  2. I live in Pattaya and have been to hospitals all over Chonburi and in Bangkok. Costs are an issue. As long as English is handled well by a doctor I have no problem with government hospitals and long waits. I my latest test results showed eGFR (non-African-American) at 47.0. My RBC Count, Hemoglobin (hb) and Hematacrit (Hct) readings were all low. My diabetes doctor told me I had anemia, my CKD was Stage 3. I was told to avoid potassium foods like bananas, nuts, and oatmeal, so museli, almost daily, is out. My insurance company knows I’m diabetic and has a history of denying related coverage. What doctor choices are good for me? Please Sheryl, your knowledge and experience are sorely needed. I’ve got a gloomy attitude in case you didn’t guess.
  3. I’ve been using Docs to Go on a couple of win 10 laptops and now on a win 11 model. I’ve been syncing to iPhones but most importantly to an iPad. Everything was going well until 3 weeks ago. Luckily I synced before my string of bad luck. My laptop died. Luckily it was under warranty and It’s okay now. Then my almost 4 year old ipad died. Icare in pattaya’s central couldn’t help. I bought a new 12.9 inch iPad at the store selling apple stuff one floor down. Luckily I had just backed it up. When I tried syncing on Documents to Go I could not add a new device. I started docs to go, clicked on add device, clicked on new device, went to the new device identifier screen, with my iPad’s doc to go showing the code for a new desktop but the laptop didn’t recognize it. Both units were on the same wifi, cellular data off on the ipad, vpn off on both units, disabled malwarebytes and avast on the laptop, but the ipad wasn’t recognized. I’ve tried over and over. What do you suggest?
  4. Sheryl might approve me saying I’m looking for the right doctor but at an in-town hospital.
  5. I know I could go to my heart guy but I suspect a holistic view (lots of questions, tests, different body sysmtoms) will yield more for me. I’ll arrive with all my clinic-done tests. I will go my heart guy later. I’ve had new symptoms lately, not heart related, I think, and want to ease my mind with a more complete approach. Cheers.
  6. I’ve done this 3 times, at least, over 18 years, at Soi 5 Jomtien. All done within 30-60 minutes. No charge.
  7. I’ve just ordered two boxes of Rivalox (Rivaroxaban) 20 mg, Indian generic, at 1,890 baht each. If I tolerate them well I’ll buy lots more. What is the procedure for stopping Warfarin and starting Rivaroxaban? Start the day after my last Warfarin dose or wait one or two days? Thanks all.
  8. I hope Sheryl comes across my post. Her advice is always appropriate and very helpful. We are lucky to have her advising us.
  9. What is the procedure for going from Warfarin to this new-to-me drug?
  10. I’ve been taking Warfarin since I was diagnosed with AFIB in 2008. It deals with the possibility of stroke by reducing blood coagulation though one must be careful to maintain INR readings in the 2.0-3.0 range. My right arm, wrist to elbow, is blotchy from poor recovery from knocks to the forearm. Doctors look at my arm and ask ‘Warfarin?’. My Thai heart doctor says that stopping Warfarin and replacing it with RIVANOXABAM 20 mg taken daily would be suitable. I wouldn’t have to get INR tests and forbidden/cautioned foods such as leafy green vegetables, cranberries and lots more could be eaten. Future arm knocks wouldn’t be a lasting problem. The new drug is expensive though. Pattaya Tai Fascino quoted me 2,430 baht for a month’s supply (I didn’t note the brand); there would be a reduction when paying as I’m a card carrying customer. My Bangkok druggist said that the price for Xarelto 20 mg price is 3,600 baht. I don’t know if Xarelto is a Thai generic or original. She also found a made-in-India generic for 1,890 baht. I gather, perhaps mistakenly, that generics from Thailand or India are fine. What do you think? What suggestions do you have for me? Thanks.
  11. Hi Joebuzzz, before, while I could not connect to the external display, for some reason my laptop rebooted (without my assistance). After that reboot both the laptop and Dell monitor were on and working well. Since then I haven’t had issues. Thanks.
  12. What an exhausting weekend. My laptop just rebooted (don’t kniw why) and both laptop and Dell were working. not looking for trouble but maybe the under warrantee laptop needs looking at. I’ve been have issues with my qbittorrent. An example, twice the default directories were not seen and were identified as ‘1’.
  13. Following Red Phoenix’s suggestion, I unplugged the hdmi cable from the laptop. The Dell displayed a message that no hdmi cable was connected. When I plugged it in again, the Dell told me there was no hdmi signal. BTW, the gold tip hdmi cable, came with the monitor.
  14. Thanks In the Jungle. Unfortunately the Dell download site displays ‘This service is temporarily not available’. I will keep trying every few days.
  15. Maybe bad news for me. My laptop is a Win 11 Acer about 6 months old, working ok. The Dell monitor is 4-7 years old. Until a few weeks ago everything worked well though I wasn’t using the Acer much. Now that I need to use it a lot I find that on Dell turn on I get a message saying no hdmi signal and it goes into all black power saving mode. I’ve given myself a few shocks when touching the cord’s hdmi-Dell end. Both laptop and monitor were bought at J.I.B. Tukcom. How should I approach this issue? Thanks in advance.
  16. While he was doing the cataract surgery on one eye he noticed I was about to have a detached retina, so he fixed that. Thank you, doctor. At Rutnin.
  17. Khun Sirineou, wow. That article was clearly written, I almost followed it, haha. I’m not sure what the valve issue is exactly. I will print it out and encourage her to show it to whatever doctor she ends up seeing. If I was the patient I would follow your advice. Thanks and good health to us all.
  18. Thank you CharlieH and thanks to Sheryl for the reply. I must admit I regret that particular doctor names were not suggested. It will make it more difficult for me to sell the right course of action. I will try my best. Cheers, Alan
  19. Perhaps he could pay the fine with a cheque but from an account with zero baht. The new regs, or regs to be, will make his iffy banking legal.
  20. My sister-in-law has a heart valve problem. She has fallen several times because of the issue. She lives in Pattaya and sees a doctor on Soi 4 (I don’t know the doctor’s name). It would be best for her to see an excellent doctor in the field in Phitsanulok, 20 kms from the family spread. Failing that, an excellent Bangkok specialist would be the next best choice. I guess Rayong, Si Racha and Chonburi specialists would also do the trick. To lighten the mood, here’s how she pronounces ‘valve’. With a strong tone she says ‘waw’. Makes sense if you’ve been here for a bit. Ha ha.
  21. A while ago, trying out my skills, I asked a waitress if she had sticky rice. “Mi kee niao, mai Khrap?” After getting the blankest stare it clicked. Sorry, sorry, sorry.
  22. Thanks MJCM. The card is not acrivated. Does Fedex deliver to my door or just to their local office?
  23. A friend in Toronto got a bank card for me in the mail. What is the best, most secure, and speedy service he could use to send on to me the card and accompanying documentation? I realize it will be pricey, but c’est la vie.
  24. My wife went shopping today, Sunday. 40 baht each way to and from Pattaya Tai/2nd Road. wasn’t busy, surprised her.
