  1. They should have thought it through before getting rid of them in the 1st place. Do you really think it's practical for families and other tourists to just sit out there in the heat on a towel? The sand will be hot btw.

Chairs and umbrellas will be back 100%. If you don't like it then bugger off to any of the other beach areas in Thailand that is quieter.

  2. I love it when people say they feel safer here. The difference is gents if something were to kick off and you were an unfortunate victim where do you think you would stand a greater chance of getting some help from the law? Thailand or farangland? Case in point this article or Koh tao or the countless other incidents. Pull your head out of your durians.

  3. My gf just heard on the Thai news that the headman's son will give DNA tomorrow. Has anyone heard this ?

Now that gone be an interesting point in time for the TV conspiracy theorist.

No wait.............he must have finally found a way to modify his DNA whistling.gif

The people that have been saying the only reason not to give DNA is that you are guilty, must be a bit nervous.

I don't think that kid could pull the skin off a rice pudding. I'd like to see all the police and mafia tested on the island. He testing negative does not further implicate the Burmese. They need to be retested, and independently - no Thai police involvement this time. And as has been stated here, DNA from semem in no way proves murder, and not even that Hannah was raped. This is why the prosecution are still not indicting based on the evidence so far.

I thought it was the other way around and that they were indicting them based on DNA evidence as opposed to the confession which has since been retracted.

  4. I read about a girl baby having her head cut off by these "religious" folk today...........coffee1.gif

Link? Can PM it to me if you can't post here.

This is shocking stuff and it doesn't seem to be improving. Bombings are not going to help get these women and children out of the brothels. There needs to be a ground operation. We need boots on the ground.

Yep, "boots on the ground" will work. How about yours?!?

Would happily join up if it ever came it to. Nothing would make me more proud than to fight for my country. Unfortunately I am nowhere near fit enough to consider that line of work. There

Bet you feel a bit stupid now don't you?

  6. I have decide to purchase a VIP arrival service for when I land at Suvarnabhumi airport in January. On my last trip (January this year) the immigration queue was terrible so I thought 1100 bhat is not too bad if it means skipping that. My only problem is that it's not very clear where I will be met by the host/hostess. The voucher says;

"Please find our host(ess) at the end of the skybridge or at the door where the shuttle bus arrives, if the plane does not dock. She or he will be holding a sign with your name on it."

Where is the skybridge? I've landed at Suvarnabhumi a bunch of times but I guess I've never really noticed the VIP arrival people as I've never used them. If I get stuck should I just ask someone as soon as I exit the plane?

    Thanks

  7. The Customs Department and the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) seized 16.5 tonnes of hemp seeds valued at 6.6 million baht.

The seeds originated in China. (October 2013)

Please give the link to the source.

Its from the Bangkok post, http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/377329/huge-hemp-seed-shipment-seized

Thanks. I was wondering if perhaps the importation of only certain types of hemp seeds is illegal in Thailand, but the linked page does not clarify this. From this other article on the web it appears that Thailand does not allow the importation of any type of hemp seeds at all.

I think that's a translation mistake. As mentioned above there is no thc in hemp seeds. Maybe the ones they seized were seeds for growing marijuana plants.

  8. Lol. About time. If the UK checks it out then the truth will come out that they are not the real killers. I bet on that.

The UK are not going to 'check it out' as they have already bent over and allowed themselves to be shafted. If they wanted to intervene they would have a long time ago, at the point when the murders were announced, not after the evidence has potentially been contaminated. Hate to break it to you all but nothing is going to happen. This will end up as yet another statistic and come a few months time people won't even be talking about it.

  9. According to the agency, martial law actually benefits tourism because it ensures that foreigners are safe round-the-clock.

    Words rarely fail me ….

(Too bad the same can't be said for TAT. Take a holiday, fellows.)

Can't get travel insurance for Martial Law countries
Yes you can. In fact I have with Virgin. They state that the policy only becomes invalid if I become injured as a result of being involved in a protest type event. Ergo if I'm chilling on a beach (as many would) I'm sorted.
  10. Happy to see there are more than a few here besides my friends and family that would not mind seeing the sex tourists and other various forms of low life alcoholics leave Thailand. I am sure there are other places you guys can go and drink yourself silly and pass on various diseases .

Newsflash!!!! There are more lowlife alcoholics and frequenters of the sex industry (including under age) amongst the locals vs tourists. So what's the plan for them?

  11. The issue here is not so much the religion itself. It's yet another example of western folks poking their noses where it's not needed. We get hung up here on democracy but the fact is some places function better under a dictatorship. When you have inter religious conflict and inter tribal interests then a democracy does not work. Saddam would not have let them rampage throgh Iraq had he not been removed. Somalia, Iraq, Egpyt ect... Not saying a dictatorship is a good thing, but comparing objective reality I think most Iraqis were better off before.
