Unless you know for sure that the meat is fresh, I think that it is best to always assume that it has been frozen and thawed. Chicken I will cook the same day as I buy it or after 1 day maximum in the fridge. Pork, I will allow 2 days max in the fridge. Beef can stay in the fridge for 4 days. I will always check the smell and dump anything dubious. It is just not worth the risk. Some places, I will never buy meat from due to the smell. Tesco no longer have a presence in Thailand, so i can say that I would not buy meat in some of their supermarkets due to the stink at the meat section!

Waking up on a winter morning with ice on the inside of the windows. Oldest first to use the bath water, youngest last. Easter eggs with the chocolate so thick that you needed to smash it with a hammer or something heavy. Simple gifts for Christmas and we were grateful for whatever we got. Walking (or bicycling) to school from 5 years old with no adult. Listening to radio Caroline and other pirate radio. Recording Pick of the Pops on cassettes. "Oi'll give it foive".(Janice Nicholls) Tea made in a teapot with tea leaves. Running to stand on the bridge as a steam train went under.

British man fined 5,000 baht for naked stroll on Krabi beach
loong replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
There is absolutely no reason to be embarrassed to admit that you are British. His actions were not due to him being British but because he is a total Pratt! I wish that many people on here would realise that certain behavior has nothing to do with whatever nationality the person may be. I think that you would probably find that a very low percentage of Brits would consider it acceptable to stroll naked on a Thai beach. -
Enigmatic white insect sparks learning frenzy on Thai social media

I think that you are probably confusing them with whitefly larvae that you find on the underside of leaves or aphids that you tend to find on stems. -
Creating a Last Will and Testament at an Amphur office
loong replied to connda's topic in General Topics
My most recent will was done by a lawyer and although very simple, cost 6,000 Baht. My previous will (about 12/14 years ago) was done at the Amphur and cost 100 Baht, simple and quick. The fellow in the Amphur office actually drew up the will according to my instructions. The important thing is that i had to give my instructions in Thai as he wanted to be absolutely sure that I completely understood what I was signing. I think that you will find that different amphurs and different officers may have different requirements, so it is best to visit your local amphur to enquire. -
Motorcyclist and child fall into road sinkhole in Nonthaburi (video)

Somebody could be walking and fall down a sinkhole. Could have been in a car and sunk in the water and drowned! -
One of the most epic crash videos I've seen so far
loong replied to NorthernRyland's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Very rarely, I read a report where someone walks away relatively unscathed from a bad crash and the credit their "miraculous escape" to some amulet or similar. I've yet to see a single report where they state that somebody died in an accident despite having amulets in the vehicle. This suggests that survival is just a matter of chance and nothing to do with any amulets! However, the vast majority of vehicles in Thailand have amulets and monks' daubing. In other countries, hardly any vehicles have such "protection", yet there are much fewer road deaths than in Thailand! So, statistically, this means that if you have a magical amulet in your vehicle, you are more likely to die than if you don't! -
Usually at no cost? I would think that they are rarely issued for free. I got one this year and 2 years ago at Khon Kaen and both times they cost 500 Baht each! No receipt - of course!

Phuket karaoke owner arrested for operating underage prostitution
loong replied to george's topic in Thailand News
Are you referring to the owner? The owner is a woman. I don't know why but it always seems worse to me when these young girls are exploited by females. -
It may have been a good idea to show the finished hairstyle. That just looks odd and does not resemble a forest fire at all!

Russian tourist on Pha-ngan Island accused of kicking Thai pregnant woman
loong replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
There are always going to be problems in holiday destinations unfortunately. Fortunately, there are few really serious incidents. Considering the huge number of visitors to Thailand the incidents are relatively few and so i see no reason to trat all foreigners like criminals. -

The victim is not the owner of the shop. She owns the shop next door to the coffee shop where the incident occurred. -

His user name is Zioner. Are you suggesting that there is something racist about that? Please explain how. An article that does not refer to a Brit at all, yet you have to show your discrimination against Brits once again. -
Decade-old Thai rice from controversial scheme found fresh
loong replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I am amazed that they still have rice in storage after 10 years! I wonder what the average storage cost per Kg of rice works out at. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they won't recover the storage costs! -
Bangkok’s children gasp for air amidst pollution nightmare
loong replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I am not in Bangkok, but every day I see parked vehicles left with engines running. Numerous people who do not switch off their engines when buying stuff from roadside stalls. Add in the ridiculously long unnecessary waits at red lights with engines running, that is a lot of pollution that could be avoided. I am guessing that it is much the same in Bangkok.- 31 replies

Taking 3 small tubs of nam prik into UK via Heathrow
loong replied to kwilco's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I wouldn't say that nam prik is a paste. It is usually a condiment with fish sauce, chili, garlic or shallots. Prik kaeng is a paste. I think customs only classify as either solid or liquid (liquid includes gels). So I think that it will definitely be classified as a liquid if it is a paste. -

Thai government seeks to mandate graphic warnings on alcohol products
loong replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
in my experience, very few people drink beer from a bottle if you exclude foreigners. Most Thais buy large bottles which those "condoms" aren't available for. Most Thai bars, you cannot even buy small bottles. -
