Way too politically charged. And the thread would be out of control in a matter of an hour or so anyway.

Thanks. seems to have been silly to do this, but I transferred funds - purpose ''for investment''. Got a cann from BOT, when I explained I was buying stock in my bank, the Siam Commercial, a public company on the Thai Stock Exchange for retirement income purposes, they asked for a list of shareholders. As you can imagine, the transfer was rejected.
Did you provide them with a list of shareholders? Maybe not a complete list, but maybe just the board would have been sufficient. There should be an "investors relations" link and then at least you can access an annual report.
Did you ask TR customer service to explain exactly what they were requesting, and why it was needed?

- Is the NUM key enabled?
- Do you have an external USB keyboard that you can use/borrow? this is the quickest way to rule out hardware vs software issues. If you can type with no problems with hardware
- Also you can test with on-screen keyboard (windows built-in) and/or use web-based keyboard like http://en.key-test.ru/ This will also allow you to visualize if the keys you are touching are actually being recognized by system when you are pressing down.
- Cleaning the keyboard might help

They should have the Thai/english version replacement part if the laptop was bought in Thailand. How old is your laptop. Where did you buy it from?

For someone with many posts you are very naive. Your post will attract many laughs.
Fact is that agents are not "secret agents" lurking around immigration offices. Most are registered companies with offices that resemble tour offices.
Along with their websites, Facebook etc and some on Thaivisa. Did you arrive yesterday?
Agreed. I know of an immigration office that has a satellite law firm office directly across the street from the immigration office. (The ultimate soft advertisement). The same law office will also issue receipts that actually say what you are getting with the fee amount: Non-O Visa 1 year.
Is that legitimate enough for you?

The issue never should have gone this far in the first place.....from either side. Glad to see the matter can be settled amicably though

You have presented your case to her. But now you want to make the decision for her also?
Or rather, for her to make the "right" decision, according to your standards.

Patman30 has a point. I think speculation at this point is kind of mute. Either they will extend the amnesty or they wont.
If the fundamentals that caused the amnesty are mostly still in place (low percentage of reliable flights, neighbor/regional borders still closed, surge/resurgence of covid-19 from certain countries, travel related companies going bankrupt/significant reorganization [particularly air travel companies], etc), then there is a good chance that the amnesty will be extended.
Will Thai gov't eventually just have an in-country amnesty extension that does not require embassy letter?? Will have to see if cabinet or police order does this.

How about Krungsri bank? Is it a partner-bank of Transferwise too?
Don't think so. But that doesn't mean it's not worth a try. Try it with a few bucks. See what happens. There is no minimum dollar amount to use "funds for long stay in Thailand" reason or any reason.
That's one of the nice things about services like TransferWise. You can test it with small amounts. See if it works to your liking. Try 2 or more different recipient Thai bank accounts.
10 hours ago, KarenBravo said:I believe that using Transferwise is also classified as a domestic transfer in the Bangkok Bank book.
When using transferwise, after confirming the exchange rate and which Thai bank account will be the recipient, you pick the purpose of the transfer. You must select "Funds for Long Term Stay in Thailand". This will set you up for the afternoon 14:00 deposit. It will appear as an international transfer. In fact, if you have international remittance SMS alert, you will get one when it arrives. At least with Bangkok bank, this is the case.
If you use a reason like "General monthly living expenses", you will receive the transfer much faster, but it will appear as a local transfer.

But there is nothing in the Ministerial notice that requires this. So unless a police order or head office in Immigration announces this, technically this would be an office-by-office interpretation.
I do hope that those people who extended on or prior to Sept 26th get their extra 30 days (until Nov 30th). Otherwise the panic driven, chicken-with-head-cutoff, mad dash to extend before Sept 26th deadline was all for nothing....for the applicant anyway.

Very sad indeed for all the school children and I wish them all a speedy recovery. However, may I ask why a rather insensitive video of the injured children was posted with the OP?? Just imagine the distress it may cause if viewed by any of the parents and/or relatives. With respect, do "global moderators" have the power to remove such videos??
Thai news normally blur the victims.
And of course images of dead victims, alcohol, gun, and kids faces are usually blurred by default.
I looked at the video. All the relevant people are blurred out so they cannot be identified. News is still news though; cannot change what happened.

I think both sides were a bit hasty on this one.
Associating the corkage fee + rude treatment to staff slavery vs suing a customer to get them to stop posting negative stuff + news article about suing customer.
Why hasn't the matter been settled yet is beyond me. Doesn't benefit either side to continue down this path. Especially the hotel has more to lose.

