  1. If you think those taps are tough to find you ought to try fork handles . . .
  2. Too bad they also did not include a pic. It's really kinda of a bizarre sculpture.
  3. ^ since it's some 60 years ago it's someone who is long dead and gone.
  4. When I moved in I quickly had a hot shower unit installed. Prior to that she had been taking a regular tap water shower for years. Ok in the summer, freezing ass cold any other time. I was not having it. I bought the unit for less than 3K Bt at Lotus and had one of the local sparky's fit it for another 300 Bt. It was as if I had hung the moon. She still thanks me years later. I must also add that I feel much the same as some others here. IMO most of my other gifts, acts of kindness to others have been well underappreciated or even ignored. I don't do them much anymore.
  5. Mr. Carson tell us "The business of life is the accumulation of memories. In the end that is all there is."
  6. Soooo . . . . assorted countries have NO respect for Thailand and the Thai Air Force and allowing overflight permission is way down their list of things to do.
  7. Fifteen years I lived in Thailand. I speak fluent Thai and Issan. There were very few areas of the country that I had not been. Indeed, I traveled extensively all over SE Asia. I lived just north of BKK for six years and the rest of it in the Hua Hin area. I moved back to the States in 2019 when they changed the visa requirements that was going to make me deposit some 25K USD into a Thai bank or bring in 65K Bt a month. No thanks. I have been a lucky man and had more than enough money to do either. Truth be told I was becoming rather bored with it in Thailand. More importantly my daughter was asking me to come home. I had no wife or SO nor children in Thailand and I always found it difficult to really to put down any roots since I could not own land. I have been satisfied with my decision. I do miss my friends and how unpredictable it can be. I lived simply and modestly prior to my coming to Thailand. I did the same while I was there. I do the same thing now. I don't even try to stay up to the minute with what does on here. I let everyone else and the media do that. Turn off the news at 6 p.m. and it's not to worry.
  8. The less you care the happier you are. The sun is coming up tomorrow. The best things in life are not things. The business of life is the gathering of memories. In the end that is all there is.
  9. In my country there is a "suicide clause" that normally runs for the first two years of the policy and after that the insurance is paid. I would not know what the standard is in Thailand.
  10. It matters not to me one little bit how anyone might describe whatever wealth I may have. I'm just glad I have it.
  11. The "Eastern Tigers" might have something to say about it sometime in the future. Coup, rinse, repeat.
  12. How can it be "coming home" if it's never been there? Those Spanish women are fearless in small spaces. They could play keep-away in a water closet and not have to worry. Not to mention that their U17 and U19 women's teams won their respective World Cups last year. They are going to be around for a good while I would think. Good on 'em.
  13. My son has died and his service is next week. 41 years old. My heart is broken and it has been dark days. At the conclusion of his service we are going to play Iz's rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". I don't know how I am going to get through it.
  14. She knows from where her bread is buttered. That is not such a bad thing.
  15. Everybody loves SOMEBODY sometimeEverybody falls in love somehowSomething in your kiss just told meMy sometime is now.
  16. Goodness - that is a tough tough decision that you are having to make. I expect it is going to be a bit of a rough road as well. I have no help I can offer but I do hope you will come back to this thread and update it from time to time.
