thanks for the info DrJack
trying to keep it as simple as possible .. always welcome an excuse to visit Pattaya ????
best would've been a 60 TR visa (with extension) but I couldn't wait for postage to and from Canberra with Easter holidays.

thankyou very much Ubonjoe.
I was concerned they might want evidence of a longer stay in Pattaya (more than a week or so)

Hi folks
What are my chances of getting a Non O 90 day visa based on retirement at Jomtien.
Arriving next week visa exempt, have 800k in bank, staying in hotel for a week or 2 then travelling around.
Also will immigration issue a residency certificate to renew drivers licenses?

Many thanks Ubon Joe for clearing that up. I probably wasted 5 weeks of the visa but was relieved to have it all sorted on the spot.

Interesting topic ..I had a Non-Immigrant O-A Multi Entry Visa with an "enter before date" of 20 March 2015I last entered Thailand on 11 Feb 2015 and passport was stamped "admitted until" 10 Feb 2016.On 16 Feb 2015 I decided to enquire at the local Thai immigration office about the next step. When I explained I still need to frequently leave Thailand (for work) the officer said pay 4,000 baht now and I received a (Non-RE) Multiple re-entry stamp valid until 10 Feb 2016. Note: This stamp is identical to post #29 by Jamie2009 but headed "Non-RE"There were some language difficulties but I think I paid 2000 baht for the extension, 1900 baht for the multi entry and 100 for expedition ??Can anybody here throw any light on whether this was correct? Thanks

How long do you want to extend? As i went through Thai immigration in October i mentioned i would like to stay 33 days (total). She said "no problem" - just pay the fine (200B per day) on the way out! I said are you sure? Should i apply for a visa extension? i don't want to get into trouble! She smiled knowingly and assured me it was ok. When i presented myself 33 days later the immigration officer looked at my passport and said "oh, you have overstayed. Walk this way please! Fill out a form, pay 600b and 15 minutes later i was on my way. He too assured me there would be no black mark against my name. Just my experience.

Question: if i visit thailand from oz for say 34 days do i need a visa or just pay the overstay fees on departure. Will my "record" be flagged as an overstayer which i presume would work against me on future visits?

Have you got any ideas or guidelines on how much money is required in girlfriends bank account when applying for a visa?
An immigration officer told me over the phone as a rule $1,000 per month in OZ, 3 months = $3,000

Update: I arrived visa exempt in April and later obtained a 30 day extension. Today I got the 60 day covid extension. This will give me nearly 120 days all up in Thailand and then I will leave.
Question: Do I need to do a 90 day report even though I was in the immigration office today? (I forgot to ask them)
