Somebody’s misses a trick here.
instead of chang muscle top being sold, it should now be “I’m fully vaccinated so f*** off”

The numbers posted by the government are pure BS and have been from the start. Less that 100 only have died? What utter....
For a country with such densely populated areas, you can multiply that death toll by 100 at least due to the amount of Chinese that came into the country in the first few months.
if you do not test the dead or test at all, you are just cooking the numbers.

So, they are talking a lot about vaccinated people being allowed in. But since kids are not expected to be vaccinated until the middle/end of 2022, where does that leave families?. Will
the family still need to quarantine if the adults are but kids are not vaccinated?

Ireland is already at 10 days Quarantine in your own home or the hotel you’ve booked into.
If Thailand had something similar, I’d go back and stay in the wife’s house in Mukdahan and maybe even get a Covid test before travelling, but anything more than that is just to much hassle.

so much for social distancing ...... I am sure we'll see a spike in COVID19 ....
only themselves to blame.
This country has far bigger problems than a spike in Covid cases

Good read and I’m sure it was an experience but why did you leave your kids during this mess to go back to Holland. I mean, I love my genetic family but I am not leaving my kids in Thailand for anything and you must have known there was no way you could just come back after 10 day.
google is a great source of information for this.- 4

I was in Mukdahan in February and a couple of mornings it was 8 degrees when we woke up, which for me was the coldest i have experienced up there or anywhere in Thailand.

Yes, no problem with getting a table at Wine Connection as in my opinion the food has no taste or flavor. McD better. Mind you I stopped going a few years ago. If any forum member can cnvince me it's improved then i will chance a meal ?
TBH I've only eaten there a few times but what I mostly done was sit outside and have a bottle or two of wine. They had nice big fans outside and it was a nice place to cool of in the evening.

I know i said on a previous thread that i'd probably give Patong a miss if i returned to Phuket but we've decided to give it a go when we return to Thailand next February so we can contribute our few Baht to the local economy.
Qatar Airways flying into Phuket has given us a easier route from home, making it easier to travel with the Kids.
We'll stay at the Horizon Patong Beach Resort & Spa on Soi Kep sab, although it has another small entrance onto the beach road so can avoid the Soi most of the time.
Looking forward to getting back and seen what its like although ill see very little of the night life, i might get one night out for a few drinks on my own.
Is Wine connection still in Junceylon? i haven't been in Phuket since 2012 and used to love going there in the evening.

Such a shame about Soi Freedom because it could be so much more and should be following in the footsteps of the hugely successful Soi Eric.
What is wrong with Soi Freedom? I Haven't seen it since it opened back up.
I have so many great, but hazy memories of Soi Eric and Mai Thai bar.

I'll give two reviews from my recent trip to Pattaya.
One positive and the other no so much.
Both have probably been reviewed here already.
Gulliver's traveler's tavern on beach road.
Very impressed for with place. Its meant to be an English pub but it really doesn't feel like it or look like it. More American i think.
Anyway, the food and service was excellent. We went a couple of times as we found it a nice comfortable place to relax with the kids, eat and then have a game of pool.
Always with the waiters close by to fill our wine glasses.
My Wife is from Isaan and a chef and she said some of the Isaan/Thai dishes she had were as good as any she has made or eaten elsewhere.
All Thai chefs in the kitchen, she was expecting them to be from Maymar.
Two standouts for me apart from the Thai food i ate, was the lamb shank massaman and the steak pie. The pie doesn't come with anything extra but believe me you won't need and sides. Its huge.
Both were very nice.
The negative one is from The Hilton rooftop restaurant.
We went on the day of Chinese new year and the hostess greeted us very nicely but then showed us the menu to point out that their isn't much for kids.
Anyway we went in and it took 10 minutes before we were given menus, another 10 minutes too place our order and after 40 minutes we still hadn't received our drinks.
My Wife usually would never say anything or allow me to complain but we were now getting pissed off.
I could see my drinks on the bar for at least 10 minutes and they had been forgotten about.
We pulled the waiter and he said he was sorry and they were really busy. We were one of only 3 tables in the restaurant that was been used.
Outside was busy but that seemed to have many staff and the lovely looking hostess all dressed in white seemed to just be there too look lovely.
I seen about 10 waiters walking up and down with menus but never any food or drinks in hand.
As our first choice was not available we both ordered lamb shanks and it came after 1 hour.
It really wasn't worth waiting for.
The lamb was soft but the sauce was flavourless and the whole dish was just bland.
We could only order chips and onion rings for the kids and and you literally could have put them between two slices of bread and made a nice sambo as the portions were that small.
No desert ordered and the bill came to 3300 baht for 2 mains and to drinks.
Onion rings and chips were given for free because of the slow service.
I doubt ill be back there.
Oh,and the dress code of smart casual.
Me and the wife would always wear something nice going to a place like this but once in side i could see chang muscle tops on blokes with beer spilled on them and sandals which on the website says are not allowed

