The stamp is signed by a General Service Officer Experienced LevelĀ of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ThailandĀ and is Certifying it is the Genuine Signature of and then the name has been inserted (thinking this will be signature of whoever has signed the document on the other side). All written in English.

Both Certificates issued in Hong Kong however wife has a Philippine passport and daughter a British passport. The official at jomtien gave me a bit of paper with the address of the Department of Consular Affairs and a copy of the stamp he was wanting. He also said this was a new requirement this year and only needed a once only endorsement.

I got my retirement extension of stay last week at Jomtien Immigration. Went down today with wife and daughter to get there's and although been okay in the past had some difficulty today.
The problem seems to be we have a foreign marriage certificate and birth certificate which now needs some stamp on the back from the Department of Consular Affairs in Bangkok. Fortunately we are going up to Bangkok next week so hopefully will get the required stamp then.
If anybody else has had to do this would be grateful if you could give me a 'heads-up' on what documents etc. I will need to take to the Department of Consular Affairs.
Cheers

Reference the 90-day reporting I have a retirement extension with a multi re-entry permit. I re-entered Thailand on the 18th April and according to my calculations my 90-day report should be on 17th July. I will be leaving Thailand again on the 22nd July. Do I still need to do the 90-day report or will I get away with it as I'll be leaving within the 7-day grace period?

Apologies for my earlier post - I have just re-read the letter from the Pension Office and the changes do not come into force until 6th April 2016.
-
I paid voluntary contributions (class 3) for over 20 years and stopped paying when I had the 30 qualifying years. I had heard about the changes in the new state pension when I was back in the UK over Christmas so wrote to the pension office in Newcastle to find out if I needed to 'top-up' to be eligible for the full state pension. As of today (6th April) you only need 10 qualifying years to receive a state pension but it will not be a full state pension. To get the full amount you need 35 qualifying years.
You can buy back from previous years if you missed a payment however there is a time limit. Interesting they informed me that since 2000 it was cheaper to pay class 2 contributions however you have to be eligible. When I first started paying the class 3 contributions it was 200-300 GBP a year - for the year 2013-2014 it is now 700 GBP so I will look into if I am eligible for the class 2 contributions.
Suggest you look at the Government website and write them a letter to know your exact position (and remember that living in Thailand is one of the countries that you do not receive an increment every year).

This is exactly what happened to me one year ago in Hong Kong. Ended up with non-OA whilst wife and daughter got 90-day non-O. Has caused me lots of problems. Will not do border run to extend visa for one more year and will let it expire. Will go down to Penang to get my 90-day non-O and then hopefully will get all the family on the extension of stay etc. later.
-
Best place/easiest place to go for non-O in the region when travelling with a family?
Thanks for your prompt replies.

If daughter gets Ed visa and I set up bank account for wife would the wife be able to get extension as guardian on 30 day tourist visa or will she need to apply for non-O outside Thailand?
-
Was intending to get Non-O for myself, wife and daughter then get retirement extension with wife and daughter piggy backing my visa as dependants. Unfortunately was told in home country to apply for non-OA and get non-O for wife and daughter. Now I'm down here informed by immigration can not get extension for wife and daughter.
Daughter at international school and wife from the Philippines under 50. Can I get ED visa for daughter and wife can get visa as guardian? do we need to leave Thailand to get these or can I get tourist visa and get an extension? will money have to be left in bank in wifes name and how much and for how long?
Informed by immigration that quick border run for myself and only getting 14 day stamp on return I could then apply for extension myself etc. etc. Just wasted 9hrs today on said border run and could not get 14 day stamp even after pleading (stamped in for one more year).
Wife and daughter non-O visa expire in 6 days and desperate for any suggestions.

Thanks for the quick reply. As mentioned before she only had it removed a couple of years ago and her levels were going up and down - her fault really as she likes seafood too much. Her prescriptions have varied between 50gr to 100gr with different dosage on even and odd days - very troublesome when she forgets to take it and also having to split the very small pills into two for the varying dosages. Seems to be settling down a bit better now so hopefully she wont have to make so many trips to get her blood checked.
-
Will be moving to Pattaya next month. The problem is my wife had her thyroid removed a couple of years ago and at present needs to have check-up on her blood every 4-6 months to determine what level of thyroxine she needs to take on a daily basis.
Would be grateful if anyone could direct me to a suitable Doctor/Clinic/Hospital in Pattaya where this can be done on a regular basis.
Thanks in advance.

