P.S. Even the guy who had been there for eight years will only get a six month contract? That doesn't sound right to me.
He has indeed. Western guy upper 50's. Western teacher #2- 4 years; Japanese Teacher- 5 years, Me American -1 year.
We all had to sign an acceptance letter before they will process our contracts (also new protocol) .

Anyone seeing activity like this?
Myself and 3 other teachers just received 6 month contract renewal and no pay raise (2-3% is standard and was given last renewal).
We have been given no specific info about why.
All 4 teachers are from different countries and been employed between 1 - 8 years. Myself only 1 year.
Since we can only speculate as to why, (no money etc) I wanted to know if others out there have run into the same mess.
I do not wish to mention the name of the University. It is a well know and respected government school with relatively high standards.
Thanks for any info you have. Very concerning activity for those of us with kids and no marriage visa.

Global Monitors, please move this to the trash. Thai people. facebook. Viral. I hope there is more to life.

The daily dose of what?
Suggestions welcomed here:
Exactly. Maybe I should stop reading ThaiVisa because between all the stupid jokes and bad taste this country scares the crap out of me right now. Too much death and negligence. I have children here and don't feel like I can protect them from the stupidity out there. Yeah yeah, I know "Don't like it, go home!" Right?

Geezus Gunna, get a new Thai teacher. The language does indeed have a future past and present tense.
enlighten us all, Mr. Brain

So much for innocent until proven guilty.
You bunch a hangman are a bad as they come. Who knows what state he was in when he fell asleep? who knows how he was treated when awoken? His physical state shows abuse or worse. Hope I never get caught in the wrong place at the wring time.

PM to lift martial law, invoke Section 44 of interim constitution
Is he waving to his imaginary fan club in this picture?
This guy is so full of himself that he will never hand over the power until his last breath.
It isn't very clear but is that the hunger salute or the Carabao salute?
he is making the "i lub you" sign.

Plans for the new "Neptune Thailand Resort and Spa" are underway according to senior Thai officials. One catch, Thai people can't swim.

Actually its good that the pilots did not fly.. they might have felt stressed after this accident. They lost two coworkers who they might have known well. Stressed people make mistakes.. that is something you don't want on a plane. So in a way they chose for safety.
What a load of nonsense!!I'm beginning to suspect that all is not well inside the German airline industry. First, you have a group of Germanwings pilots refuse to fly their planes after this crash. Adolf Galland, they're not. And, now, the keys to a plane with 149 people on it being given over to a 28 year old just two years out of the company flight school. Soft, soft, soft. Not exactly the same sort of stuff that went into Ernst Udet, who had the decency to do himself in while alone. These Germans seem emotionally fragile, sloppy, and downright weak.
So because of one nutcase you classify all German pilots as emotionally fragile??
Are you German....................................
If you loose close co worker in general it will impact you and sure you can act tough and step over it.. but if that causes you to make errors. That would be real bad.
(just speculating here on the reason but seems valid enough)
I dont want a pilot that cant deal with stress 24/7 no matter how emotional he may be.I think he was dealing fairly well. If it is true that his breathing was normal then that shows something very strange in deed. It is pretty difficult to put ones self in that situation, but I am 100% sure that I would have been experiencing fast breathing; even if it was intentional. There could be more here.

Why not plow under crops with a plow?
Plows are expensive, as is petrol. Most hill farmers have very few modern hand tools let alone any modern mechanical ones. And if you drive around the areas in the mountains where farmers burn, you'll soon realize that most areas are not easily accessible to mechanized equipment.
It is not possible. The rice is cut long and then thrashed and the remaining stalk is left in a pile, then burned.
The government can NOT stop the burning. I moved from Lampang to Cha-am to escape it after my daughter spent 3 nights in the hospital suffering from a lung infection last year, meanwhile her loving Grandfather is out burning the forest so he can plant more tapioca root crops. He just didn't see the connection between smoke and getting sick. There is no way to stop it. People are doing the burning in remote locations and despite the MooBahn telling everyone that they will be fined and even arrested, no one is willing to turn in their neighbor. This type of problem requires a social education program which I doubt will happen. Sad situation because kids make out the worse. Their much more susceptible to the particulates. The private hospital in Lampang had at least a dozen kids in for related problems.

Not everyone is a rich falang. I am of simple means and on salary from a university that does not afford me to save much. I have 2 kids who I would do anything for. If I got sick it would not be too long before I would lose my job and run out of cash. Then what? Am I a dead beat? "Scurvy bilge"? i "live" here whether or not I have permission. I dont have the 400K that would make my visa option simple so I am stuck. It is not a stretch to think I could become an intentional over stayer should the circumstances arise. I don't like the "black list". Life is not black and white.

Horrendous.
Safety first. And I hope the families sue the hell out of the condo management. It might create a small change in the understanding for liability in public places.
how about inspection requirements? Thai building code: faster, cheaper, easier.

I've got this crumbling old poster on my wall for years, with the "Seven Ladies Of Songkran" all riding around on their animals with arrows etc. Our ancestors knew how to create some great imagery, it is a shame people nowadays often don't take the time to look at this stuff.
wanna see that poster.

The man is clearly sick. It's sad that he won't get the medical treatment he needs to confront his problems, and that he will have no chance of reform leading to his having a normal life outside prison.
Really? You actually think like this? You are the clearly sick one. Do you have kids?

So many stupid comments made I can't stop laughing to make a serious point.

Bottom line here- most of us foreigners never would have step foot in there. We would have gagged from the stench. Your body has "detectors" built-in. Two days ago it rained here in Nakhon Pathom and in the morning the was the foulest stink near where i buy Chinese doughnuts. Sewers filled or stagnant runoff was full- I dont know. but what I DO know is that Thai people were business as usual; buying food, standing around, smoking, chatting and I was retching with my shirt over my face. Desensitized they are.

Trying not to hate Thailand is really hard when it keeps giving me so many reasons to do so.
KrungSri Bank Nakhon Pathom branch. "sawatdeeka blah blah blah blah." "Hello, Do you speak English?" click. Dial back. Exact scenario replayed double the blood pressure.
3rd call. I try some Thai and get transferred. Yeah, I can speak Thai. BUT, i needed to ask something that my Thai wouldn't allow me.
So, what the **** Thailand! The Bank of Ayudhya is on the big side, no? This kind of things leaves me with a lot of anger and frustration. I need to vent or I'm gonna go Red Shirt on some poor bank teller!
((Apparently you can not write the three letters W T F with out spaces between them or they will be automatically <DELETED>. Annoying!))

He does look mean. But he's got sensitive eyes. And the bullet was only rubber after all. Stupid question: what is wholesale theft? I can imagine it's cheaper than retail theft which can be a smig pricey.

I was just on that road and it is frighting. If I was the driver it would have been fine but I dont like putting my life in the hands of some unknown Thai dude. FYI: they put run-away-truck barriers there for a reason. In extreme mountainous areas like that, brakes fail. They have run-away ramps all over the place where I am from in Pennsylvania and they get used. It's not Thailand. It's got to do with physics.

Tied him to the bed and left him without supervision.
Somebody needs some good spanking here.
I'll take that spanking, sir.

My wife uses that one "you didn't ask". maybe it is a Thai thing. Excellence at deflecting responsibility; a moral one. There is the problem;difference in moral code.
