Ms Neng says it’s not the first time her husband has attacked her, but the violence is becoming more severe.

In December of last year, she was hospitalised after her husband allegedly broke her arm. While she was in hospital, she says he did not visit her and the abuse continued on her return home.

So, after he broke her arm, she returned back to him. Why?

This is not supposed to be an excuse for him to beat her. But if she wouldn't return to him, then he could not beat her...

  2. Mostly I gave up reading and watching news about this. Because what can any of us do? Nothing!

As long as the USA supports Israel almost unconditionally, they have no reason to change.

And it seems any US government will support Israel.

So, what can we do? Look at the news and think how unfair the world is? Or try to ignore it because we know it's unfair.

calls for a reevaluation of Israel's approach to defending itself against Hamas's aggression grow louder

One of the things which Israel's politicians and population should do is to think about why there is something like "Hamas's aggression".

Did that aggression come out of nowhere? Or do Palestinians have reasons to be upset?

Does Israel's settler policy, with over 500,000 settlers on Palestinian territory, increase the chance of peace? Or is that one reason why there is no peace? Does the fact that Palestinians are thrown out of their houses in Jerusalem help to live in peace with the neighbors? Or does it give those neighbors just another reason to hate the occupiers?

Maybe it's time for Israel to radically change their politics. If Palestinians have food and water, will that help to make them happy? Sure. If Palestinians see that Israelis treat them like fellow human beings, will that help or hurt?

Obviously both sides do things wrong. But who is in charge? Who has the power to change something? Israel is in charge. And they can do whatever they want because the USA and many other countries let them get away with it. If Israel wants peace, then they should work on peace and don't make more and more war. Because if they treat their neighbors like animals then they should not be surprised if those neighbors react like starving dogs.

No, never personally seen any.  Any vids (full length) that I've viewed, and they all seemed justified getting a whack or 3, for their stupidity.  Edited version always appear first, and they seem to be unprovoked random attacks.   Then the full vid comes out ... and you think, dumb ass, what were you thinking :coffee1:

I think one problem from some foreigners here is that they think everybody has to obey all the laws all the time. And if they see that this doesn't happen, then they think they will tell the lawbreaker that this is wrong. He/she/it has to behave and follow the law now!

But for many Thais laws are best case some kind of suggestions. Like: stop on the red light if you feel like it. Or maybe don't drink they whole bottle before you drive. And Thais, and not only Thais, don't want to be told what they should do. And especially they don't like when foreigners tell them what not to do. All this should be no surprise for anybody who visits a country far away from home.

what she did was drunken animal madness. [...] What is the best thing to do in such a situation?

I just noticed that the thread which I started over a year ago is active again.

And I noticed that my headline includes "without any reason".

You started it. Where in the world can a foreigner walk up to a group of drunk locals and tell them what to do? It's just stupid or naive or asking for trouble. Don't do it!

What you can do is call the police and complain about the noise. And if you are lucky, they will do something. And if they don't do anything then accept it.

And maybe, just maybe, if this noise continues many nights, then go there at daytime, when hopefully nobody is drunk, and tell them you have trouble sleeping and if maybe they could turn the volume down a little. And don't forget to smile when you tell them about your no-sleep problem.

And ask yourself: Do you want this problem solved? Or do you want to show them who the boss is? A hint: You are not the boss. Accept it.

Brown and caramel is an absolutely gorgeous skin tone and pale skinned white is so unbelievably overrated. I once came up with the idea of opening a bar and calling it The Chocolate Bar and only hiring women who had dark skin. It would be so much fun to interview the pale skinned girls and tell them that they weren't qualified because their skin was too light.

Light-skinned people need to get over their feeling of superiority based on nothing but their skin tone. Black and brown are beautiful.

    Obviously you are right, but...

I remember I read somewhere that every Thai office girl knows exactly where on the rank of white to black she is in her own office. And she knows the rank of every other girl on that scale.

I thought that is stupid. But just to be sure I talked with a few office girls about that. And they all confirmed that they know exactly who is a little whiter or a little darker in the office. Unbelievable, but true.

I didn't ask the gogo girls if they also do this. But I wouldn't be surprised. I know one cashier who sold illegal whitening cream. It seems that was a lucrative business for her.

And nowhere in the world more so than in Pattaya.

You see more blokes there with "professionals" than anywhere else i the world. It is almost expected.

There is nothing wrong with professional. Pay them their hourly or daily rate and all is fine.

20 million should be good for 20 years. I guess for such long-term rental he should also get a substantial discount.

a budget of 95 million baht. It aimed to generate electricity through wind and solar power for 489 households

That is an initial investment of almost 200,000 per household, without maintenance, etc.

How could anyone ever think that makes sense?

I guess nobody cared it is made sense. Let's get the money, put something up what looks like turbines, and lets party.

I hope there will be an investigation who spent he money and how.

When in a foreign country, it is nice to travel by public transport, walk, cycle, visit markets etc and mingle with the locals - just to get the 'feel' of that country.

Unfortunately, what most foreigners do is to mingle with bar flies and condemn the entire country once they are drained dry.

When I was young, I learned, probably from my parents, that there are pickpockets in this world. And those bad guys like crowded areas and people who are not careful and probably have money. I am sure most of us learned that.

But sometimes we are in crowded areas, and then it's best to have as little money and valuables as necessary. I am sure you also heard that one before.

So if tourists come out of an expensive shopping mall, with lots of cash, and then go into the most crowded place available, what can possibly go wrong?

And about the bars: They are also part of Thailand. On my first holiday in Thailand one of those bar girls helped me to get familiar with Thailand including public transport, visiting markets, etc. She also told me when to be careful. And she made me aware of all the people who like to scam me. I learned much more from her days compared to what I learned myself alone, reading books, etc.

My parents forgot to tell me never trust a woman who has been in your bed.

Finding that out myself cost me a bloody fortune!

I think it is good that for most of my life I had (only) enough money for a reasonable standard of living, but not more.

Possible money diggers must have realized that early, and they didn't even start a relationship with me. Good.

Additionally, I never try to impress anybody with money. If I think they would like me more if I would spend more money (for them) then I know they are not what I want. That doesn't mean I am stingy; I like good things, and pay for them. I just don't like to get the impression that people would only like me if I spend money.

Nope, not for you personally, I know the quality of your posts far better than that.

It was a general point, aimed at several posters, the forum needs posters like Bob and GG, otherwise other posters would have nothing to do, certainly nothing to complain about. What was it the man said? I may not agree with what you said but I will defend with my life your right to say it...or similar. That's where I'm at on this.

    Maybe, but maybe not.

There was a time when we had lots of (new) posts from lots of members, and lots of replies.

Then the admins banned a big part of the members and warned many members not to do this and not to do that.

I thought about quitting a couple of times.

And then it seems the rules were made less restrictive again. But probably too late.

If I would not know that there are also quality posts and good members here, and I would look at new posts and only see what Bob and the other guy post all the time, I would probably decide that a forum like that is nothing for me. Too many, IMHO, idiotic posts, mostly from two overambitious members. They are both on my ignore list. But their posts still come up all the time on the right side. And sometimes just reading the headline is enough to know it will be the usual rubbish. And sometimes, just for fun, I add some rubbish to the rubbish thread to wind them up.

Personally, I prefer a forum with few "good" members than one with lots of idiots.

And for me good doesn't mean they have to share my opinion. I am open to read any opinion, as long as they make some sense.

How about a badge for those posters lacking original content and reduced to commenting on the content of others?

If you like that, sure, go for it.

If you want to use that category for me, feel free to check my currently 23,418 posts. I just looked up the number, just for you.
