  1. I’ve built an quite large bungalow type T-shaped house in 2008 The T is 20m by 22m and there are 5 wc’s.

I’ve have a vent on the 3000l septic and 1 11/2” went up to the roof  in each end of the 4” main tubing that connects from the toilets to the septic.

Normally no or very little smell in the bathrooms, but sometimes was very heavy smell when the wind comming from a special direction

Found out that the smell came from leaking connections between the toilet bowl and the 4” pipe in the floor, You can’t normally seal that from the outside as there is vent holes on the back side of covered bowls you can’t reach.

Checking in the building warehouses there are almost no hardware to do that seal. Only some rings of soft clay type to put there and lower the bowl and hope the clay will be pressed out and fill out the space airtight to the floor…….?

That is very difficult to lower the bowl straight down on the clay ring and not disturb or deform the ring.

Instead of reinstalling the 5 toilet bowls I put a small 60mm 12V type Pabst ball-bearing axial computer fan in one of the 2” end-vent tubes, that sucks air out of the tubings. These type of fans are really low cost and runs for years wit no problems.

I mounted it just with duct tape (Thaiwatsodu) and connected to an old 12V mains adapter. It draws only  0.7Watt

I then cut and restricted the 2” area to 1/2” in the other end of the toilet waste went, to keep a slight under-pressure in the system.

This totally and finally solved the smell problems from the toilets in all 5 bathrooms at the same time.

I then made the same trick to the vertical vent from where the drain and sink pipe go together to the concrete septic and put a 3” water lock to the pipe entering that septic (no2 after the black water septic from the toilets)

Thi also slowly sucked the smelling air out of the drain system and floor water locks (the thai ones on the picture in this thread dries out in a few hours)

Good luck with your other solutions, but these small fans really made it!

I asked something similar last week.  I'm in LA and going to Mexico this week for 3-4 weeks but I want to come to Thailand before XMAS and renew my visa extension.  I've been to Mexico before and did not get stamped out of the country.  How can Thailand know when you left Mexico if you aren't stamped out?  I'd love to do the one day Q but will I be forced to do the 7 Day Q instead?

Leave your ordinary phone at home and use another one.......Welcome to Mexico......

I suspect that, if Mr Rudolph was holding Mr Sathien's gun hand, trying to get it from him, when the gun went off, he would also have powder residue on his hand. If he needed to have Mr Sathien fire a shot into the wall postumously, he could have put the gun in Mr Sathien's hand and pulled the trigger with Mr Sathien's finger.  That way they would both have powder residue. I am also wondering if Mr Lakh was actually awake and witnessed the fight.  Her interview looks extremely shifty to me.

Not everybody thinks of powder residue as evidence. 11 pages went on here without someone thinking of it.

If Mr Rudolph is not straight about what happend, I don't think he was that smart and cold at that moment to fire the gun in Mr Sathien's hand. Also the thai mans hands was probably tied up by then and the powder residue should have spilled on his clothes and other hand.

If the Swiss guy's story is true then both men's prints should be on the gun and the dead man's prints should be on the rounds if he loaded the gun himself. Easy to prove either way.

Also the police should test for powder residue on the dead mans hand. A revolver leaves a lot. If no powder residue there, the swiss man just downed the thai man, fired a shot in the ceiling and threw the gun in the pond to disguise his prints. Washed his hands, while the wife made the calls.

Who presented the gun is still questionable, but perhaps some prints could still be found.

Was the dead man the wifes loanshark?

Was the wife not sleeping, but present all the time?

Did he arrive together with the wife and demanded money for her gambling debts?

This obviously is great news. Does anyone have any update in the number of serious cases / ventilators - These two data sets have not followed the flat lining pattern seen recently and have steadily increased.

Without being cynical does is it possible that the number of tests is also flat lining as well?

I've not seen any statistics about that, but it should show the result of the real outcome as it is more difficult to distort these numbers.

Anyone who knows how many ICU's & Ventilators are aviable in Thailand?

From April 23 the reported serious cases have been:

    352,418,507,563,628,695,786,871,829,954,981,1009,1042 & 1073 in today's report

Also from April 23 the reported ventilator cases have been:

    99,113,138,150,189,199,230,250,270,270,278,311,343, & 356 in today's report

Some discrepancy about the numbers around May 1-2 when the numbers seems incorrect, but these are the only official numbers I can find.

    Correct me if i'm wrong.

  6. Full steam ahead for China-Myanmar high-speed railway

There is a geopolitical reason for everything that happend from the genoside of the Rohignas to the military coup.

