You would be better off going to somewhere else in Asia, where the females are of higher quality like Japan or Korea
What is your definition of quality?

Indeed. Some adore their spouses. Some cheat on them...
Yes, whatever country you live in. Some have a mutually trusting relationship and do not have to worry about what the other one is doing.

Not sure what you mean "not clear" I brought her to San Diego. I think that was the big mistake. We had beach front land in Sattahip I wanted to build and retire there. She wanted to go to America...
Conflict of desires but that's life unfortunately.

My X was a CFO for Mercedes Benz of BKK. Guess I chose unwisely... LOL!!!
Not if you like big cities with their pollution, etc. Your wife certainly falls into the "well paid occupation", sector. Maybe it was not clear?

Like everywhere else there are pitfalls to avoid, however, if you're not into the bar girls scene that is one big one you will not have to worry about. If you're seriously looking for a permanent relationship then consider government workers and civil servants, for instance. Those with a good income who will not forever be expecting you to pay for everything and subsidising their family as well. Many will have well paid occupations and are not looking for an 'ATM' because all farang are rich! Be careful and be selective remembering that Bangkok is not much different to New York, London or Paris, expensive, while avoiding Pattaya. Depends on what your scene is of course and if you're looking for the high life? Pollution, noise, traffic and personal safety are other considerations too.
Outside Bangkok looking at many of the Provincial cities would be good places to start, but not Phuket!!
Best of luck with your adventures in LoS.
Personally I've been living in an Isaan city for >10 years.

I just avoid the scum areas. Problem is the scum like slime tends to roll down hill . Are you pro criminal?
What has your inane comment got to do with my post? If that's the best retort you can manage then your understanding of the English language is very poor. Furthermore it's doubtful if anyone forced you to visit Thailand and 100's of times over the period of your visits averages out at once a month. You must be a troll.

If I had a mango for every time I've heard the line, my lady is a good one blah blah blah, I could have mango smoothies twice a day for life.
Another one who sounds as though he has never been to where the vast majority of are not and have never been connected with the sex industry. You should get out more!

Agree to a point. The Thai men have their own hangouts in Thailand. Having said that the Thai government is making efforts to clean up the problems it has caused itself. The foreigners that are attracted to here tend to be of the lowest quality possible. Also the easiest place in the world next to Camboadia for hiding every slimeball possible on the planet. If they are serious about getting rid of the bad foreigners, they need to set up roadblocks in various places in Pattaya for example and start checking every passport and visa. I am sure in one day alone they could fill up a few plane loads and deport them for life. Problem is at the airports and borders they just allow them to walk right in without a problem. In the sixteen years and the numerous times i have entered Thailand likely in the hundreds have never beed asked a single question or had a bag checked.
You could always try a change of scene as it appears from your posts that your haunts are not the most salubrious places in LoS. Knowing so many undesirables must make life a real pain for you so if you are so displeased with it here just stay at home or go elsewhere, problem solved

Poor people tend to vote to increase their own poverty: I don't know why this is.
I would be surprised if the majority, 80-90%, of those being forced to leave because of the low exchange rate didn't actually vote for Brexit and bring about their own demise.
Those not on the edge of survival mostly voted remain I think.
Your thinking is askew. Not true according to the people I know. In fact personally I do not know anyone who voted to Remain.

I called 1111 about an hour back (10.30 AM on Tuesday 25 Oct) and was told to keep trying as "it's under construction" but was warned to do it in person if I cannot get it work. Ugh.
Too late to mail in at this point so will throw away 5 hours of time or 500 baht to have a service do it (website now says to mail in no less than 15 days before due date; mine is 10 days prior today).
BTW, I have successfully done this 3 or 4 other times but believe that it's necessary to only attempt it during business hours of Immigration office AND only only only within the period of time allowed for online period, of course. You can report up to 7 days after and forget the post 15 days before, it just shortens your 90 days to about 80 or even less! The last 90 I did by EMS, as on-line was not accessible, arrived withing 24 hours. Post your TM47 early in the morning and it will arrive within a few days even if you're not in or near a city.

