You do know we are in Thailand don't you? Why are you commenting logically, you are not making sense.

Things often happen in Thailand that should not happen.

    Can you explain that?

I talk about "YOU" want stay home, that you not would drive into "richard_smith...". As I was hopping you still have enough driving skills to be able to stop if someone in front of you make a stop which you wasn't expecting.

Yes I know, but to improve the laws, would be better. They always talk about want do some measures to have less accident.
This would be for me a prime example to improve and do the signals like you told us you think how to drive there.

Then maybe this swiss person would have stopped (maybe).

Please let us all know when you are driving on the roads, we'll all stay indoors .

Don't want to run up your backside when you stop at the white line.

This should not happen, as you should always be able to break for something in the way!

I see you go with the flow, even it's wrong. The question is, is this the correct or the wrong behavior?
Doing something wrong, because everyone else is doing it as well (It seems this is the american way of doing so far I know).

He will (or he might) receive ban either way. Why airport is better? Just out of curiosity

If he leaves by Airport and has a flight ticket out, then he can fly out (in case he is early enough for paperwork and he has the 20'000 baht overstay fine).
If they catch him somewhere else, he comes into IDC detention, which then he have to spend some time, till his flight is arranged.

  5. Yes, they should be punished, as all who do something against the law!

But I have the feeling, that at the moment the punishment is not in correspondence with the crime.

At the moment if a foreigner do something against the rules, the punishment is mostly much to harsh.

It's a phenomenon, that newspaper like to print sad, or cruel stories, which are liked by the readers.

At the moment especially Phuket they like to read about foreigners who do something wrong.
Even here you always see a lot of comments, which is good for the website.

I would have been unusual in an 11 year old boy.

CDC states chances of a male catching HIV from an infected female is 1 in 2500.

So he'd need to have been banging her every day since he was 8 to have a 50% chance of infection.

Theoretical correct, but he also could had sex 1 time with a HIV female which could lead to become HIV as well.

a change of 0.04% still could be on the first contact or even not become after 10'000 contacts.

Rather harsh, surely just a fine would have been more appropriate?

The authorities had not yet clarified the penalty for the violation of this rule, but a Thai man faced five years in prison and a fine of up to 500,000 baht for driving on a beach in the southern province of Trang.

IF this fine with the Thai man is true, which I think is too much, then I want to know what will happen to this chinese tourists!

Interesting....  So all this time I thought I could buy any condo because I'm only buying the air space between the walls (the real estate definition of a condominium) and not any real property....  I came across this "Thai Embassy" site that looks like it's really a law firm's site that has a pretty good summary: https://www.thaiembassy.com/property/buying-a-condo-in-thailand

Actually, if you bought the condo, and it will be destroyed (for whatever reason) and they sell the land, you receive money according to your condo size. So you are also part owner of the land.

I'm sorry to keep dwelling on this, but something does not seem right.

    This link especially:

    https://bangkoklegal.com/bangkok-foreign-condo-ownership-condo-inheritance-laws-in-thailand/

Is seems to clearly say you have to be a Permanent resident, in order to not have to sell an inherited condo within one year.

Do I qualify for foreign ownership?

If you think you might inherit or have just inherited a condo, do you meet the criteria required for foreign ownership which is – do you hold a Permanent Residence permit under Section 19 (1) or do you reside in Thailand under the laws governing investment promotion under Section 19 (2)?

If registering the property under your name doesn’t exceed the foreign ownership of 49% and you qualify for foreign ownership, then there’s no problem going forward, and you will be permitted to keep the condominium.

However, if registering your condo ownership will cause foreign ownership in the entire condominium project to exceed 49% or if you don’t qualify for foreign ownership then you are not permitted to own the unit, under the law, and are required to dispose of the condo, within one year from the date you acquired it.

Another critical point to note – Even if the Thai-foreign ownership ratio is not exceeded but you don’t qualify for foreign ownership, then you are still required to dispose of it within one year from the acquisition date.

To qualify for foreign owership is, that the quota is not full yet (49%).
and that the property is build within the Thai condominium act. If it was build under the condo act, then every foreigner can buy a room in there as long the quota of 49% is not reached!

    Can you explain that please?

I guess he mean, when you are married to a Thai you can skip the permanent resident and go direct to a Thai passport (more or less same requirements).

