He has sandwiches and pizza, along with an excellent breakfast menu.

Sent from my iPad using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Yes, at least some items are "Hawaiian."  The breakfast menu includes n omelette made with spam (national Hawaiian food item) and pineapple, among other stuff....several other breakfast items. The pizza is very good.   Nice staff too.   Give the place a try.

Of course this was mentioned here, but my limited attention-span will not allow me to read thru over 3000 posts.

Question: Restaurant serving (true) Mexican Food? Where?

Waitresses wearing large Sombrero's and Marriatschees playing in the background would be a nice touch, but not mandatory.
    - Will travel for good Mexican Food, as long as within Pattaya city-limits.
    Thx & cheers.

None, "true" or "Tex-Mex."  You can go to Mike's Mexican restaurant between Jomtien and Pattaya (maybe soi 5?....look it up).  He makes bland food, but the chile rellenos are just OK (not made with real pablano).  He also makes the best margaritas in town.   In Thailand, there is a place in Bangkok called "La Monita" that is a couple of steps better.  Sadly, we have reached a point where Taco Bell is actually desired by a lot of expats, including me.

Ate just last night at the recently relocated "Wok-N-Rok," now located in Jomtien. While the food is exactly what you would come to expect from Western-style Chinese food, my friend got a little stab of 30 baht when he asked for some more ice for his drink. I'll only do takeout from now on and only when I just HAVE to have some.

Hamburger? Sizzlers has a WONDERFUL Swiss cheeseburger with mushrooms which includes the salad bar.

Well.......maybe I will try Sizzler for a hamburger.  Thanks.  I saw the WokNRok place but decided not to even try it because it appeared to be British-Chinese food, the worst on the planet.  I am virtually certain that 99.9% of us have no desire to eat what passes here as "authentic" Chinese food (e.g. pig ears).  Lots of people would probably love American-Chinese food, which you cannot find in Thailand.  By the way, I have lived in the USA and spent several years in China, both north and south.  Most of the authentic Chinese dishes that 99.9% of us would like are not on the menu over here.  It is really strange, IMHO.  Maybe one day it will happen!  And on that day, maybe some excellent Mexican-American food will show up (if not, I would welcome Taco Bell as even it is better than most of the overpriced, tasteless crap that is being served over here.......with one exception:  La Monita in Bangkok). I agree with another poster who stated that Bangkok is an international food destination.  The restaurant scene is growing in Pattaya-Jomtien and becoming a bit more diverse, but most of the food sucks and, as I said, the lack of any fundamental understanding of hygiene among Thais is a big negative........a dark cloud that is having a negative impact on the food scene.  I know farang owners who are trying to establish hygienic practices at their establishments, but often cannot make Thais understand what the rest of the world knows already about food preparation, hygiene and disease.

My first year living here, I tried eating primarily a Thai diet. After my Thai GF and I split (we're still friends, she's STILL hitting me up for money!), I stopped eating Thai food. Lo and behold, I started having solid bowel movements again.

Thais have no understanding of hygiene, and that means this place will never be known for its food.  I have had food poisoning too many times to count in Pattaya-Jomtien.  And, IMHO, we still do not have decent Chinese food (at least what most Westerners enjoy), a decent hamburger, and not even one decent Mexican food place.

  5. So depressing to see THEM continue to destroy Jomtien Beach.  It was once beautiful.  Pattaya Beach is also horrible now.........same renovation plan.  How in the world could they decide to embrace the absolute worst renovation plan imaginable!  Both plans see to have been designed to promote skin cancer and beach erosion, and to make the areas as uncomfortable for tourists as possible.

  6. Ate at Hawker Chan 10 minutes ago.  The place is large and 1/2 was sort of ropped off.  There were about 7 other people there (some speaking Thai and others Chinese).   I tried the ribs w/ some noodle item.  The taste was good but almost zero meat on the ribs (will never order that again).  And the noodles were in a clump, but you have to separate them and drench them in the nice sauces.....tasty in my opinion.  Next time, I plan on ordering the pork w/ noodle.  One poster said the chicken was undercooked, but one poster said the chicken was great.........so, maybe I will try both.  The prices are inexpensive and the food does appear to be clean.   It is certainly worth trying.

