Duo steals million-baht diamond bracelet from Bangkok mall
mancub replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
You'd think that some kind of conversation would have taken place that would have given the staff a clue to the perps not being Thai. not just that they "resembled foreigners ".- 75 replies

Search via Skyscanner and you'll often find that the best deals are from Trip.com or Agoda. Also avoids the money-grabbing 57 baht pp per sector "processing fee" charged by Airasia if you book direct.

Thailand once was the place, now dirty beaches, bad air, cheapo tourists

Wonder if your parents have any regrets ?π -
Have you ever tried to apply for probate. (on behalf of a Thai widow) in the UK regarding a foreigner's estate ? He passed away without making a will and after 3 months she was able to access the funds in his Thai bank accounts. His only remaining asset in UK being a bank account into which his pensions etc were paid. They were legally married and she is 100% entitled but it seems an awfully involved procedure to ascertain executor/administrative authority !

Foreigner's Shocking Behavior On Soi 4 Sparks Outrage in Bangkok [videos]
mancub replied to george's topic in Bangkok News
Had the misfortune once of witnessing a chap of similar physique marching completely naked down soi 4 in the midday sun. I was trying to enjoy lunch at the "Bus-stop". at the time. He went down the soi on the Nana Plaza side, received some abuse from the bars (and some encouragement from the lady geezers) then minutes later strode purposefully back up to Suk junction. Bizarre ! -

And he was on his way to the Skytrain.....imagine ! -
Completely baffling ! Can only ascertain that your logic/reasoning is on a "different" level. Whilst it's been fun sparring with you, it's no longer entertaining so I'll wish you a happy Songkran and keep safe.π

Thailand sets target to recycle all plastic waste by 2027
mancub replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes. we live in an estate that was classified outside of the municipal garbage collection area. The builder of the estate sent his staff on a weekly collection with a pick-up truck. They were too lazy or considered it not worth their effort to take to a recycle centre so piled it all up on waste ground and burned it. Since finding this out, we now take it to father-in-laws and the small monies collected he passes to the kids. -

Recycling in my town means you separate plastics and cardboards then someone kindly takes them away and burns them ! -

Thai woman sparks backlash for vaping on Chiang Rai flight (video)
mancub replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Quite probably because the offender was (presumably) a fellow Thai. Consideration and not being confrontational / disrespectful ... blah blah ! Not the same issues when reporting a foreigner. -
Nothing has happened in 20 years ? Check the road accident/death statistics and have a re-think! I expect nothing less than to encounter atrocious driving on a daily basis. Anyway, why are you telling me this ?
-
Lots of unfounded assumptions there ! But you forgot the bit about being afraid to drive here as they're all seemingly out to kill me.....Oh wait .....π

OH Dear. you appear to have mistaken me for someone who gives a monkey's "polite phrasing " of your opinion !π

Jeez. just give them married legal rights but call them Parental Guardians. -
No, it's xenophobia that's fuelled the recent crackdowns.

Exactly my own observation over the years. and. of course, you can do so much more damage with a high powered pick-up truck ! -
Speaking Thai - is it necessary these days for an expat ?
mancub replied to The Cobra's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I made it a priority to learn years ago essentially because I hated the idea of being one of those who converse in childlike language and need someone to hold my hand everywhere. Unless your partner speaks your language fluently you are only going to get half the story at best...a source of great frustration for many. I don't pretend to have integrated here but I'm happier in the knowledge that I can have a decent conversation- 208 replies