IF you are not married the requirements for becoming a Thai passport (citizen) is more difficult than "only" becoming a permanent resident!

Anyway without working (paying taxes) both states are almost impossible.

It's a good idea after returning from abroad to whip into your Immigration office to tell them you have re-entered and are at the SAME address and they will re-set your 90 day cycle..... all good !

But only in some small offices.
if you want to do this in Bangkok (CW), then you spend only for this small "hello i'm back" half a day. (about 2 hours wait for the queue and drive to and back....

In Bangkok it's always recommended use some non physical method.

my best guess would be after comming from outside... do the first report by mail (for BKK). take some time, but at least this should work. and then the ones after you can do again online.

Another one missing the point. While we all know about the high rates of Farang Alchos who marry thai hookers hitting "his' woman, these incidents are about farangs attacking Thai women strangers because their frail egos were somehow hurt because of a barking dog in a dog cafe, sitting on some stairs, shopping in a supermarket or just resting in a stable.

Quite different to domestic spousal abuse.

I am wondering if you life really in Thailand and have some knowledge?

Why I read many stories about some Thai man attacking another person, because they did use the horn on the car, said something, done something the Thai man not liked?

I'm very sorry for you, that you have no knowledge, but Thai men are in fact very tempered men, they like to smile till one point the they can't smile anymore and then explode. Often this happens in the family as you told  (you seems to find it OK that thai men bash their wifes?).. as this sound from you post that bashing a family member is less aggresive than bash a stranger..

Both are bad habits. But stay in your bubble with your "thai male friends"!

  14. I think it would often help a lot already, if they would take parked cars next to the red/white serious.

I see a lot of cars parking everywhere. and stop for a short period many times in second row. Mean from the 3 lanes 1 lane is avalable to drive. If they would go against this parking, then many streets would be much easier to drive.

And this new rule... will probably not change much, as nobody there to take care of the rules.

Is this true? I filed online recently to claim withheld tax on bank interest but didn't upload any papers. Are we meant to?

You not have to upload the papers. But if you don't upload, then it could be the Revenue office will come back with the question to support your claims.

I always upload the documents, and I receive normaly the refund in about 5-6 days in my account.

Only the first time I not uploaded them, and I had a note in the system, to show evidence. Mean It took longer to receive the refund.

The paper not cost me anything, except run to the banks to receive the papers. Some banks you can receive the documents right away with a waiting time of a 10-15 minutes. Other banks they need like 5-6 days for producing the papers. But even this is not a big Issue.

I mostly go to the banks in begining of january to receive my documents, which I then can claim back the tax.

But people can make mistakes. All people, not only “dirty farangs”. And then ones do a “wai” move and they are free to go and others get their whole life turned upside down. If this is what they call “justice” - then I do not want nothing to do with it.
P?S. And the witch hunting has logically followed this blown out of any proportion scandal.

But it's the Thai way, that if you do a fast appology (wai) then already a big part of your problem is solved.

The swiss gone the opposite direction and instead of a sorry to the doctor in the begining, he threatend the girls, that he will take care that they have to go prison (as he thought he had the better connections), and he never will say sorry to them. He expect they had to sorry to him only.

Is this the right way with the wai and many problems are forgiven? No, but it's the Thai way!

Something in Thai is better than in my country, other things are worse than in my country.

At the end you have to check if Thailand is still the right country after you checked all the facts.

According to today's BangkokPost, his visa expires on March 13 and will therefore be extended until the trial against him, it will be interesting to see the court's decision. I assume it will be a quick decision this time because the matter has taken on too much political importance.

I heard something today, that his business visa (extension) will be canceled.

Watched the video, didn't see any kicks.

The fat guy was a bit rude, but he's probably fed up chasing drunk women off his property all the time.

Meanwhile the Thai university lecturer who deliberately ran me down in October, after I accidentally touched his pickup, breaking many of my bones and scarring my legs is unpunished despite the police tracing him and him admitting the attempted murder.

Yes you can't see a kick, but from the voice and the reaction I would argue it was a kick.

Anyway, even when the stairs would be correct build, this is not trespassing as they only sit on the border of his rented land.

I can understand, that it can be frustrating, when you always have people siting on your rented land. but when you have a plot near the beach, I think this is almost unavoidable.
