I just renewed mine 3 months early.

It's just a guess but I suspect that it can be done up to a year before expiration because I recall that when it was first issued it was possible to pay for a year and then a subsequent 5 years at the same time.

Thank you, I will give it a try next month, mine will expire in September 2018.

I have updated my red police registration book 6 times, 3 times in the initial location, central Thailand, then 3 times in the new location after whole family moved to the far North, always about 2 weeks to maybe 3 days before the expiry date. But if it was late my guess is that would attract some attention.

Thank you, I am planning to do it 3-4 weeks earlier if they let me.

By the time she said that  about the ministerial requirements she had already backed down and I realised she was going to allow the transfer if I signed the declaration.  Otherwise I might have asked her for that.

I have only heard of Chinese, Nepalese and other Indian Sub-Continent people having fake ID cards.  Actually they are not fake because they are genuinely issued by corrupt DO officials using the Day of the Jackal method, i.e. in the name of Thais who would have been the same age but are deceased.  There was a DO in Tak that issued several hundred ID cards to Nepalese using this method. I have never heard of anyone getting a fake ID card pretending to be naturalised.  It is far too difficult because DOs are paranoid about naturalised Thais and you have to get your name listed in the RG to convince them.  It is not conceivable that any DO officials would issue ID cards to people with fake RG announcements and naturalisation certificates.

Correct, its far too difficult to issue a genuine ID with a foregin name starting as xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx

I agree it is a cultural issue and I expected the questions about why no children when I went into it and wasn't phased when they came up.  However, I do think that asking a childless couple for a medical certificate to prove the wife is unable to have children is completely over the top and downright rude. If that could be explained as part of a culture, there would to be something seriously amiss with the culture in my opinion.  Given that that it makes no difference to anyone's application whether you have children or not and, in his case, he didn't even need a Thai wife, it cannot be said that the question was a necessary part of his job.

People do feel even bitter when they are forced/asked to do a DNA test if they have children togather to prove they are their real parents.

  5. The worst thing is, this red alien's book does not have your 13 digit ID number on it, so if you are using it as an ID then you have to present your blue thabian too and as soon as you present your thabian baan which also indicates your original nationality you have to present your Passport and when you present your original passport without any entry stamps !!!! You are back to square one.

I was under the impression that a home country police clearance was now necessary, as it is for PR, but that must be incorrect.  I was not asked for any police clearance but SB went next door with a set of my finger prints and got my local police clearance for me, which I think they used to do for everyone then.

I think if you're a PR, applying for citizenship, you have been through the checks already.

  7. Thanks guys for your answers ..I have PR since three years but I didn't change Tax ID to be ID no. as the blue thabian baan as I didn't know so now I'm not sure if it is better change now or to wait till I get Thai ID..I'm confused now..and what about social security ...I'm afraid to have the same problem as GabbaGabbaHey that I cannot submit my tax return online any more if I changed Tax ID no. ..what is best thing to do?

I don't know what will be better, but as I am preparing myself to apply for citizenship, I thought all the related documents should start with my already assigned ID number, specially my tax returns.

  8. Hi..anybody knows when any foreigner get the Thai ID and he is working in Thailand and he is filling his income and paying taxes on his tax ID no. through his employer so does he continue using the same tax id no. that he was using before he was granted Thai nationality as I noticed that Thais are using their Thai ID no. instead of a tax id no. to fill their income and taxes..Thanks for any help to understand this issue

I did change my tax ID number after receiving PR, so now it matches with my Thai 13 digit ID number assigned in my blue thabian baan, starting with 8, you can do it any revenue office.

  9. Normally yes, since I'm in that exact category and I have been asked for it about two months ago (Note you don't need to prepare in advance, the request will be -or not- in the set of letters you get on your interview day).

Really? I have never left Thailand after being a PR, so how could I could be involved in any criminal activity abroad?

  10. My white book never ventures out of the safe except when I travel abroad.I understand the predicament however and I have had numerous boring conversations about the absence of a TM 6 card. Some hotels (oddly enough the 5 star variety more than the lower tier ones) seem happy with a passport copy.I have had mixed experience with the pink id but the trend seems to be in the right direction. But the sensible advice is if in doubt take along your original passport.

Exactly same experience, my new passport is also virgin, no stamps at all.
  11. Deadline for hard copy PNG 91 and 90 personal tax returns is 31 March or the nearest working day after that. For online filing you get an extra week or so with the deadline announced annually by the RD.  In 2017 the online deadline was 8 April.  It is actually quite easy to file online once you've got the hang of it.  The forms are translated into English too, if you can figure out out to get at them.

I just downloaded the RD app. from Google Play which allows you to pay taxes online, you need to register to-be able to use it, I registered myself but it's asking for a laser ID? Any ideas?
