  1. I see in Makro potatoes/carrots are imported products, but they don't have the labels like those on apples that I can get the info easily.

I've read from web that for normal imported stuff, the label contains 4 numbers; and if 5 numbers, starting with 9 means organic, starting with 8 means GMO.

I know the safer way is to eat local and current season vegetables and fruits. But some plants don't grow in Thailand so I have to buy the imported ones.

If you are familiar with GMO situation in Thailand, please share a bit in a simple, neat, terse way. English is not my mother language giggle.gif Thank you for sharing!!!

  2. Thanks for all your input! I've also noticed a healing massage shop on North Pattaya Road, almost on the road end leading to Sukhumvit, on the right side. I read and study a lot everyday so my head needs relax often. And taking care of baby causes tension of neck/shoulder muscle a lot. I do sport too and even acupuncture on myself. But the weird thing is: doing self-massage is far less comfortable than others doing massage on you bah.gif

  3. Used to be on in front of Central Festival (massage with wood :). But it was gone for long time.

I need to cure my headache and neck/shoulder pain regularly. Tried in some massage shops, but their "head/neck/shoulder" massage is more like an oil massage on back...

I live in Naklua area. Any info would be greatly appreciated!w00t.gif

  4. I've never eaten there but here's where it is/was Susan and although I've been past it many times over the years I've not been past it recently so I don't know if it's still open or not.

This pic from Google Street View is taken from South Pattaya Road, on the Southwest Corner looking North. I've circled the restaurant.

Thanks a lot! I did not expect it was so close to the road crossing.

I will try again next time !!!

  5. I passed by but didn't feel like to go does not look like a restaurant enough, was feeling like going at someone (whom I don't know) home :-)

    No menu outside also ?

Yup, it is quite small :))) Well, you can try the Shanghai Restaurant on 3rd road then. It surely looks like a restaurant and has many new dishes now !

  6. Is the food as oily and fat as it is as the place that was at Jomtien and that is now on the dark side ?

    ----no, not that oily.

Do they have only pork dumplings ? (no vegetarian ?)

-----I did not check this though.

Where is Shanghai restaurant exactly ?

------3rd, the end near Pattaya North Road

  7. BTW, have you been to Shanghai restaurant recently on 3rd road?

I think their cooking has improved on their non-dumpling dishes in recent months, like for example their spicy eggplant claypot. Also recently they added an entirely new menu ... mostly looking Sechuan ... but they don't seem to do Sechuan peppers.

Most people there seem to order mostly noodles and dumplings, but like I said, the rest of their menu really deserves trying.

Not in recent half a year. Sure, will try it soon !!!

  8. Can you give me some idea of the prices?

For the pic of fried rice, bean and pork, I paid 260 Baht, all S size. Others I can't remember clearly.

Normal dish is between 90 to 150 baht, S size.

S size for me alone is big enough :))))

  9. Thanks for that.

    Great find. clap2.gif

The dish pictured to the left of the beans stir fry, what is that? It looks like braised pork belly, yes?

The cold chicken dish looks like it has a ginger scallion sauce (something easy to make at home for those interested).

Yes, that is the braised pork belly. But most of the westerners won't like it much :)))))))

The sauce on chicken is made of ginger/garlic/scallion stir fried in oil. It looks simple but tastes so amazing. I ate up all the sauce !

  10. Looks good, I might try this tonight.

Yesterday, I suggested the boss to prepare some small salt bottles on table.

    Salt=盐=Yan

That chicken dish is typical Shanghai style, me and mom love it very much. But some people maybe prefer it tastes salter.

Hub likes the spicy stir fried bean a lot, as most westerners do :))))

  11. For those who might be interested....

This one is just open for a few weeks. Yun Nan/Si Chuan style Chinese food--sorry, no north food like Peking Duck and Jiao Zi!!!

I've tried several dishes and I love them. Price is reasonable. Staff are humble. Menu in multiple languages, and in S, M, L portions.

The air-con will be ready in a few days, but you can drink ice water for cooling. And they are ordering new chairs. My husband sat broken one chair yesterday. He is not heavy, but the plastic chair is risky if you move too much on it. So for the moment, they put every 2 chairs together to make it firmer :)))

They have both spicy and non spicy dishes. I like it more than the one on Soi 53 Sukhumvit road.

Very easy to find. It locates at the Sukhumvit end of soi Phortisan, on the corner of the side-soi leading to BPH, .

    Cheers

    Susan

  12. Yes, till Dec 2015, did the same time when my hub renewed his working permit, in Rayong

So, did you also do the theory test and driving test there ?

    Thanks a lot !

As I said, only reaction/colour tests. No theory or driving test since you already passed that threshold when you got the first 1-year.

Don't forget to photocopy everything, including your expiring licence, both sides. They do a document check anyway upstairs. Copy shop outside across the road from the Banglamung DLT.

Oh, I still have one more question:

If I arrive at the DLT at 2PM, do you think I can finish all the procedure and get my new motorbike drying license within the same day?

Because as of my baby, it would be better if I can leave in the afternoon.

  13. Hello !

My motorbike driving license (valid for 1 year) will expire on Feb 15. For the renewal application:

    1. Must I get health certificate ?

    2. Do I need to do those physical tests (eye, reaction, etc) and also the motor bike riding test and theory test again?

Mr. Admin, please don't delete my post. I'm asking these to estimate how long time will I need there, as I have a baby to look after at home (las time, it took me a whole day!!!). I know there are similar posts in this Forum. But all of them have many pages and my eyes really hurt so much.

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Susan
