  1. You can apply up to 45 days before. If you are really worried, why not call in to your immigration office and get the answer directly from them.
  2. Put the gear into "P". Remove the key and depress the small button at the top right of the gear console, whilst putting the gear lever into neutral.
  3. As you say.....it is just a guess. Who really knows the reason for them asking. If people answer by inflating their income to immigration, it will be counterproductive, if indeed your guess is correct. It will give them a reason to consider increasing fees or financial qualifications for extensions.
  4. All this rumour mongering is easily confirmed or denied by contacting immigration.
  5. Don't forget to take proof of address in English with your name on. You can use driving licence or a utility bill. I used my dtac bill, which I downloaded from my account. Copy whichever one you need. I did both just in case. As someone said, Thai debit cards sometimes get refused because payment is taken at the passport renewal office, outside of Thailand. To be doubly safe, if you use a Thai debit card, visit your bank and ensure that international payments is enabled on your account. It actually happened to my neighbour.
  6. I wasn't talking about using debit cards in my home country. I was asking how it was possible to use a NZ wise registered debit card in Thailand. But thank you for clarifying.
  7. How can you possibly use a card issued for use and registered in NZ and then use it in Thailand, where it isn't authorised?
  8. Still waiting for wise to provide a card for Thailand. They don't seem to be in a hurry to do so.
  9. Wow! 6 months ago. I used it last month and it defaulted to the usual bank transfer. Hence my post after yesterday's transfer, when I noticed the fee increase.
  10. It seems that a mod has already moved this to a general finance forum.
  11. Good point. My post was merely to point out the subtle change.
  12. Thank you for confirming what someone else contradicted.
  13. If it hadn't changed, I would not have posted the information.
  14. Some of you may be aware of the information in my post and some of you may already know. This is for the the unaware. I made a transfer yesterday of GBP to Thai baht. On the opening page, I noticed that the fees were almost 60% higher than normal. My previous transfers always defaulted on the opening page, to transfer from bank. Yesterday I looked to the right and it stated " Fast and easy transfer", with a drop down box. This allowed me to change to bank transfer and the fees changed to a lower figure. I hope this helps some of you. Regards.
  15. Is this required for Children or Adults?
  16. This is based on 2019 pre covid. It is possible with the influx of more foreigners from different countries, the number now is far above the 300000. Or maybe you are only considering those who are western. But nonetheless, the extra influx of people still contribute to the country and its GDP. Which is what Mike Lister mentioned in one of his posts, regarding GDP. But even so, even back in 2019, I would have thought the number to be higher. Quite surprising.
  17. I did reply just now, but my post has vanished. Maybe a senior moment on my part😀
  18. I would be interested to know where you get the figures of 300,000 westerners residing in Thailand.
  19. I read those criticisms as well. But I focused on the positive reviews. There are always two sides to reviews. And anyway, that was last year. I posted this to let people know that the service was excellent.
  20. @Isan FarangJust a couple of tips that you may or not be aware of: 1. Make sure that the document you provide with proof of address shows exactly the same address as your home address in Thailand. 2. If you are using a Thai debit/ credit card to pay, make sure that it is authorised by the bank for overseas payments. Payments are debited in UK. My neighbour had his payment declined by the bank and was informed by VFS. Fortunately he visited VFS to resubmit payment, after speaking with the bank to authorise payment, and all was well in the end.
  21. Understood. I was extremely surprised to get the phone call after 9 days of submission. I had been told it would take 3/4 weeks.