That is certainly a possibility that suspiciously exists.

It really is totally crazy.  The area in the pics that were posted earlier used to have 4-5 rows of beautiful old-growth shade trees.  Now you can't walk down there any more because of the intense sunshine and heat.  It does seem as though somebody wants to ruin both beachfronts--in Pattaya and Jomtien--and they have.  But we all know what happened:  $$$$$$ with no thought about the consequences, and certainly no consideration as to whether farangs would like it (which 99% do not).

  9. They made a huge mistake destroying all of the old-growth trees in parts of the beachfront.  The trees helped keep the soil/sand in place (helped prevent the soil/sand slide that is taking place).  That is one problem.  The other problem is the horrible construction, which is not just in the area in the pictures, but all along both Pattaya and Jomtien beaches.  What a mess they have created........so ugly compared to what it was....so people unfriendly.  Now it really does look like a freeway.  I really miss the shade trees!  It is so hot now to try to walk/ exercise along the beachfront area.  The entire project has been a DISASTER.

  10. It is totally insane and unacceptable!  What could the police/city be thinking to allow them to bring that horrific carnival Karaoke show to that location.  They are pissing off everybody at hotels and condos in the area.  IT IS LOUD !  The number to call to report and complain about loud noise is 1337.

So right--amazing how it has changed in those years, and continues to change rapidly.  And, this despite all those many postings proclaiming the city has died or is dying.

The much better version of Pattaya-Jomtien that existed in the recent past has been destroyed! Compared to what it was 15-20 years ago, the current version of Pattaya-Jomtien is like a toilet bowl with crap floating around.  Pattaya-Jomtien is like a terminally ill patient with cancer cells that are rapidly growing.  It is a shame that the vast majority of people are unable to understand that growth is not always a good thing.  Instead, they think just like cancer cells:  all growth is good, all growth is good, all growth is good.  And, eventually, that type of thinking kills the host.

  12. I do not see any rubbish in the picture.  The water is not filthy.  I think all of you need "rose-colored" glasses like the ones that I wear.  I am confident that the clean beaches and water will attract extremely wealthy tourists, and the place will soon resemble Monaco.  I also have some condo units that I would like to sell.  Any suckers.......ooopps , I mean buyers out there?

This activity needs to be done daily rather than once or twice a week. Also, the root cause needs proper attention, not just the symptons.

I find the number of plastic bottles that wash up on the beach, every day, mindboggling. Where the hell do they come from?

Source 1:  Most of the streams from northern and central Thailand find their way to the Chaopraya (sp.) river, which passes through the large Bangkok Metropolitan area and "dumps" its pollution-laden water into the Gulf of Thailand.  It then flows down towards Pattaya-Jomtien.

Source 2: Boats that dump their waste into the Gulf of Thailand.

Source 3: Direct dumping of sewerage from multiple sources that I will not mention

Yes, I stand corrected.   Kids and mothers/fathers do seem to like the pirate ship.  The project is only 99% bad.

Yes, I did make some horrendous, unforgivable, tragic mistakes :)  Oh, what the grammar police must think of me.   I write quickly and rarely check my posts for spelling and grammar.:sorry:

  16. Jomtien Beach, at least in the early 1980s, had no beach chair vendors.  It had 4-5 rows of gorgeous shade trees.  It was truly beautiful then and needed no makeover.  Over the years, the collision of greed and a twisted view of what a beach should look like, has destroyed what made Jomtien Beach special.  You can find palm trees everywhere, but it is not easy to find beaches lined with old-growth trees.  They have, IMHO, committed a crime against future generations.

Any recommendations for a good Lebanese place in Pattaya?

Is Israeli food close enough?  If so, then Jasmine in Soi Buakow (same road that leads to Pattaya-Central Hospital) is great!  I just ate hummus with caramelized onions, great pita bread and a tomato-cucumber salad.  Really delicious food.

Jasmine Restaurant on Soi Buakhaow, a few meters from Soi 15.