It is all staged by China to speed up their takeover of the Kyaukphyu - Kunming railroad and pipeline corridor and Kyaukphyu Deep Sea Harbor and economic zones. There is also a gas pipeline from the burmese gasfields.

It is part of their Belt & Road and of great concern to control and explained in this article in Asia Times on february 21, 2019.

    https://asiatimes.com/2019/02/full-speed-ahead-for-china-myanmar-high-speed-railway/

  7. China doesn't need a deep sea port in Ranong. Only fooling and snaring Thailand to new debts.

China already have the 70% stake in the Kyaukphyu deep-water port project in the Rakhine state in Myanmar and will shortly take over 100% of the project from the debt laden Myanmar government.

They already have pipelines to Kunming and are planning an Indian Ocean naval base there.

  8. I think the question is what have they done in China.

The new cases are suddenly so low it’s unbelievable.

They’re tearing down the expident hospitals and open up traffic and factories.

    Have they found a fix?

    Do they vaccinate people?

Only 80.000 out of 11-16 million was infected and the numbers are close to zero!

I am into buying a new now. This time with bag and Hepa filter. Has anyone any recommendation?

Also I wonder where is best to buy, were they have the most brands/machines? Is it Power buy? I am in Nong Khaem, BKK.

Buy a vacuum that accepts the standard Classic bags. They fit to Electrolux, Philips, AEG, Tornado, Volta + many more brands. You could find the bags in any civilized country all over the world.

I bought an Electrolux Essensio at HomePro in 2015 and it works fine and I’m extremely pleased with it.

The bag type I got with it is called E200B Classic from www.s-bag.com

But I think there are other brands of this bag too.

You are demonstrating a rather concerning lack of electrical knowledge, considering the dangers you are promoting. The TNC-S with MEN system does not require on earth supplied by the PEA/MEA the neutral is earthed at roughly every 3rd pole. The requirement is for a whole house RCD (other letters exist) so the earth rod is not required to carry the current to trip the RCD.

Virtually the entire UK wiring system uses the same (different acronym) system.

Using Wikipedia as a primary reference just reinforces the problem. Wikipedia may point you in the direction of documents to look up, but as anyone can post anything it is a terrible reference.

You’re absolutely wrong and I probably know electric more than most people here.

I warned about what an open neutral will do in a single phase TN-C-S MEN system.

A RCD/RCBO will NOT trip and save you if you get a leathal chock from a live carrying shower tap/hose!

The voltage and deadly current will pass the heaters coil through and back in the RCD core in the right order not to trip it, then into the ground wire and to the waterheater ground and hose!

The eventual house ground-rod can not carry that current!

Only a real low impedance ground (wich you don’t have) can lead away that current and save you.

If you have low knowledge of electric and dont understand how this can be possible, an UK man has made an explanation of that:

Australia, the UK, the US and much of the 220V 3-phase, 4-wire world would disagree.

Of course Thailand (unlike Australia) does allow TT connections so it's entirely up to you.

Please explain under what circumstances properly implemented TNC-S with MEN (PME in the UK) is hazardous?

I already explained in my post what a broken neutral coul do.

Here is more from Wiki if you dont belive me!

    ...................

    • ”In single-ended single-phase systems where the Earth and neutral are combined (TN-C, and the part of TN-C-S systems which uses a combined neutral and earth core), if there is a contact problem in the PEN conductor, then all parts of the earthing system beyond the break will rise to the potential of the L conductor. In an unbalanced multi-phase system, the potential of the earthing system will move towards that of the most loaded line conductor. Such a rise in the potential of the neutral beyond the break is known as a neutral inversion.[9] Therefore, TN-C connections must not go across plug/socket connections or flexible cables, where there is a higher probability of contact problems than with fixed wiring. There is also a risk if a cable is damaged, which can be mitigated by the use of concentric cable construction and multiple earth electrodes. Due to the (small) risks of the lost neutral raising 'earthed' metal work to a dangerous potential, coupled with the increased shock risk from proximity to good contact with true earth, the use of TN-C-S supplies is banned in the UK for caravan sites and shore supply to boats, and strongly discouraged for use on farms and outdoor building sites, and in such cases it is recommended to make all outdoor wiring TT with RCD and a separate earth electrode.”

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthing_system

As most houses in thailand have over head 2 separate wires (not coaxial!) single phase elecric coming in to the fuse box, the neutral wire is very vurnable and exposed to be cut by accident.