Alright I lied aboot the dug but if he'd had a cat....
With a name like 'smokie' thought you would have been from somewhere further north up the coastline!!!!!!
When I used to work in a bar I also had the problem of people banging on the door at 11am. These were the most desperate, deprived people I have ever known - Golf caddies!!!

^how do the land office know you are married???
Maybe it's a form like the one a Farang has to sign to say that the property is 100% the wife's and he has no interest in it?
Only the other way round in this case?
I bought off-plan from a big well known Thai company. When I signed the contract no mention was made if I was married which at that time I wasn't. It was only by the time of the transfer (when I had already paid all the installments) that they asked for a copy of my wifes passport and then they presented the form for my wife to sign. Can not remember the whole wording of the form and was not given a copy but remember it basically said the she, my wife, gave consent for me to purchase the Condo.
As said before all other transactions were made in my name.
-
When I purchased my Condo (in foreign quota) over a year ago, during the Transfer I was given a form (do not remember if it was a government form or one from the development company) for my wife (not Thai) to sign, basically giving her permission for me to make the purchase. All the transfer of money etc. and name in all other documents was in my name. My question is, is/was this a normal document that ones spouse has to sign when buying/selling property in Thailand and will I need my wifes permission to sell the condo in the future?
Main reason I am asking, is their some law in Thailand that specifically states that if someone dies, any property must be left to the surviving spouse. I'm in the process of writing a will and was wondering if I would have any problem in leaving my Condo to someone other than my wife?

Bit disappointed - I thought this story was going to be about amputees!!!!!!!!

Would be grateful if someone could edify me on how the dates for Songkran are decided - is it based on a Lunar Cycle like the Chinese New Year or is their a specific Budhist calendar (is Songkran a Budhist festival)?
Can someone also explain why the "main" day seems to be celebrated on different days around the country. Noticed in the Pattaya forum the main day would be 18th/19th and a bit worried as I'll be arriving on the 20th and hope to avoid most of the festivities/mayhem.

A lot of Americans actually like Budweiser beer! But to say Bud is a great beer should be a public hanging offense. The Brits make great beer. The Scots, great whiskey, but you have to give the title of great food to the French.
Appologies for being pedantic, and off topic - America and Ireland might make great whiskey, but the Scots make even better whisky.

Pattaya Tai between 2nd rd and Beach Road. Heading towards 2nd rd on the right hand side up near the traffic lights. Simple hair cut 80 Baht - open 9AM. Always have to stop them from trimming my eye-brows. More of a classic Barber Shop, offering shave, ear and nose hair trimming etc.

Looks like the price for a quiet life is 5 baht of gold!!!!!

Also interseted to know if other G/F or wives in Pattaya. I hope to retire to Pattaya in 2-3 years time. Me and the wife (Filipno) get over to Pattaya 3-4 times a year for holidays. She likes the place and loves the food and shopping, however I'm also concerned she might get a bit lonely staying there full-time.
For your info there's a Filipino band plays at the Moon River Pub and if she's looking for some Filipino food you can try the New Orleans Restaurant (think thats the name) on Soi Pattayaland on the corner going into Boys Town - they don't have a filipino menu but the staff in the kitchen are from the Philippines and can prepare some food on request.
Hope this helps.

Walking along 2nd road in Pattaya one day something fell on me. Brushed it off, and when it was on the ground realised it was a snake!!!!! (very small). While I was trying to regain some composure and not look like a crazy farang jumping up and down in histerics it quickly slithered away into the bushes. My first reaction was it must have been thrown on me by some local youths looking for some amusement. Looked around but could not see anyone in fits of laughter. My only conclusion was it must have fallen out of the tree that I was passing - is this possible?

Money must always be in a cash deposit account that can be withdrawn at any time - normally this is passbook savings and time savings (where only interest would be lost in early withdrawal) in Thai banks.
Many thanks for the reply. Will see how it works out later on.

Unit trusts can be converted to cash at any time. They would also appear in the monthly statement in THB in the 'Total Relationship ' balance would that be ok?
