  1. The American Thais in the U.S. and the ones which have settled in other western countries are not of the same mentality of the Thais living i

    Thailand.

Many of them that are students in the Universities in the west see the opportunies available to them in western countries and have no

desire to come back to their native country.

What on earth is there to come back to? No Rule of Law, Convicted Murderers being released on bail, Nepotism up and down the line, substandard pay. No hope for any future, coffee1.gif

i think you underestimate the pull of a good bowl of noodles

  2. yep, even as a smoker, i believe you deserved what you got.

The fact that the cop was smoking, and there were cigarettes on the ground are irrelevant unless the cop dropped his cigarette to write you the fine.

The fact that there were cigarette butts all over the ground is just an indicator that the law in that area should be strongly enforced.

If your logic is carried forward i can honestly say i am happy i don't have to share my favorite beach or hiking trail with you, one piece litter comes in to view and its open season to do same.

the fact that you didn't stand up for yourself and demand a receipt is a bonus in my estimation, though hardly justified.

If the law is applied equally I agree, but it's not. The guy was singled out purely because he's a falang and therefore easy pickings. If you want to see littering at it's grossest have a look around some of the back streets of Pattaya. The Thais will dump mountains of garbage on any available spare land rather than pay to have it taken to a city dump, they pour all kinds of toxic chemicals down storm drains and waterways. I see them throw down packaging outside a 7 eleven when there's a bin 2 metres away. You seem to be blaming all the rampant dumping of garbage in Thailand on one cigarette butt.

not sure where you got that, he littered, he got caught. he paid.

we are not talking about back streets of Pattaya, we are talking about one person who thinks he should be exempt from responsibility for his actions because everyone else is doing it -- which is exactly how the back streets of Pattaya ended up covered in shit.

The OP cant even claim ignorance or lack of education as his excuse, as lame as that is

  4. Your having a bad day eh. Please tell all. laugh.png

    And????

Not a particularly bad day, just a niggle with the proposed blocking of Hotmail and Yahoo accounts by TV. This has led tme to try and change my password and then change the email address. If the form does not work the way it is described, then what do you expect me to do?

And anyway, you must have an excessive amount of time on your hands to bother to post. I guess that's how you managed to post 12,454 posts over the last couple of years.

Very true, cool eh. But near a 1000 likes l must be doing something right eh.

A gmail account can be made in minutes. I have Yahoo and gmail for other stuff including Tv. thumbsup.gif

i would hardly be touting a like ratio of 1/12.4 and an indication of your extreme popularity.

  5. i personally cant imagine Bangkok without the convenience of taxis.

certainly there are problem spots, but these are easily recoginzed and avoided.

i have a friend with a condo near the sathorn/narathiwat intersection.

if i say Narathiwat it is a no go. If i say Sathorn, no problem.

i would much rather grab a taxi in Bangkok at 6 pm than in Singapore

not sure, if a 50something swiss banker would make such a mistake?

to me it sounds also a bit very "blethering"...

...and, why was his wife not there?

it appears strange, that people wake up in the morning, and stab themselves, first thing...

whats wrong with his usage of are?

Present tense in the first part of the sentence, so it is logical to continue with present tense in the second part.

that makes no sense. by(e) was misspelled. the sentence is correct but for the typo.

  7. I have the Apacer AL460. Plays everything and will do wifi.

On sale now at Tesco-Lotus for Bt. 2800.

AL670, plays (most) everything and has toslink (spdif) out to connect to home theater for 6ch (5.1) DTS and DD audio

  8. Get a good helmet. Gloves and a decent protective mesh jacket.

Some may say over the top for a scooter. But hey 90kmh is the same scooter or big bike.

    Any long distance. Wear protection.

This company is in China town Bkk. Decent stuff at a low cost.

    i disagree.

especially when you hit a crosswind or get buffeted by passing trucks.

and you dont have the headroom to hit the throttle and get out of the way if needed.

i did bkk/kan years back on a 2 stroke nsr 150r, and it was exhausting.

i recall one point on the road at about 110 where a powerline crossed the highway and there were on trees just a wind corridor. the bike crossed one lane of traffic of its own volition. if something had been steaming up that lane behind me, or i had been in the center lane, i would have been roadkill.

scared the crap out of me.

but, as they say,up to you

id whack the bike onto a train if i had to have it or just rent something there personally.

I'm confused. You disagree that wearing protection on a long run. Series of long runs is a bad idea? Or You disagree that 90kmh is the same speed on a small bike or big bike?

    My point was wear protection.

    sorry misread it.

  9. Out of curiosity how did you find the CAT mifi, ?? ..... the guys at CAT told me they were not much good, (sometime ago) then they stopped selling them.

Is Huawei mifi SIM card inter-changable?

the CAT Mifi was brilliant. 5 devices, never once had a problem, if the power went out you still had internet for a few hours depending on usage as it had its own battery.

yes the huawei is card interchangeable.

The story that I heard was that they stopped selling them because of overheating problems with the rechargeable batteries??? Melted bits (ooouch).

never had an issue, and its on 24/7

  11. jimmy, thanks, i guess ill just have to wait and see, i really dont want to go true though. they have enough of a strangle hold on my life already.

    resistance is futile

Yep I know, but I switched to Astro TV two years ago, so TRUE don't get my money for Telly. wink.png

I think it maybe a case of having a dongle with interchangable sim, and not locked to True, there was a link to that idea in one of the posts i made.

I am not sure where people on KP would find, the only shop i have seen dongles on Samui, is JIB computers... and trying to get the right info is hard to understand!

The other problem my friend pointed out this afternoon, is they may be a shortage of new suitable dongles .... that would be the end off the world as we know it! biggrin.png w00t.gif

i would buy in bangkok and just bring it down with me. The Huawei mifi is what im after, a 3g router and wireless access point to replace the novatel mifi cdma wireless access point they have so cruelly rendered obsolete.

Not sure my bouncing tits would make it to BKK... biggrin.pngwhistling.gif

  12. I think it's disgusting that the supposed protectors of the innocent can flaunt their corruption so blatantly. I've never heard anything so outrageous. I mean, what other country in the world would actually officially produce such a thing as a card to pay illegal bribes. I truly weep for Thailand. I truly do.

The gullibility of the few is far outweighed by the amusement of the many.

the problem is that many of "the many" require the satire tag to distinguish satire. without it the bite rate would be well over 50%.

the excessive use of smileys in posts has led to a general inability of people to read and interpret what they see on their own.
