It's striking how the idea that there are too many people in the world has established itself in the collective mind. How about abolishing the IMF and accords such as the Treaty of Lisbon, which force States to borrow their money from private capital markets with interest, and use the billions thus saved to develop infrastructure and implement natalist policies?
Wait...are you saying that there are NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE IN THE WORLD...?!!
There are more than 20 Cannabis dispensaries in my neighborhood,
but I don't think ANYBODY is smoking the '<deleted>e' that you are smoking...!

"This article is very misleading. There may be a crisis but it does not appear to be a fertility crisis, it appears to be a desire amongst many to simply reproduce less. The quality of life is declining for many, the ability to earn money is difficult, and people are just simply coming to their senses and not having kids as much as they used to. It's a very, very difficult time to bring kids into this world, and there are a lot of level-headed people that are either deciding not to do it at all, or deciding to just go with one kid.
This is happening in many, many countries of the world, except in Africa, where the ancient ways continue. 21 of the 22 nations with the highest birth rates are there. Woe is Africa."

No, Woe is us...!
"where the ancient ways continue"
Where more 'primitive and less resourceful' ways continue... (but I am on your side)

because for economics to work we need a stable population. Not an increasing population, not a declining population but a stable population
The short video below explains it better that I ever could
Elon Musk is a 'greedy' MONEY GUY. This video is all about sustaining to the global 'Ponzi Scheme'.
It has nothing to do with 'Planetary Survival'.
However, I agree with George Carlin...'Humanity's Ship has sailed...we (you and me) missed the boat'.
Rant and Rave all you want. And please do enjoy your memories.

Just as much lead as the country you come from or for that matter the country I come from, since the problem seems to be world wide.
Population going down would not be so bad if it did not also affect the demographics with a higher ratio of older people to young.
UK birth rate 1,5
US birth rate 1.6
AU bjrth rate 1.5
The birth rate necessary to replace people that die, (Replacement rate) is 2.1
Why do we need to replace the people that died...?
We are killing ourselves via 'over-population'. Any scientist with a brain will tell you that there are not enough resources on the planet to sustain the current populations.
In fact, the science says that Earth was 'self-sustainable' at a population of 1 billion.
You can call me names, and deny...deny...deny...! But the Human Race has basically...'missed the boat'.
'Humanity's Ship has sailed.'

The people of Yala are equally indigenous, they haven't moved, the border did.
You are correct!

"Currently, the fertility rate for Thai women stands at an average of 1.16, indicating that a woman has approximately 1.16 children throughout her lifetime. An exception to this trend is observed in Yala province, which reports a fertility rate of 2.27."
No, I am not a 'racist', just a scientifically factual guy...as they do tend to double the indigenous Thai's'.
Wikipedia:
Yala is one of the four provinces of Thailand with a Muslim majority. About 72 percent of the people are Malay-speaking Muslims

Unfortunately, unexpected things can happen to us as we age...inspite of our enthusiasm for life.
In 1992 I lived and worked in Tokyo for a year. And one crowded evening on the train back home after work, I happen to sit next to this older, but English-savvy Japanese gentleman (it was a long train ride).
But among many other things, he happen to inquire if I was married? I said "no,...but divorced."
Then he stated that if I marry again (I'm age 42 at the time) "be sure to pick a much younger wife".
"Why" I asked?"
"Because when you get 'too old', she can take care of you".
I was too 'arrogant and cocky' then. Today at 75, he was a wise man.
As I think back on the cultural differences, in my later years...a younger Japanese wife would be much more suitable over a Thai wife. Why...? Japanese have much more integrity.
However, the Past is Past...and for me, it wasn't meant to be.

She is cute. The first thing I look in a Prime Minister.
She looks exactly like her father, but for the lip-stick.

"Having said that, what a lot of bird keepers neglect is that the species they keep usually fly I don't know how many kilometers a day in the wild. If you want to keep your bird in a cage then this is literally like prison for them"
So true. However, the ones you go to purchase are already in a cage and maybe even born in captivity (I don't know).
I've seen them at Chatuchak Market in small cages with 10-20 others in the same cage.
Thanks

You sure about that? Parrots are EXTREMELY noisy and earpiercingly loud. Your neighbors will hate you in no time. Parrots require high quality food, which usually is expensive and I'm not even sure you can get that in Thailand. They're extremely messy eaters, which means 90% of their expensive food lands on the floor and goes to waste. They need a lot of stimulation and toys to keep them happy. The toys are expensive and don't last long. And while they're fun when they're juveniles, a lot of them get nasty when they become adults and they can do some serious damage when they bite. Also, if you ever have to inject them with medication they're gonna hate you for like 6 months afterwards. Parrots are OK if you have the money, no immediate neighbors and if can give them the attention they need. If you don't fulfill these requirements then please get another species of bird!
How's about Cockatiel...?

Thanks.

Thanks, but you have serious vision issues. Perhaps coke bottle eyewear will help 😀
Dude, I can tell that you are from a country where 'light-hearted-sarcasm and humor' is not appreciated. I did say that I was 'joking'.
But hey, I'll be sure to take your advice and go out first thing in the morning searching for my new pair of 'coke-bottle' glasses'.
Peace and Love
'Fitne' is known to be very effective.

They say I look 10-15 years younger, I say they need eye glasses. Friendly to everyone and strangers. Exercise regularly stay socially and physically active and eat well every meal. Positive thoughts and outlook and not getting wound up over petty things like traffic, others perspectives and issues that I can’t control.
That's 'great' for 45. Keep it up...!

Living in the tropics certainly ages a person quicker. All that extra sun, insect bites, humidity and associated fungi/bacteria etc. etc. take their toll.
Very true!
I see it in my guitar finishes, and my amplifiers.

There is a guy at my 'health club' (555, great name) who is 79, has a huge belly, and looks like a 'dried-out-toad'. And he is always telling me how the 'girls' can't believe his age...as they say he looks...'so much younger'.
We all just 'eat it up'...don't we...?!
My ex-wife back in the states (a 'Dixie Peach' from Alabama) never told me that...!