Nothing as big as a SUV. There are few that have a bigger trunk.
There are companies other than meter taxis that use vans for a fixed price.
Thanks.
the wife has a number for a taxi company in Ubon so I might ask her to ring them again, I think you pay a 20 or 40 baht fee to them for some reason for which I'm not too sure why.
Other than that I'll just decide when we get there.

Can anyone tell me if the taxis at the airport are just normal sized cars or do they have any SUV's like in bkk. Their will be four of us and we will have a few bags and a pram so need something bigger than a regular car.

The rule for most passports is that they have to be valid for the length of stay.
A Thai Passport can even be out of date and he will be allowed entry.
Thanks.
He will still have 4 months on his Thai passport when leaving

Heading to Thailand in February. My kids both have Irish passports which don't expire for a few years but my Sons Thai passport expires on 25/06/2018.
Usually we use their Thai passports when entering because of the shorter waiting times at the Thai Immigration desks and i also join them so the four of use get through quickly.
Will my Son be able to use his Thai passport with it being less than 6 months left on it or does that issue only apply tourists entering the country.

Sometimes i look at my Wife in amazement as she watches a video about a Thai Woman eating Somtam, while at the same time she is eating Somtam.

Turn right when leaving the terminal and walk to the taxi stand at the end of the building.
The meter taxis have fixed rates to cities in bordering provinces.
You could also take a taxi to the main bus station and get a bus or van to Mukdahan. Then you could then get the bus to Savannakhet at the bus station in Mukdahan.
Any idea on how much it is from Ubon to Mukdahan for 4 people. I'm contemplating renting a car and i have drove in Thailand before, mostly from Patts to Bkk and around Samui and i can't say i really enjoyed it and that was without my 2 kids in the car. The rental will cost approx 240 Euros for a week or so but it might end up sitting in the sisters garden for most of the week.
The Wife's cousin will collect us in his pick and he is a safe driver and i know from experience that he does never drink and drive but it has no seat belts in the back and it usually always has a few stragglers in the back which i always think is a distraction for the driver. I usually throw him 1500 each way for the journey.
Having looked at Google street view the roads seem better from Ubon to Mukdahan than they did the last time i went this way in 2012.

Our area has a government truck that comes by and shoots darts at the dogs and then takes them away.
Any chance they'll 'look after' crowing cockerels and those numb nuts who rev their motorbikes for 5 constant minutes for no apparent reason

Meant to be the definitive documentary on the Vietnam war with interviews from all sides. Took ten years of research. So far, it's excellent. Has an imdb score of 9.2.
Yep. Have to agree with you on most of this, although it does have lots of opinions of both sides and touches a lot of things that Americans won't like seeing about their own country, most of it still focuses on the poor white college guy who has to be drafted for War instead of the real victims, the Vietnamese and that blacks got the wrong end of the drafting process.
Amazing quality footage and some of it heartbreaking to watch.
I'd love to know what happened to the North Vietnamese soldiers who spoke out against their government in it.
Brilliant series and a must watch.
The BBC are showing it in 10 one hour episodes but its really 18 hours in length in 10 episodes and its on the net.

Nok Air refunds
in Suvarnabhumi Airport Forum
Posted
Hi all,
2 weeks ago i tried to book flights with Nok Air.
During the booking my payment failed twice using different cards.
I then booked with a different airline but later the near 300 Euros was taken from my bank account for the Nok Air flight without any tickets.
I have been chasing them for 2 weeks via emails, phones and surprise surprise, i finally get an answer through facebook.
Now they sent me the tickets which i do not want and say if i do not want them, i can collect the money within 45 days at the counter.
I wont be there within the next 45 days(In Thailand)
Anyone had a similar situation with this lot?
