Saying that the same restaurant had staff as slaves without any proof is equally a no-no. If he had just said the cork fee sucks, there wouldn't have been a problem.

appx $17 USD . It is to discourage people from bringing in outside drinks to their restaurant. Of course you could probably consume it in the hotel room (or anywhere outside of that particular restaurant) without any problems.
Just go to a different restaurant if it really bothers you.

would like to hear the reviewer's version of events. But if the hotel's timeline of events are accurate, then I could understand why they at least wanted to talk to him.
I suspect if these reviews were to be updated and/or removed, and perhaps an agreement to not go to anymore hotel/restaurants owned by the same entity, then the suit would be settled/dropped instantly.
Kind of sad that it took a lawsuit for the offender to respond to the hotel's request for comment.

Android 10, fairly flawless, although the native camera app keeps crashing if I reload it in certain circumstances for unknown reasons. I suspect it could be conflicting with another app, but I'm still investigating.
Recently did a huge system update (1.5gb), bringing the security updates current to Sept 2020. The camera crashing problem seems to have disappeared. With that annoyance out of the way, the M31 phone is much more perfect now.

Why hasn't Ebay woken up to this scam, or maybe they just don't give a sh*t.
eBay, like several other "Western" companies, have been bought outright or sold out to China. If Chinese sellers were to all stop listing, eBay's revenue stream would be significantly impacted.
It's a question of how dependent your business revenue is on the mainland Chinese buyers (or suppliers), and how far you are willing to go to maintain that revenue stream. Just to give you an idea of how CCP throws its weight around:

Good info, any idea if they can assist with applications in provinces outwith BKK?
Thx
If you are prepared to travel, consider these guys: https://www.facebook.com/premierthailegalservices/
Not sure how much they will do over the phone. They deal directly with immigration staff locally and in Bangkok, but said for the first time client in-person meeting is best to assess situation. Reach out and see what they can do.

KLM every day, many other airlines also flies now. Lots of Thai restaurants and Thai "massage" places around if you are looking for that.
maybe the better question would be how many international arrivals are there? And where are they coming from?

They should have developed a special booking engine for the ASQ Hotels, let everyone book their own flights + the usual negative Test proof etc when going to the embassy. Much easier, faster and cheaper process.
[emphasis mine] And that explains precisely why Thai logic has not been able to fully embrace this method quickly.

Sweden, you are welcomed here, gets little bit cold next month but you don't need to wear a facemask. Lots of Thai girls around.
How many flights in-out?

It's kind of late anyway. You could get a 30 day covid extension and then go from there. Or use an agent that can possibly still get you 1 year extension + overstay waiver (if it is just a couple of days).
I suspect they will make an announcement on or after 26th with some kind of additional extension. But who knows what or which visa group it would cover. Even for Thai standards, it was kind of irresponsible IMO for Thai gov't to wait so long for such an important announcement.

Likely just 60 and 90 day options available now.
At 50k, someone was making a pretty penny.
You'd be surprised how much of that goes to agent vs people who actually get the visa done. (a huge chunk goes to the visa makers).

no need to do this.
You can pray that they might eventually extend amnesty (late, after they've collected some tea money from this round's deadline)
Or you can attempt the agent route. Somewhere around 50k depending on your circumstances and what you qualify for. I will follow up with PM.

if you join Australian military or are otherwise out of the country, doesn't this mean you cannot join Thai military simultaneously?

@ubonjoe is issuing an under consideration stamp a big deal? Seems easier to do that.
I'm guessing they don't want to be on the hook if the application is denied.

The friend I made reference to entered on METV. Hence the agent needs to obtain non o first.
Your friend visiting Thai family is very minor. Should be very cheap.
Annual extension based on marriage is expensive. Requires docs go up food chain.
In fact if over 50 agent would prefer extension based on retirement and cheapo option.
Friend entered on a non-immigrant o. Did not have financial requirement seasoned, which i figured contributed to the total cost. Visiting Thai family (spouse, child) seem to have the largest document requirements, ironically.
I think an entire thread should be started specifically for agent extensions Sept-Nov, 2020. Costs, location, what category, et al.
edit: I also suspect the a big part of the reasoning for this non-renewal of amnesty extension was to [re]generate some revenue at immigration. 4-6 months is a long time without any extension revenue.

