Not sure how this is going to work, my wife has spent the last month trying to get a COE, they issued it 3 hours after her flight left, so we're back to square one! I know some encounter no problem, but equally, a lot do I suspect

Suggest that the armchair critics who condemn Sinovac, check out the science journals who endorse the product. Perhaps they can also explain why there are no Covid related deaths in China for a year and the amazing US is recording around 640,000 deaths. Fact is that in Thailand 680,000 health workers were given Sinovac, 618 were later tested as being positive, 600 with no symptoms and the rest with minor, according to the Lancet its 94% effective against infection and 96% effective against severe symptoms requiring hospitalisation
In fact I asked for Sinovac and was given Pfizer without an option for change.
But hey if you want an expert opinion ask any US politician and inject Hydroxychloroquine as a precaution!!

I live in a small condominium complex and we had 4 cases of covid - called the Chonburi health authorities, who were galvanised into inertia and did nothing, but I guess that we were being reckless in calling
However a recent survey concluded that out of 121 countries, Thailand was number 119 as being the worst, no mention of reckless behaviour!!

Benjamin Franklin once said any fool can criticise, condemn and complain and most fools do; that is why I personally seldom criticise but I have to wonder if he would retract that comment in light of what has taken place here

I wish people would do some homework before making comments, Efficacy is not the same as Effectiveness. Sinovac is (as far as I am aware) good for all variant strains. As someone has already pointed out the 50% is for people who have mild symptoms, as the infection becomes more serious the vaccine becomes more effective. There was some concern at the Pfizer vaccine, for treating all the variants but I doubt its a serious worry, though as it was developed in the US it must; by definition be the best!!
Having been to China many times, I think it would be a wake up call as to how primitive our own countries are and to maintain the Sinophobia and comments critical of China because some politicians use the stance for political grandstanding is ridiculous.
BTW China donated half a million doses to Thailand on the understanding that their citizens would be vaccinated - how many doses have western countries donated and what concern has any western government shown for its people abroad ?

There is a background to this, a Chinese national living in Chiang Mai went to a hospital for a (Chinese) vaccination. he was refused and told Thai's first. He then went viral in China's social media complaining about the treatment he received and the Chinese Government reacted by instructing the embassies to ensure that Chinese nationals were registered and given the vaccine. This was last week I believe.
I find it appalling that any mention of China immediately unleashes a torrent of Sinophobic comments and as a Brit I wish my government would react as well as the hated authoritarian CCP, who actually seem more concerned with their citizens than any western government
And on the subject of Sinovac and Sinopharm, both are very good and oddly enough Astra Zeneca and Sputnik V are also good, Sputnik Light looks promising as well - but we seem to be led down a geopolitical path and all attention is given to Moderna and Pfizer, in fact if you google which is the best vaccine the selection is somewhat limited to western products, this obviously helps swell their coffers.

I don't like to make negative comments, but when he said they have ordered X amount of vaccinations it would have been reassuring to say when they are expected, who will get the vaccines, how many shots a day is the forecast. I am concerned that this rollout will not include farangs who no doubt will be expected to pay premium prices for hospitalisation because they will struggle to get vaccinated and are therefore more exposed

Personally I would go for Sputnik V, the Gamelaya Institute has been around for over a 100 years and have done some outstanding work in the process, which also explains the speed of development as they have the building blocks to create a vaccine very quickly
The Chinese vaccines have also had positive reports, Sinovac was subject to an article in the Lancet that basically says its safe and effective, quite a few countries are using this vaccine and Chile recently reported a very favourable review
there is another vaccine recently developed by a lady called Chen Wai who is well respected in the epidemiology field. My understanding is that this covers all variants and is effective for pregnant women.
Sinopharm is also good, most of the Chinese population have been vaccinated with this, but I understand that there is now a third vaccination needed due to the new variants, so I suspect it may not be entirely effective
I would not opt for the Moderna vaccine if I was presented with a choice, no other reason than the vaccine development was paid for by US tax payers and this company announced anticipated profits of $30 Billion - sounds like price gouging on an extraordinary level
Astra Zeneca; friends and family have had it back in the UK, one friend had an allergic reaction but nothing life threatening and I'm happy that they have been inoculated
But in any case as of now I would take anything that was offered, even Chloroquine!!!

I hope this doesn't apply to me, why pay money to an insurance company who will find a million reasons not to pay and attend a third rate hospital who give a sub standard service - went to hospital with what was diagnosed as Gastroenteritis, though the 20 year old doctor wasn't sure and put me through an X ray for some obscure reason and gave me anti-biotics that have a contra indication of causing stomach pain - I'd rather pay for a flight if possible and get treated elsewhere

Why Chinese tourists snub Thailand: New favourites revealed
in Thailand News
Posted
I find the comment that the Chinese tourists tended to frequent Chinese businesses, a bit strange. My wife is Chinese and she has helped numerous tourists shopping for high end jewellery in Central Festival. I was in an airport queue with a young Chinese girl in front who had spent over Bht 200,000 on bits and pieces. Though I should also point out the tax refund counters were at a minimum and she was unable to get the tax back, if she wanted to catch her flight a bit convenient I thought.
Chinese tourists spent 543.7 Billion Baht in 2019, by far and away the biggest spenders in Thailand, maybe the fact that they are not welcomed influences their decision to vacation elsewhere in place like, I don't know Taiwan!!
