Left on 25th
Currently in Istanbul
Love it
I think this is a blessing in disguise.
Not returning to Thailand anytime soon. They lost me and my money
Plenty of countries without xenophobia.
I’m in Turkey too, but down on the coast.
How did you go about finding a long term apartment rental?
I agree everything is better than Thailand apart from the ability to walk into a building and rent a room.

They were alway so going to extend the amnesty after 26th.
Good luck to everyone.
I’m going to drown my sorrows in magic truffles in Amsterdam.

Easy. This is the best bus service(Full recline, Food, and Wifi) ==> https://www2.nakhonchaiair.com/view/
Why BK? You can't extend in CM?Airport.

Yeah, just wasn't sure because of coronavirus.
In the past there were millions of options between CM and BKK daily.
I don't even know if social distancing is still in play.

Does anyone know if it's easy to catch buses to Bangkok? (I'm in Chiang Mai)
I'll book a flight and travel down to Bangkok if the cabinet don't talk about amnesty tomorrow.

I cant see anything other than an amnesty extension.
Maybe it will be like the first one and won't come until after amnesty ends.
If immigration are going to give continual under consideration stamps so everyone has to visit immigration 2x monthly they'll soon get sick of it.

Lucky you - haven't heard back from them since last Friday (8 days ago), after an initial response asking for my documentary evidence (which I sent all of, and even more). Have sent follow-up emails every other day but no response. Will have to call on Monday and really push them now..
Does September weekend back home mean holiday?

That is the plan, but I don't know if they'll give me a new one.
I might only have the old one to use.

I've already been told immigration won't accept a March embassy letter for 30 day extension, but if I use one to apply for an extension that's rejected will they still give me an extra 7 day stamp to leave the country?
It would give me an extra 7 day leeway with booking flights.
I've applied for a new one but been asked for supporting docs so no idea if I'll get one. An extra 7 days would still be nice to give me more planning time even if I don't get 30 days.
Cheers

Did everyone receive a notification email?
I used the new FCDO email and haven't got one.

Why are there 2 emails?
Does anyone know the correct one for letters that everyone agrees on?
Cheers

I'm sure that immigration officer is desperate for the amnesty to be extended.
They've already cashed in with everyone paying agents for long term visas.
If they have to deal with embassy letters every month they'll be swamped.
Better to recommend extending the amnesty so they can chill out for the rest of the year.

I think people on tourist visas should really ponder whether or not they want to live month to month on 30 day extensions. How can you possibly live life when it's on pause?
If they don't extend the amnesty by the middle of the month there are plenty of cool countries open and you can get everything back up and running again.

Funny that.
Didn't see you posting when retirement visa folks were acting all high and mighty towards backpackers and their tourist visas. Over 50 are we???
I'm not sure what you mean. I'm under 40.

I think it's because they are the group perceived as most likely to eventually run out of money. There are enough local people already in need of food and money and people don't want people - that have better options - to benefit from what has been created to help the people who don't have a choice. We have several foreigners here just living off the free food that is already spare and supposed to be for people who have no other choice. Yes there might be that 1% that has legit reasons on why they have no other choice but the vast majority of them do, they just don't 'want' to leave.
Another problem that bothers me personally with some people is the audacity to expect the Thai government to solve their problems. It took thaivisa one day after the last amnesty extension to make the next thread about the next extension. Like, those people don't even take responsibility for a second. They just want someone else to solve their problem. And don't get me wrong, I get hoping for it, what I don't get is the expectation, because it is the expectation that makes them getting frustrated and angry if it doesn't get met.
I don't think any hate goes towards tourists who are still supporting the economy by being here. The hate goes towards people who don't have their sh*t together, have alternatives and are ballast for an already weakened system with spare resources. Lets face it - at this point - the vast majority of people who still have a valid reason to stay here (work, family, education, tourist/having/spending money) should have figured out a solution already. If you don't, YOU f*cked up and YOU should take responsibility for your own mistakes. Not the Thai government and not charity organisations and their donors. You don't learn by getting taken care of all the time, you learn and grow by f*cking up and making mistakes, and that's all I want. I want people to grow and not be stagnant and feeling entitled to being taken care of no matter what, because thats where I think a lot of the toxicity and grumpiness is coming from.
I personally think most tourists still here are able to live month to month.
Obviously if they have zero money they shouldn't expect the Thai government to look after them.
But these are special times and nearly every government is allowing people to stay longer if they can afford monthly expenses.

Thailand is the only country I know where expats are so divided.
Why is everyone picking on people with tourist visas saying they're the only ones who should leave?
What about those with a Thai family? Should they not leave with their family?
Should they be rewarded because their pull out game is weak?
Everyone should stick together.
Well done to the German, I hope he has convinced the PM to extend amnesty.

What did he say?
He said foreign tourists were essential to the economy and businesses are on the verge of collapse if they're kept out any longer.
It doesn't make sense for him not to extend the amnesty because it can only help (not hurt).

Alot of people have not lived in there home country for years, why should they have to go back?id say that there will be an extension of some sort , probably a paid one .no other country has told People to leave, a few have threatened it but done a last minute U-turn.????????all will end well????
There will be an extenstion to the amnesty.
After what the PM said today he obviously thinks the exact opposite of immigration.

I don’t think there are many Airbnb’s here.
I’m going to send some messages on a Turkish rental website hoping some people speak English, or I’ll just go down the agent route in a few days.
