If you mean local stations in Thailand broadcasting in English: in Bangkok I know only MCOT 88 FM, which has good music, but very poor news (mainly government propaganda). 30 years ago there were 3 good English language stations on the FM band in Bangkok, but of course no internet radio. In Pattaya I know of 2 English language stations, both playing quite good music most of the time, but it really depends on the program host: 96 FM or online on pattayapeople.com and Fabulous 103 on 103 FM or online on alwayspattaya.com The latter station also broadcasts BBC news on the full hour (longer at 7 and 8 AM) and local Pattaya and national news in English on the half hour.

bg53 is right, there are no fees for digital transfers in the eurozone for example, but some banks charge their customers monthly just for having an account with them, some charge a fee if you have a total engagement below a certain amount, and some banks in my country charge a fee to customers if they live abroad. At the same time many banks make huge profits.

The car must pass the technical inspection beforehand, and that can be done in many places. I have used the online system since it became available. In the past it took a bit longer, maybe 1 or 2 days, but Immigration updated their system some months ago, and since then it has become much faster. I disagree that it is ‘inept’, it works fine for some of us. I only had a problem with the online reporting system once, when I had entered my address incorrectly, so that application was rejected. After entering the address correctly and making sure that it was fully in accordance with the records on file with Immigration, it was approved in no time. I suggest that you apply for a 10 year LTR, then you need only to report once a year ????

I did my latest 90 days online report on 2. February 2023. 21 minutes later I received an email that it was approved.

I could pay from my Bangkok Bank account but not from my SCB account.

It is ridiculous to put the lighted 90 km/h signs that are often followed immediately by a fixed 120 km/h sign. I am also not sure if they are just advisory or not, and nobody has been able to clarify it. In any case, so far I have only been fined on motorway 7 if I went over 120 km/h. There are many new camera locations on that motorway.

It will surely add to the bad traffic problems in that area. It already became bad enough when EMQuartier opened

I did my last 90 days report on Saturday last week (12. March 2022), and it was approved on the following day (Sunday 13. March 2022). My recent reports have all been approved either later the same day or the next day. The receipt does not mention which office approved it, but I use Jomthien for my extensions.

I recommend that you check (or have your removal company do it) the rules and customs duties for importing HH goods and personal belongings with a serious international removal company in Thailand before deciding. Electronic goods and household machines of good quality is available in Bangkok (e.g. Power Buy, HomePro, Emporium, etc.), quality foreign made furniture too, but it takes some searching to find good furniture. Because of the worldwide covid shipping crisis some items may not be available at the moment. For example, I could not find something as simple as ink cartridges for my HP printer, and there were virtually no new printers for sale in the shops recently, but that will hopefully change in the not too distant future.

On 27.9.2021 I was notified by sms by one of the banks I use in Thailand (at their head office in Silom Road) that a transaction of over 4,500 Baht was made at 03:40 that day on my debit / ATM card with a company named ‘RAPPI BANORTE’. My account with this bank is mainly idle, save for a few online internal transfers to my wife’s bank account with the same bank. I have not used the card for any online purchases, ATM withdrawals or in-store purchases for almost 4 years. The only online purchase I made 4 years ago was with a very reputable coffee capsule vendor. I still make orders with them on a monthly basis, but with a debit card from another bank. I have never made any transactions abroad with the card, nor have I communicated any details to anybody. The card was kept in in a securely locked cabinet in my bedroom at all times for the last 4 years. I had never heard of the company, but a quick internet search showed that ‘RAPPI BANORTE’ is an online delivery company in Mexico (like Lazada and others in Thailand). When cancelling the card by telephone with the bank’s customer service, I was informed that I should also report the fraudulent use to the police and send the bank a copy of the report. I handed in the police report in one of the bank’s branches in another province, and the branch manager offered her profuse apologies for the incident. A few hours later the money was returned to my account in full. I really hope that they can find the perpetrators and the source of this scam and get (at least part of) the money back, because in the end we, the banks’ customers, will pay for the loss they have incurred through the fees we are charged.

You may loose the warranty (if the car still has one), if you don’t have the car serviced at an authorized garage. In Thailand all official MB workshops are connected to a central MB data base, where they can see if the car has been regularly and properly serviced by an authorized workshop. The official garage also has a computer to check if the engine, exhaust and electronic systems are functioning properly, and if needed they will recommend preventive maintenance. Non-authorized garages may not have that. If I spend that much money on a good car, I can and will also spend the money needed to have it properly serviced. The exception to that is the replacement batteries for the key fob. MB once charged me 1,500 Baht for a set of two, but at 7-11 I can buy the exact same batteries for 35 Baht a piece. However, at 7-11 the package does not have the same prestigious brand logo as it has from the MB workshop ????

Yes, in Denmark. Many people, especially in nursing homes and medical staff, initially had an AZ shot, but in April 2021 the Danish authorities stopped using AZ in the national vaccination program, and those people had a second shot with Pfizer. Be aware though that some countries do not accept cross vaccination, but insist that travelers, who want to enter the countries, are vaccinated with two shots of the same vaccine. (Obviously this does not apply to persons vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson, which was also dropped in the Danish vaccination program at the same time as AZ).

I am very willing to help, and I have the same rare blood group as Peter (B-), so I contacted the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya to see if they could help send the blood to Phuket, if I donated blood with them. Hm, interesting. Why then does Thailand refuse to issue COEs to cross vaccinated applicants abroad (AZ and Pfizer), and insist that they have to have two doses of the same type or brand of vaccine? It happened in Denmark according to recent reliable media reports.

If you have a housekeeper you could ask her or alternatively the guards or cleaners in your ‘moo baan’ to pick it up. They will be very happy to remove it for you, and they can make a little extra cash out of it.
