  1. Spoke to a wine rep the other day and she pointed out that the stock now selling is still at the old cost. You won't see any price cuts till new stock shows up. Give it a couple of months and it will come down for competitive reasons.
  2. I would wait till I've been granted the new marriage visa. Don't be caught without the money in the bank from the regular retirement visa. The process isn't a slam dunk. There were several times during the process when I thought of throwing in the towel with frustration. Thanks for that brilliant input.
  3. Thai Airways still owes me 45k from canceled flights during covid. My travel vouchers are expiring in 24. What's the chances I get anything out of them? They said they were going to pay. Communication about the status of this with the airline is useless. I can just use what they owe me and fly somewhere...till the end of the year.
  4. We're not getting 15 million Chinese wandering obliviously?
  5. It's only for a few months, mate. The interview process is intense. The wife should be able to do all the talking. Have everything ready down to the last detail.
  6. You have to assume any Nigerian here is scamming something. I suppose there are a few here legitimately that will have to suffer for their ridiculously bad reputation but screw em. If they're here, they're pulling something.
  7. Thank you. That was what I asked. (sighs) Laughs, this got pretty funny. Some people... This was Phuket which is always harder and more complicated. At the same time I was doing the marriage visa thing, I also had a new passport I had to get the stamps switched to and a 90 day report was due. This was a three day highly frustrating process. Partially my fault because the requirement checklist was from the previous year and it had gotten increasingly onerous. My wife did 95% of the talking. I would have thrown in the towel early if it hadn't been for her. We did it. Or at least we think we did. We pick up the approval tomorrow or whatever it is.
  8. Getting a retirement visa is a piece of cake compared to that terrible marriage visa experience. We did it in the end, but that was ridiculous. Two complete sets of paperwork? Ridiculous requirements for multiple pics of us in our home? I'm surprised they didn't want pics of us in bed. Just endless paperwork hoops they make you jump through. My question is what happens next year? Does this get any easier in the second year? Will they require everything all over again? Thanks.
  9. I hope the Chinese invasion is over. Now, if we could just ship all the Ruskies home...
  10. I proudly got my 5th shot a couple of weeks ago. Keep your shots up to date to minimize the effects of Covid. Friend of mine had a very bad case of covid that lasted two weeks. It's still around and can kill you.
  11. We're spending September in Samui with the better weather here in the Gulf than Phuket. We took a week to get here through Koh Lanta, Nakon Si Tamarak and Khanom Beach. We were the only ones in two of the hotels. Restaurants are empty. I get it's low season but Ko Samui is less than half full. Last year no one was here but I'm surprised that there are so few tourists around. How they going to reach their 30 million tourists goals?
  12. Complete waste of money. Let's work on somehow making LOS into something more than the most dangerous place to drive in the world? How about a 30 mile bridge to Koh Samui? Spaceports, tsk...
  13. The BIB are not equipped or trained for traffic law enforcement and that will not be changing any time soon. Culturally, the police have little respect. Half the people don't even have driver's licenses. If a license is suspended the person will continue to drivewith only small fines. Children regularly drive and drive dangerously fast. Between the police not enforcing laws and the people not caring about the laws, you get the most dangerous place to drive in the world. Nothing is going to change. TIT.
  14. I was in the same situation. They gave me a 10 month extension instead of a year, to when the passport was to expire. Unless someone advises differently, my plan is to wait on the transfer till when I need to get the Visa renewed in October. In other words, I don't think I have to run down to Immigration and get this transferred over now. I'll bring in both passports and get it all done at the same time.
  15. It took a couple of months to get my new US passport. I know I should get the old visa stamp transferred over to it but can I just wait till it needs to be renewed in October? What are the rules about this? Thanks
  16. I don't see any hostility between Russians and Ukrainians. They speak the same language and seem to get along. Most of the Russians here don't like Putin.
  17. I did, no problem. It's just that line should have a red asterisk like the rest of the required info. It was approved in less than 24 hours. Thanks for pointing out what I'm talking about here.
  18. I print out a copy of the TM47 application for reference, but again there is no line for Visa Expiry Date on the form. This time I wrote in big letters ENTER VISA EXPIRY DATE on my copy so I won't forget.
  19. For the second time in a row, my 90 Day TM-47 report was rejected yesterday. Now, my previous report had been rejected 90 days before, but for the life of me I couldn't remember why. I had carefully filled out the form online, studied it over and over again, where did I screw up? Could not see an issue and submitted it. Rejected for the same stupid reason as last time, according to the rejection email...Insert Visa Expiry Date. This is so stupid. The form puts little red stars next to information that is required for approval. It's easy! Here is where the problem is, next to the line where you need to enter that information, there is no red star! It appears that it's not required. Also, on the actual copy of the form that you can print out after submitting it, there is no line for Visa Expiry Date! Fortunately, all you need to do is reapply. They're doing a good job of responding quickly to applications. Mine is always approved (or rejected, errr) the next day. But, am I the only idiot that gets tripped it by this nonsense? And how are you going to point out the issue to Immigration? So here is me whinging about my ongoing stupidity and their incompetence. ????
  20. You still see the support for the indefensible on this thread. Putin needs to be taken out, the sooner the better.
  21. I've always been a fan of the guy. Let's remember that he stepped in after that useless numbskull Yingluck had driven the Thai government into anarchy. When Prayut took over, as far as I could see, everything got better. The blatant corruption suddenly improved. The commonplace bribery at every level of government was no longer tolerated. Phuket, where I live, was a cesspool. The sell off of Surin Beach was completely dismantled. The beaches were turned back into beaches. I didn't have to bribe the people at immigration to get a simple visa stamp for example. I will always believe Prayut was the best thing that ever happened to LOS. Any new government will have a lot to live up to and frankly I'm expecting a return of corruption without the military to backup the government.
  22. For Buddha's sake... couldn't they have gone with "Wound to the Groin"? Jeesh
