department office on Suthep Road. Takes about a week and you have to provide them with your certificates.

The yellow vaccine booklet has been an internationally recognized proof of vaccination for many many years and is good to have.

Just a few days ago the Philippines refused entrance to some people because they didn't have the yellow booklet.

Canada also requires more than a yellow book. It isn't clear whether a QR code would work because they specify that the QR code is not enough on it's own. Looks like a trip to the consulate is in order.

  13. Sold 2 homes, and the only thing making a 'profit' was the appreciation of the land they sat on.  Brick & mortar part, simply breaking even on that part of the ROI, and the land was the money maker.

Not very interested in buying someone else's dream home. Find land in a good location, with a good view and a reasonable price. My Thai wife was interested in buying some land, we looked at many locations in our area and purchased a reasonably priced property, with a stunning view outside Chiang Mai for 400,000 baht about ten year ago. she has had offers of 2,000,000 baht for it. Unfortunately, you have to be willing to sell at the right price. She wants to keep it. For what, we will never build on it, sell and buy a revenue property I say.
