  1. Hi

Just recently moved from Korat down to Si Racha. I"m staying here on non-immigrant O based on marriage, which I extend every year and then do the 90 day report via the web.

Phoned up Si Racha Immigration to ask what was required following my change of address and they advised that I didn't need to do anything other than keep doing the 90 day report via the web as before (and presumably come to them next June for the extension). This doesn't seem right to me! Can anyone please confirm if the correct procedure or not? I can't remember when I fill out the 90 day online report, whether there is a section for informing of COA? If this is the case then maybe this all I have to do?

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Hi there

My UK passport is expiring in June this year. I'm here on a Non-immi O based on marriage visa (with 3 extensions) and I'm doing my 90 report on Monday and have an appointment on Wednesday at the Trendy Building to apply for a new passport.

I plan to visit the UK in April and am slightly worried that I may not get my passport back in time. My question is, is if I have nt received a new passport in time can I apply for an Emergency Travel Document from the UK Embassy and if I can, will I still be able to get a Re-entry Permit and return to Thailand using the Emergency Travel Document and re-enter under my Non-immi O visa ?

Another possibility would be to renew my passport in the UK using their fast-track service. Is it possible to do this and re-enter Thailand (assuming I have a re-entry permit in my old passport) under my Non-immi O visa and then transfer the extension of stay/visa across when back in Thailand.

    Thanks for your help.

(Does anyone know the latest turn around times for UK Passport Renewals?)

  3. Hi

I just have a question regarding the extension of my Non-immigrant O Visa based on marriage which I obtained just over a year ago in Kuala Lumpur.

I’ve read the list of requirements and I’m still not sure about the requirements in respect of the marriage certificate (we married in the UK before having a ceremony in Thailand).

In KL all that was required was a copy of my UK marriage certificate.

If I understand correctly for the extension I need to also have the marriage certificate translated into Thai?

I assume that I do not have to register the marriage in Thailand, as we are already married?

I’ve also read that I need a letter of evidence from my embassy. Is this correct and what is it?

How soon before the last date I can stay in the country can I apply for the extension?

Is there's anything else I've over looked regarding the marriage certificate?

    Thanks again

  4. Hi

In a few months time I will be applying for for an extension of my Non-immigrant O Visa based on marriage. The visa was obtained in Kuala Lumpur.

For proof of income I will be asking for a letter from the UK Embassy in Bangkok. Just had a few questions about this.

    1) Has the monthly amount increased from 40,000 baht to 65,000 baht? (I've seen the figure of 65,000 mentioned elsewhere on the web, but not here!)

    2) How many months of the required income do they need to see on your bank statement?

    3) Do they take the months as a total and average them out, so that if I am slightly below for the required amount for one month, above on another, but on average above the required amount, will it be OK?

    4) Do I just turn up at the Embassy and ask for this letter? Can do it by post?

    Thanks for your help

  5. Thanks for the replies.

Just to confirm a successful mission. I handed in the following:

    Passport + 1 photo

Copy of wife's ID card (signed by her)

Copy of Household Registration (signed by her)

Copy of UK Marriage Certificate (signed by us, translation to Thai not required)

Letter from wife requesting issue of visa

UK Bank Statement, which was printed out over the Internet. Necessary funds were deposited a couple of days before.

    Payment in cash 550 Ringgit

Arrived at Thai Embassy just before 9.30am, 45 min wait, handed in documents, I wasn't asked for any further information. Went back the next day at 2.45pm and walked straight to the counter to collect the Visa and all was done. Simples! :)

  6. Hi

Just a quick couple of questions. I'm off to KL tomorrow, to hopefully get a Non-Immi O Visa based on marriage.

We married in the Uk. Is it necessary to get a translation of the Marriage Certificate from English to Thai? (If it is required do you know where I can get this done quickly in Bangkok tomorrow?)

I assume it is OK for the equivalent of 100,000 Thai Baht to be transferred into my UK bank account the day before I apply for the Visa and that all that is required is that I can supply a print out showing the funds in my account at the time of application.

    Thanks for your help.

    Jon :)

  7. The multi entry non immigrant O is a visa issued by a Consulate and is valid for unlimited entry for up to 90 days each time for a period of one year.

The single entry non immigrant O visa provides one entry of up to 90 days.

