  1. The local BIBs were probably customers..... until the raid was instigated by outside law enforcement........ and requested by some NGOs (Non Gov't organizations)
  2. I really Doubt the part about 1 trillion for schools/hospitals, etc....................... They couldn't care less about the poor, elderly, and children...... Pitiful bunch calling the shots.
  3. I can't help but go along with the 'drink driving' probability..... My Thai wife has 2 brothers in Korat that are Thai police...... They are typical Thai cops and 'always drunk' on duty......
  4. Another thing about Vitamins (They are EXPENSIVE in Thailand).......... The 'Thai Customs Officers' Like them for families and themselves (and especially if Good Quality from good countries)...... The same way they like 'your' excess Liquor and Cigarettes........ Don't think for a moment that it is all about taxes....... Some 10 - 15 years ago I was invited to dinner at a customs ladies home (I was dear friend of her grandma).... anyway.... after a nice dinner this 'lady Customs friend' rolled out a cart with about 15 or 20 different bottles of 'Imported Whiskey' and offered 'us' our choice of after dinner drink........ Do you think for a moment she bought all that whiskey????????? NO..... She worked for 'Thai Customs' Have you ever heard of 'CUSTOMS SALES' in Thailand to dispose of confiscated 'Items' such as some I have been to in the USA??????????? I didn't think so.................. Food for thought............ LOL .............
  5. BUT have you been STOPPED AND XRAYED with them? Many foriegners are not stopped and walk right through.... Just the luck of each of us.......
  6. In Reality ........................ I, as an American citizen, Trust my government................ I think they know something that I don't know....... (YET) I TRUST THAT the USA government has a reason for this and will still continue to take the best care for it's citizens............ I also, along with 'our' government, think Thailand is attacting 'ALL Western World Countries' and I hope this example of our USA 'PULLING OUT' of Thailand will have some effect on this "PRESENT" THAI (Graft- Ridden) government............... it'S citizebs
  7. I think the British recently did the same thing....... Real Estate (property values - in Bangkok Area) have recently reached 'HIGHS' that make more money for the governments (to sell the property) than they make from taking caring for their own citizens........ If this post is just a joke.......... then...... and only 'then'........ so is Mine....... But on the other hand...... If this is REAL..... I am really concerned as a USA Citizen....... Is Our USA government "giving up" on Thailand................... THEN WHAT??????????????? For us Americans, do we need to fear going to or staying in Thailand????????????
  8. If this is accurate information...... Then it sounds to me like this is one more example of Thailand's 30 Baht Hospital visit scheme..... Using 'under paid doctors' without proper 'Knowledge' to care for the 'POOR' Thai folks...... this happens too often in 'up-country' 'Issan' hospitals............ WHY??????................ This present 'Military Regime Government' using all of it's money for Army and Navy Purchases.... Submarines and Tanks, etc....... and not really caring for 'it's people' (especially the poor who they think are too stupid to 'SUE' The Hospital - and Gov't......)
  9. I have had 2 Thai Marriages........ I am a US citizen......... By Thai law, a marriage in either country, if public record, is recognised by the other country (Thailand or USA)..... If you go to a Buddhist Temple to marry but do not record it with the local Thai Umphur (Government offices)---- Then it is not a 'completely legal' marriage and is not observed by the other country........ Many Thais and some Farang/Thai marriages are done in a temple and money given to the family, But if they are not registered with the Thai Government at an Umphur..... THEN the Marriage is not recognised by the other countries..... IT MUST BE A LEGALLY RECORDED MARRIAGE TO BE OF RECOGNITION BY OTHER COUNTRIES....... EDITED to add..... Check to see what the 'South American country' and Thai laws are and whether recorded marriages or just 'Un-recorded'........
  10. Yes.... I also read the article from the NATION and no other information there..... It makes me curious same as you..... WHY?????? has this poor lady been 'incapassitated' by that surgery so that she can't ever work again and the mother must care for her the rest of her life..... Something more is missing and since they told us this much... I'd be curious to know the rest.....
  11. I've read all the posts above and haven't seen any mention of the girls taking birth control upon themselves...... Not only condoms but tablets that are available very cheap at the local pharmacy..... The Thai 'sex-ed' apparently don't teach that (and SHOULD)....... The pharmacies sell birth control tablets over the counter and even sell the 'Morning-after Pills'..... That is what many 'sex-workers' use (I know many)..... Sex Ed needs to improve to lower this 'teen-mothers' problem......