No. We only meet every 3 years for one day at the most, when I am in England, usually due to work and other diversions.
They were, while I was living in England, far too busy and so was I, to get together other than Christmas when it was me that visited them. They have never been to Thailand in ten years and no chance of that now due to health problems. Keep in touch from time to time by email and occasional skype.

Not knowing which embassy you need to contact that's impossible! However, check to find out what your embassy requires and go from there. The embassy will post it by EMS unless you collect it.
-
The balance can be made up by income so get an embassy letter organised on-line or it's start from scratch.

Had friends and relatives stay at my house and have stayed overnight in BKK and other places but never even thought about it. I've had five different immigration offices with no mention.

I used to read a lot of Idriess' books when I was young. I liked this one in particular. As for Out of Africa....did you ever see the film?
The Polish were probably the key players in breaking the Enigma code with a couple of brilliant mathematicians. That's not forgetting the 4 or 5 ladies who were equal to their male peers.

I would say that they are useful for buying transport, opening bank accs, etc. But every Amphore seems to have different rules about getting one, also the size of bribe that you have to pay to get the head Honchos signature on it varies enormously, eg. my Amphore, fairly straightforward document wise & a thousand baht bribe, my friends Amphore 40 Km away, a long list of documents & they actually want 10,000 bahts to do it....
Needless to say they are supposed to be free but TIT
Mine was free.

wobalt: I have lived here 25 years and in order to renew a retirement visa you have to provide a letter from the bank stating you have at least 800,000 baht in the bank ...a photo copy of your bank book showing the same thing and last 3 months transactions.
Not if you are using the income method for a Retirement Extension.

what exactly do you have to submit by mail as my 90 day report is dueon 2nd April?
I would be grateful for the full information fror Chiangmai which now has 2 offices!

My pinned topic in the CM forum - 90 Day Report - Procedures
Just noticed your due date. They require it to be mailed at least 15 days before the due date.
Can't speak for Chiang Mai but I have mailed a 90 day on a Saturday morning by EMS in the past and it has been received at the Imm office the following Monday morning. 15 days for an EMS letter is fantasy if it is going by road.

7) To repeat, prior to July 2012 the financial requirement was based on net income; after all deductions and regular outgoings.
Just because the system prior to 2012 was fairer, in your opinion, doesn't mean it was right. I think there should be threshold and there will always be anomalies.
Also if the people you are referring to don't earn a lot of money, they won’t be buying much to pay loads of VAT. It's a poor argument.
With VAT at 20% just buying essentials and items that need replacing it still adds up to a lot.

£18,600.
It's hardly a kings ransomed.
I certainly couldn't live on that amount, not even here in Thailand.
Well the 800,000 baht required to get an extension to stay equates to £16k. It depends where you live in a country and how you spend your money. Exactly the same here and in the UK.
-
It has remained the same in the 10 years I have been coming for the Winter. BUT it will be impossible for me to obtain a tourist visa from the UK for next winter unless they change recently introduced rules. This is because my income is from 'letting' and is classified neither as employed or self-employed income which is the requirement. It is classified separately by the UK tax authorities as 'Income from land and property'.
I hope Thaivisa.com can lobby the Thai authorities and point this out, because surely, if not retired, most who are employed or self-employed cannot come for 6 months can they, as they must work!?! It is only those of 'independent means' who have income from 'not' working or savings or a private pension who can come for that length of time.
Letting is also classified by HMRC as a business.

It has become more difficult over the past ten years with added documents required and a medical certificate that is only needed first time, according to the regulations. The medical certificate is a total waste of time and I've never been examined for anything but did have my pulse taken once some years ago, just asked why do I want it? For immigration, fine the nurse will give you one, it's 30 baht.

Is wanting to find a girlfriend/wife reason enough to move to Thailand?

Sad to hear and hope you are subsequently more successful. Luckily I've not had that problem just others outside my/our control.
