World Bank said Thailand is in a significant plastic waste crisis
Caspersfriend replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The reduction of plastic waste by banning plastic bags [in big stores only] has been blown out of the water [pun intended] by the 'new normal' of home deliveries: Like many others we get most of our shopping delivered, and the amount of packaging is sometimes off the scale. The big stores are little different as they usually arrive just as you would buy in the store but Lazada and Shopee [for example] generate masses of cardboard and plastic. The pic is a small example when food items are delivered, this was for cans of tomatoes, if products are in glass jars even moreso. -

Why Chinese electric cars are causing a buzz in Thailand
Caspersfriend replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not the best of reviews. You can bet that a significant number of potential buyers think MGs are still made in Abingdon .. their ancestral home just outside Oxford, England. -
OP: Methinks that this "cold" that you feel is a combination of the inevitable onset of Winter, compounded by the equally inevitable blanket of Communism.

Chinese tourists to return to Thailand - but not until late 2022

China doesn't have a great medal-winning history at the Winter games. Bets on whether that will change in 2022? -
Is that the universe or Universe? Whichever, could be a new topic for discussion.

Do you believe its Cod and why
Caspersfriend replied to Mac Mickmanus's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
My mistake, I should have said 'deep frozen'. The fish for the local market is mostly just kept on ice. As mentioned in another post, some for the retail market is vacuum packed -
Large money transfer.

I was merely clarifying the current situation for the OP's benefit. In response to your comments: "The UK branch is for commercial accounts only - they do not handle retail banking. Saying that you used to be able ........." I set up the arrangement directly with the London branch. Obviously had to give them my Thailand account number for the transfer. How it is set up in the London branch I wouldn't know; or recall as it was some years ago. They act as a portal. I find it a convenient system and, from posts on previous topics, I believe I am not alone in that. -

I have had a personal [retail] account with the London branch of Bangkok Bank for many years. They provide you with a user-code and you transfer from your bank to them in GBP. The funds are available in the Thai branch next working day. If you have an FCD account it is transferred in GBP and you get to control the exchange rate when you transfer to THB. -
Very good movie, as is the sequel 'The Girl in the Spider's Web'

Maybe they've realised that now as I tried on both PC and phone and it takes you straight to the video -
The only vaccine Leiden University [specifically "Anna Roukens, an internist and infectious disease specialist at LUMC"] appear to be using in this, so far very limited, study is Moderna [mRNA type] Whereas the university was significantly involved in the development of the J&J Janssen [virus vector type]. Therefore it's a s t r e t c h [to put it mildly] for Thailand to use this very limited study, on one type of vaccine, as a justification to use the subcutaneous procedure for all types of vaccine. As they appear to be suggesting. No wonder the responsibility is being offloaded: https://www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/news/2021/04/injection-via-the-skin-could-allow-us-to-vaccinate-up-to-five-times-more-people-from-the-same-supplies

Do you believe its Cod and why
Caspersfriend replied to Mac Mickmanus's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Ah, yeah but no but. Indeed, the 'mushy' effect depends on how long its been frozen and at what temperature. Most cod fish caught at sea are gutted and frozen on the trawler; for North Sea fish that's not deep frozen. When they arrive at the dock those will usually go straight into auction. 'Proper' fish n chip shops in the UK get/go get their fish on a Monday, which is why many are closed on a Monday, and put them in the fridge to thaw. If they know what their market is they will use all those fish within a week. It's only the deep frozen fish that spend a while in storage, or transport, that go mushy. -

In the off-chance that the OP wasn't simply angling for a laugh-in. Cod that goes from sea to table without freezing has a very defined flaky texture. When frozen, ice crystals develop in the flesh, when thawed that makes the fish mushy. In the picture posted the flesh is definitely mushy. Which doesn't answer the question. A price of 60Baht does. -
