  1. Unfortunately at this time here in Thailand it's something you will have to live with. It can’t be much fun when you’re genuinely disabled.

As you will read in other posts often you’ll find that disabled bays are occupied by expensive cars.

Do you have Disabled Stickers on your front and rear screen. Just interested to know.

  2. "He said he touched down at the airport at 6.30pm and found several closed counters at the immigration checkpoint despite long lines there. He said he waited 30 minutes to pass through."

At the top of this post he is standing holding his taxi details issued to him at the Airport.

It clearly shows that the time of issue was 19:26. 54 minutes after he claims his plane touched down at 18:30.

To have alighted the aircraft, cleared immigration, collected his baggage, made his way to the taxi rank, waited in the queue and to be issued with his taxi details, all in 54 minutes. Not much to complain about, I would have thought.

The non use of the taxi meter is another issue altogether.

  3. Amazing how some people come from western societies that preach that a man walked on water, turned wine into water and came back to life after three days......Oh yes, let's not forget the Holy Ghost....... yet these same people rubbish Thai beliefs (or anyone else's that are different to their own). bah.gif

In more than one European country, I've seen people take a new car (for instance) to be blessed by the local priest.

So now tell me how European / Christian beliefs are so much better / more logical / less crazy than any others? coffee1.gif

    Excellent post, thank you.

  4. Installed the CTH satellite system last week. I would have preferred the Cable option but there is no Fibre Optic cable as yet where I live.

News channels include Channel news Asia, Fox News, Sky News International, Australia Network, NHK and France 24 all in English language. No CNN or BBC World also No PVR facility. Fox Sports Plus HD is 10 seconds behind True Visions Fox Sports Plus HD. The EPG is 1 hour ahead of Thai time; this is probably due to the feed being from Vinasat 2.

I am certainly not a fan of True Visions, but IMHO I have to admit they have got some things right.

  5. Beware you cant cross to Laos with the thai car.

I still can't believe that people spout such <deleted> about not being able to drive a car into Laos. Glad to see that some people have put this person right.

Not quite the language I would have used but I agree with your point of view. I 'm not sure why they reply to the OP when they have no knowledge of the subject.

    Again junglechef, enjoy your trip.

  6. I have been crossing the border to Laos by car for 15 years + with no major difficulties. One important factor to consider is that the insurance you buy at the border is only third party. I buy from the Allianz General Laos office and costs Baht 220 for 6 days cover.

    Enjoy your trip

  7. they lack accommodation and facilities to house hundreds of people during the Grand Prix

complete utter bullshit many hotels and resorts around and inside the towns

you must be delusional. name 1 world class resort or hotel in KK

Why do hotels have to be world class for F1. For those that sit on the pratt perch, yes they expect a high standared of accommodation but for the rest of the pitlane 4 star hotels are acceptable.

  8. Ok, I don't get it. Why spend a day on bus travel alone and what looks to be a 2000 baht expense when one can hop on a flight of 1 1/2 hours each segment for 4000- 5300 baht or so Round trip? Seriously, don't you think if someone has to take a bus to Phnom Penh from Bangkok to save 2000-4000 baht or so he/she really shouldn't be in Thailand?

I know some people have a fear of flying or have specific reasons for taking a bus, but for most people it's just a tedious waste of time. I take the bus now from Hua Hin to the airport in BKK and it works for me because it is better than a private car hire. However, taking a bus to Cambodia from Bangkok to save a few thousand baht is an inefficient use of time and pathetic.

No, I wouldn't think that someone taking this bus shouldn't be in Thailand. Who cares? What's it to you, really?

I think it's pathetic to think that everyone would think the exact same as you or be living in the exact same situation as you.

Perhaps a backpacker would take the bus, looking to save money wherever possible. Perhaps they are on a six month break and have all the time in the world.

Perhaps others like to save money, and wasting time will not bother them, as they have all the time in the world for whatever reason.

Seriously, man, take a chill pill, it's nothing to get excited over. Think about it a little.

    Who's getting excited then?

I question who should be taking a chill pill.

  9. It is not so much the music but the bass and it makes me physically ill. It is the sound of what a migraine is and i feel like wanting to vomit . If i am subjected to it long enough it will trigger off a migraine. I have walked out of places like Big C mid purchase when they shove the bass up on a system to demonstrate how bad the sound really is. And ,yes, Thailand is one of the worse places to be if you don't like bass.

Try living in the villages in Thailand...

    Music from 530am - 10pm, sometimes 12 on a regular basis!

I suffer from a noise problem near my home. I purchased a set of Bose QC 15 noise cancelling headphones which help to minimise the intrusion.