Could it be that they realized that an unrealistic response to covid-19, where you decimate the majority of the population's means to earn a living (and by extension feed themselves and their family) could have potentially been worse than the virus itself?
https://off-guardian.org/2020/04/01/could-the-covid19-response-be-more-deadly-than-the-virus/
They can only do so much in that the majority of the world has also sealed itself off. Sweden also responded similarly, where they didn't cut off both their arms or legs unnecessarily to save the body. You'd be alive, but what quality of life would you have?

Not necessarily. If it was for a non-o conversion, then next time they can do 1 year extension.
2 hours ago, n00dle said:And where does the ingormation your interpretation is based on come from.
I personally havent seen any concrete posting of the new policy anywhere and will continue to wait until we have a link to the policy as published in the royal Gazette
but I will repost the relevant screenshots.
I do agree to wait for the Ministry announcement text to be 100% sure. Should be within early next week.
In the past, there has always been 1 or more news announcements about drafts and/or cabinet meetings. Then followed by Ministerial announcement shortly afterwards with full text of law.

yes, see this thread OP: https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1184985-visa-extensions-approved-under-previous-amnesty-to-be-upheld-until-nov-30
Here is a relevant screenshot:

And as ubonjoe suggested, let's wait for the full ministry announcement. About 3-8 days under normal circumstances.

Ok men just a question and i not being smart about this. What if you got a 2 month extension instead of 30 days what does this mean then. Its great for guys who got 30 day extension but what about guys who got 60 day extension
Wait for the the full ministry announcement. The one that will be entered into the Royal Gazette. Should be end of this week or beginning of next week. ( @jackdd when do they normally add these things to the Royal gazette?)
My speculation based upon the news announcement is you have until Nov, 2020 (an extra 30 days only). But let's wait.

29 minutes ago, hotchilli said:They are on overstay since Sept 26th..
Did you and others actually read the article????
Also consider the reality that the fundamental conditions that caused the amnesty had not changed. such as:
- covid-19 affecting global economies, including severe restrictions on ability to onwards travel safely and/or without significant delays.
- second wave of covid-19 hitting several countries
- nearly all other countries having shelter-in-place provisions for existing foreigners.
- ~20% of your economy depends on formal/informal tourist/expat spending.
- How would the optics look to attempt to round up 100k people who are (for the most part) not causing any harm.
- etc.
58 minutes ago, CorpusChristie said:Many people decided to apply for an extension on the very last day , despite being asked not to do that
Since the fundamentals of what caused the original amnesty(ies) did not change significantly, there was no good reason NOT to extend visa amnesty.......
.....Although I did predict this very thing to happen (immigration likely wanted to first collect some extension/agent revenue, then announce amnesty "late" ). There were better ways to collect said revenue without this cartoonish panic at the deadline (even for Thai standards)........but that's for a different post/thread.
If you read the cabinet meeting notes (google translate), you would have also seen their "reasoning" there, which is at least partially in line with the reality (fundamentals) that I am referring to.
Technically, we should wait for the full resolution to be announced that will be entered into the Royal Gazette to see more exact details of which foreigners are covered. But so far I don't see how any foreigner that qualified for the first covid-19 amnesty back in March 26(?) 2020 is on overstay now.
There is a lot of vindictiveness from certain holier-than-thou expats on this forum that have come out strongly during this covid amnesty period. Not sure where it is coming from though. Genuine concern for Thai border security? Jealousy from others getting "free" temporary visa for an extended period vs having to go through the rigmarole of a 1 year non-imm [category] extension?? Just grumpy with nothing else to do? Maybe a polling topic addressing this should be made.

You would need your passport for any kind of visa or extension of stay, and your nationally is stated there.
Do you understand this?
7 hours ago, freesudani said:Well... if it was gonna be done under the table and through contacts then my nationality shouldnt matter .
@freesudani You have a lot to learn about how the visa world actually works. In short, nationality matters in terms of how different category of visas are obtained, who can obtain them, etc. G20-"G40" countries are usually no problem. Yes, a lot of it is economically driven. But also depends on diplomatic/reciprocal agreements between countries.
as a side note, as I predicted the amnesty will be extended until October 31st (wait for the formal announcement).

Now that the cabinet has approved it, can you lock all the other speculative threads and "news" release threads?
And perhaps link to the cabinet press release in the OP.

I'm considering having a side car (sa-leeng) put on a motorbike. I was considering buying an used bike or a new one. But I wanted it to be an automatic shift.
I was thinking initially Click 125cc with wide seat. But any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Visa expired + letter of Embassy
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

- can you be more specific whether he had a non-o visa or a 1-year extension of stay with multiple re-entry permit.
- What date did the last permission to stay start/expire?
the amnesty period should cover him from from 26 March until the end of this month (October)
