  1. OK, but you say a new card. By that I assume you already had a card with a previous address whis was not in Thailand. A first card Wise tell me card cannot be for someone with a Thai address and no fixed address somewhere else in the world.
  2. I am sure it If , for exais good but if you live in Thailand you cannot get one. if, for example, you have a home in the Uk then you can obtain a card there.
  3. Suggest Miracid from Fascino. Works in 20 minutes
  4. I had to re-apply three times in order to get accepted-patience is the name of the game
  5. Still very much around. Saw him on You Tube testing, and crashing, a car for Mat Armstrong.
  6. Duodart is certainly available here. I live in Pattaya and it was out of stock for a few months last year. Fascino normally stocks it and I was using Bangkok Drugstore ,on line, when it was not available here. Many of the Pharmacies on Rama IV at its junction with Suriwongse also stock it. Prices range from 1400 to 1800-much cheaper than the hos[ital price. Hope that helps.
  7. How about the Auction Rooms? One in N. Pattaya and one in Soi Chaiyapreuk
  8. They did give about 6 months notice. I managed to get a 3moth extension in view of the fact that I was visiting the UK for 10 days-that's long enough!. They did not tell me about the extension but have since been sending SMS's which cannot be replied to. So visiting the UK now will have to be with cash in hand. My Thai bank debit card needs a 6 digit PIN wheras UK cards need 4 digits. I was able to withdraw cash inside a Barclays branch office but the card was not appreciated at service areas on the M 4. Booking a Uber taxi is now impossible and so it goes on.
  9. No, by their decision. They are closing accounts of all overseas customers who do not have a UK address
  10. Thank you. They say that if I do not reply they will give the Thai RD any information they have about me. On 31st Dec. my balance was 150 pounds; a week later 0 pounds. Nothing very interesting there for any RD !
  11. Yesterday I received a notification from the bank in the UK, Barclays, that is closing my account, that I need to inform them about my Tax Residency status both in the UK and Thailand. They state that the information they have about me suggests that I may be a tax resident of Thailand. They require Tax Identification numbers for both UK and Thailand. So Big brother is here! As I am now no longer a customer of Barclays I do not feel obliged to give them any information. Any thoughts?
  12. In Bangkok I would suggest Dr Viroj Chodchoy at Bumrungrad Hospital. I have been a patient of his for 15 years.
  13. Corect. This is what I have done. The only problem at the moment is that I cannot get an ATM Card with Wise-why?- because I live in Thailand! Round and round I go!
  14. I am assured the use of a tablet will solve the problem of wanting a bigger device than a mobile. QAnd I am not so likely to lose it!
  15. Something similar. Birthday Card posted in UK on 13th March arrived 25th May.
  16. No-they tell me I am on the waiting list. At the moment Thailand is not on their list of countries for Cards.
  17. Credit Card from Amex. OK it costs a few thousand but they have been excellent to deal with. Twice they have got money back for me-money owed by airlines.
  18. Not all front office staff in top hotels have University degrees-my partner has qualification from Aksorn and that and an interview were sufficient to be accepted. He cannot be the only one!
  19. I am not sure about that. Hotels were crammed full last weekend and will be again this coming weekend. You clearly do not live in a Tourist town.
  20. Really? In the top hotels Receptionists are not permitted to sit down-they stand for all of their 10hr shift When you have 150 rooms occupied by Thais checking out at the last minute , noon, and another 150 waiting to check in at 2pm it is not much fun-I can assure you. I mention Thais because they use the limits whereas foreigners tend to drift away during the morning giving the cleaners time to clean.. Clean 150 rooms in 2 hours? You need an army of cleaners for that! And, by the way, they all speak and write excellent English.