Also what I experianced in my country hut some years ago, was after a tree blown down, a faulty repair made where the live and neutral wires were shifted when spliced.

I still very much oppose this half hearted and absolute dangerous MEN connection in Thailand.

This type of connection is wrong to use, as there is no reliable ground wire comming in to the house!

The ground rod is normally just inserted in the soil (if you’re lucky) and is not able to carry the current to blow a fuse.

In the scenario that the incoming neutral wire is cut somewhere, all what you belive ”grounded” appliances will carry live 220V on their cabinets, if the ground rod current don’t blow a fuse

Even the water heater ground in your bathroom will be live.

(Also the neutral and ground is interchanged on the outlet in the drawing)

  14. What about using a boiler? I have one installed and have hot water in the entire house with no electrics in my bathrooms.

I did that too in 2009.

2kitchens & 4bathrooms with a total of 11 hot/cold taps and showers. Works perfectly with only a central 2KW 120 litres Steinel boiler. Takes less than 10 Amp from our weak mains supply (long feeding lines)

Of course I alredy had put in PEX (from Sweden) hot water tubes when building and prepaired for central hot water from a boiler or sun collectors.

I have seen some orange flexible high quality plastic hot water tubes lately here in Thailand, that seems perfect for DIY-plumbing.

  15. I still beleive the MH370 is down in the jungle in northern Malaysia. From the high altitude stall, that is confirmed and recorded, they probably stalled all the way to ground.

There have been no primary radar signals from the powerfull military primary radars in HatYai-Thailand and the powerful Aceh-Lhokseumawe radars with coverage of 445Km, covering all of the the Malyasian Strait and Peneng area.

HatYai radar even followed MH370 from starting in Kuala Lumpur flying north and dissapear or go to low altitude.

These military radars and or Indian radars must have recorded the MH370 if it flew over the Malacca Strait, turned around Aceh and heading south to the Indian Ocean.

The only lead they follow now and is the only reason they are seaching in the Indian Ocean, is a strange Inmar Sat ping history, that can not be 100% confirmed as reliable.

Even in Kota Bharu in northern Malaysia witnesses reported a very low flying plane heading south to inland.

These radars are taping everything, so you can not blame a tired operator to sleep on his post.

So no primary radars in the area have picked up anything and no debries found in the Thailand Gulf means the MH370 must still in the northern Malaysia area.

  16. Yes, thai electric is different!!

A couple of years ago when we returned to our hut in the countryside outside Nakhon Sawan, I had some mysterious readings when I wanted to do an extension to the electric.

I discovered that neutral and live was interchanged. The neutral was at live level 230 VAC.

I'm a 71 years old retired engineer from an electric & elecronic professions with 50 years in the business, so I know how to recognize....

The reason, that I found out later , was that the power lines from the street was cut by a blown-down tree and the repair crew had interchanged the 2 black 16mm2 power cords feeding our house.

If I had the PEN connection in my central unit (CU), all the "earthed" appliancies would have carried mains 230VAC on their outsides.

Everyone in the shower or touching computers, washing machine etc (standing on a wet floor) would have been electrocuted!!!

I think Crossy, when thinking about this, can make some more cruel scenaries about how switched cables & "cut neutral" and how the fuses work with switched cables and more etc....

As I was thinking and concidering this, I decided not to make any connection between neutral and ground in our new house.

I more belive that a T-T (Terre-Terre) network, with a good ground-rod (hammered down in moisture ground preferebly close to the septic) connected to all grounded outlets and let the neutral floating, in combination with a (or 2 in series if you don't trust one) RCD's will be the most safe installation.

You can never trust the neutral to be multiple grounded (MEN) in thai networks, as most ground rods along the streets have been corroded away.

(A popular way to save money on the electric bills by thai's, is to cut the neutral before the meter and connect it to the closest pole ground rod)

Even if you apply your own ground rod, it will corrode quickly by the offset currents if there is no reliable rods in the neghtbourhood.

I have up to 11 VAC at low impedance in the neutral.

Better to anticipate you have the 230VAC lines floating above ground voltage.

I concidered a PEN connected central unit is dangerous to use if you are not connected to a stable city network, where neutral/live are never subject to change and a cut neutral is never expected!! And the eart path is measured for impedance!!

You should never-never-never install a CU with PEN connection without farang electrical professional advices.

And of course never-never-never-never make a neutral-earth connection in an outlet.......

Consider all thai country networks with over-head cables are not reliable in this wiev!! (to my experiance)

Looks like all of the storms are SOUTH of Thailand. Nothing going on at all right now.