Both can be issued for reason of having a Thai spouse. Either stay can be extended for 60 days or one year by meeting requirements.

The 60 day extension of stay is issued by Immigration to extend current stay to visit wife or child. Requirement is marriage/child proof

The one year extension of stay for marriage is issued by Immigration for a one year extension of current stay and can be continued on a yearly basis. Requirement is 400k/40k financial and marriage proof.

What I was talking about were both the 60 day extension and the one year multi entry visa in the above quote.

OK, got it now. Thanks for the clear explanation. :D

  8. It will depend on the local immigration office but you should be able to get at least one 60 day extension of stay. Some are setting a total limit of 4 or some other figure (per year) but others are not.

The multi entry non immigrant O visa allows unlimited stays of up to 90 days each so most people would do a border crossing and return for a new 90 day stay if they can not afford extension of stay.

    Thanks for all your replies.

Lopburi - Is the above visa you're referring to something different to the Tourist Visa or Non Immigration O Visa based on marriage? Sorry, but I'm a bit confused as to what visa this is?

    Thanks again

  9. Hi there

I'm living in Thailand on a tourist visa, I had a double entry tourist visa and I have now extended each one by 30 days and I'm now coming to the end of the final extension, and therefore need to start thinking about the best visa to get to continue my stay.

My wife is Thai and we married back in the UK, with a ceremony in Thailand. Unfortunately, I do no have a spare 400,000 baht to apply for a Visa based on marriage, or the necessary proof of income. I understand that if I go KL for the visa I need only 100,000 baht which I could probably just about afford, but when I come to extend this visa in Thailand, I would again be faced with having to have 400,000 baht in my bank account? Is this correct?

However, I recently found a thread on this site which said the following:

It's so common that it's nick named 'The Unofficial Marriage VIsa'. Do a border run, for even a 15 day stamp and can extend it for 60 days. Then can repeat the process again and again and again if so wished. People who don't want money tied up in useless local bank accounts, don't have verifiable income, or just don't have the money have been doing it for years, no problem.

Please can anyone confirm if it is still possible to do the above? I'm hoping it is as it seems to be by far the easiest option at the moment.

    Thanks for your help.

    Jono :D

  10. No, depending on your travel plans a re-entry permit may be of some use, single entry 1000 Baht, doesn't add any time but would keep the current permission to stay valid. Otherwise, just make the second entry and extension, then apply for another Tourist Visa in a neighboring country.

Cheers for the replies. I think a re-enrty permit would do the trick as I'm only going for a couple of days, but it will be this Sunday. Can I get the re-entry permit at the airport?

I have seen recent reports that they seem to be available again, just make time in your schedule. Also. some have reported long lines at immigration when getting stamped out of the country.

When re-entering, be sure to enter your re-entry permit number on the TM6 Arrival Card.

OK. Great. Thanks again for the info. :)

  12. Hi

I have a double entry tourist visa valid for 6 months. I had intended to stay for 2 months then get a 1 month extension, then do the same again to get the maximum 6 month stay. However, I now have to go abroad next month having only been here for 1 month.

Is it possible to get another entry permit added to my double entry visa, so I can still maximise my stay with my current visa to 6 months?

    Thanks for you advice :)

  13. Hi there

I have a Nokia 3 phone and I'm using a DTAC sim card. All seemed to be working fine, until I realised that I'm not receiving replies to any of my texts sent to friends in the UK! Text within Thailand are fine and I've asked friends in the UK to both reply to my texts and create new ones, but it makes no difference. Have also reset the phone to factory settings and re-inserted the sim card, but no joy!

Anybody have any idea what might be causing this and how I can fix it??

    Thanks

    :jap:

  14. Hi Folks

I'm moving to Thailand with my Thai wife in February. I am a British citizen and my wife has been living in the UK for the last few years. We will be shipping some of our personal bits and pieces to Thailand under my wife's name. I will be entering Thailand under a visa waiver or tourist visa.

I wish to send some of my personal effects such as a PC, books, clothes and a telescope in the same shipment. I'm assuming we can say that the PC belongs to my wife, but it may be obvious if they check, that some of the other items do not belong to my wife. Does anyone know how strict customs are and whether doing this is likely to present problems??

    Thanks for your advice.

    Jono :)