My good friend obtains same for 12 month 49k. That price would not be available now. It takes up to 2 weeks .
What specific category (reason) of visa/extension would you be obtaining?
I had a friend quoted around ฿44k from a law office, and it would be a 12 month extension of non-o for visiting Thai family; I think retirement is a little cheaper. Normally 1 week, but there is a "rush" of applications over last couple of days ????

Yesterday or today was the last day. Maybe for Bangkok metro area and neighbor provinces, tomorrow may be the cutoff day.

Nearly every developed country has been "generous" to legal tourists/non-imms during this covid-19 situation. So what other country is mimicking an exodus mid-pandemic. Is this practice of shoving foreigners out during an international viral pandemic that has significantly affected world travel + economies commonplace?
Are any of the land borders even open?
I understand the gov't need to perhaps keep track of the foreigner population. And maybe there is some anti-foreigner sentiment worried about a few agent foreigners potentially influencing Thai politics (e.g. democracy protests). But just tossing upwards of 100k foreigners out suddenly is the answer? When most of them are not causing any problems and are likely actually helping the local economies?
I guess I shouldn't be surprised. In fact, Thai gov't will probably go forward with their initial scrub plan and then at the last minute or perhaps 27-29th immediately backtrack.

Samsung Galaxy M31?? 6GB/128GB for ฿7k
https://www.lazada.co.th/products/samsung-galaxy-m31-6128-gb-i775508518-s1529252707.html
Android 10, fairly flawless, although the native camera app keeps crashing if I reload it in certain circumstances for unknown reasons. I suspect it could be conflicting with another app, but I'm still investigating.
Now the M51 has just about arrived, so I expect the M31 to be marked down a bit more. It was in the low ฿6000s during 09.09 sale, if you include all the coupons. I expect something similar for 10.10??
M series seems to be a big hit. Recommended M30s it to a Western friend who was a Technophobe, and she fell in love with it. now she wants a smartwatch. Go figure. You can only buy M series online.
Got a Oppo A12 2020 for a lady friend. Another "online exclusive" 4GB/64GB; ฿4600. Seems to be working well. Not a huge fan of the Chinese brands, but it does seem like they put some thought into the phone.
And Huawei branded phones might not be a good choice now, because of the lack of Google Play license and other apps you may expect to be natively installed.

I may have to go run an errand at Bangkok Bank there on Rat u thid 200 road. of course there could be other things to do. Maybe I should have put that in the first post. I wanted to confirm the standalone banks are open as normal.

are the banks still open during the week? (the standalone ones outside of Jungceylon).

Already in Thailand for several consecutive months.
I planned to take a bus and/or drive through there in a week or two. I will probably end up in Patong. Anything special that must be done in terms of covid testing or quarantine?
Any problems finding a hotel there?

I strongly recommend ordering through Lazada. Particularly lazmall/lazglobal venues. Haven't seen overseas (China) vendors take longer than 2 weeks for package to arrive. Usually about 6-8 days to arrive into Thailand. Then 1-2 days for Kerry to deliver after it clears customs/lazada hub. They have really improved the tracking also (via the lazada app anyway). 100% delivery rate in my experience.
Also, you can use COD in 95% of the orders. If they don't deliver, you lost nothing.
A friend of mine stopped using AliExpress after the 3rd package never arrived. He did claim one and got refunded immediately; the other two were apparently inexpensive enough and not worth the trouble. But decided to just use Lazada exclusively.

American expat charged with defamation after leaving multiple negative reviews online

So why did he turn it into a staff being slave thing? Why didn't he just stick to "hey, we spent 6000 baht for rooms and still were asked to pay 500 baht for corkage....staff was rude also"
There is a difference between leaving an honest review and just being vindictive. Should he be arrested for it??? hmmmmm.
I do think this will be settled to everyone's benefit.
