FORUM MONTHLY MAINTENANCE NOTICE:
Forum will be down Saturday April 27, 2024 in a window between approx. 6pm and 2am (Bangkok time GMT+7). These times could change as we go, or be longer or shorter, without warning.
ASEAN NOW's web traffic is increasing month by month, and we must add 4 times more resources to our cloud hosting and migrate it to Singapore for better user experience and latency.
We will also perform our planned monthly forum database maintenance.
The whole maintenance work will take about approx 6-8 hours. Forum will be down most of the time.
We will update the progress on our Facebook page: ➡️ https://www.facebook.com/ASEANNOWThailand/
Please follow us there!
The result will be faster page load, faster posting and less latency.
Sorry for any inconvenience! 🙏🏼
And here a tip for free faster and safer internet access to ASEAN NOW
and all other sites - try it now:

I use https://gemini.google.com for searches these days. It digs real-time data from Google which ChatGPT doesn't..
Try it.
I'm using the paid version which is excellent.

In Bangkok, many times, but note in some branch only a few machine/till are mastercard only, whereas regular machine are visa/mastercard+others even before they put the minimum back up to 300 baht back in the middle of last year
only time I find it didn't work is with some supermarket edc where it must be linked to the cash register and the underground trainsI doubt 7-eleven accept Google Wallet.
And vendors who accept Mastercard also accept VISA cards, as it's included in their banks merchant account.

Depending where you live in TH, it might be annoying enough to always have a few 1000 baht on you. Though plenty of wet/fresh markets and ma/pa shops that don't rely on electric.
Most vendors at markets have mobile phones and will happily take PromptPay (QR payments).

It would be good to get Google Wallet on an IOS device so we can add local cards to it and use it as we would ApplePay.
(Unfortunately ApplePay and Thailand are not aligned at the moment - most likely due to a certain 'major business family' blocking the use of ApplePay so that they could continue to encourage TrueMoney - they somehow missed Google Wallet).
and Apple and Google doesn’t like each others when it comes to wallets and payments 😎 -

Didn't work just now in Pattaya, two 7 Elevens, did you try there?
7-Eleven Thailand only accept True Money app and credit cards (not debit cards) over a certain amount, i think it's 300 Baht. I've never tried Google Money in Thailand as I have iOS (not supported).

Google Pay and Google Wallet works fine in Thailand and in most countries, but only if you have an Android phone. iOS is not supported, worldwide...

I'm in the market for a new MacBook Air, but Thailand's retail price for the spec is pretty high at 61,900 Baht incl. VAT.
Anyone knows of a local dealer that normally has promotions/discounts on new MacBooks?
Spec that I need:
MacBook Air 15" : M3 chip 8C CPU/10C GPU/16GB/512GB - Starlight-2024 (Thai-Eng-Keyboard)
256 GB harddisk is preferred though.
Can't find any Macbook Air M2 chip with 15" screen, but that could eventually be an option.

We are in process changing ad setup and move to more powerful servers. Please be patient. Work in progress!
-
We are changing the ad setup soon when we move servers to Thaiger's datacenter in Singapore. Current hosting is currently in Canada and pretty slow, but now we have bigger budget.
The page load WILL change to much faster asap. Please be patient 🙏

Another word in praise of Thailand Post. Been very impressed with their service.
And they are cheap!

Always send, and request, to be sent with EMS. I've been here since 1986 and never lost an EMS or package.
Registered letters always works for me as well. Both domestic and international.

Chuwit is a friend of mine since the late 80's. Last time I was out with him was at a corporate event at Siri House in Bangkok 2 years ago, and he told me about his cancer. He is in the US now.

Anyway, a good exchange booth in Hua Hin is at Market Village when you go down the outside stairs to the basement. You can't miss it.

No. One business buys another business and they merge the businesses/operations. Voila.

What about the Forums....still different............mods..still different....members....still different.
What's going to change?
Not much will change immediately, we are always improving moderation and content. The whole team is staiying, of course, we have been waiting for this for a long time.
Forum structure will change a bit, better navigation etc. We need a better home page, better cloud hosting etc etc.
We will share a few positive news in mid May.

The clip is a Facebook video, so you may need Facebook on your device for it to work. Our team have asked Surf Radio to make it in another format (audio only).

memories come to mind about the good old days where thaivisa sponsored meetups in Chiang Mai and other places. went for a couple meet ups here in chiang mai. it was nice to meet George and many of the other moderators. The pages of Remembrance in the Chiang Mai forum is where one could read about friends who have left us. I thank Thai Visa for many friends i have met personally and am still in touch with. Wishing all the best to George and the team.
Yes, I sure remember that, and I remember you as well. 🙏
I think there is certainly time for another party/piss-up in the not so distant future!
